Thoughts on the new update?

It has finally been nerfed.

not to mention hes just being a jerk. just leave is the easy way out......calling them out for terrible decision making is justified given the majority wanted something to help solo que.....and all they did was go and make it worse...thats the true state of the game

It seems the same, but with more camping.

A sad person can be sad for a great variety of complex reasons.
Leaving the game takes one click. If it is no longer fun for you, then it is not worth staying.
1 -
Thats not good at all.

No one needs your advice on what they should do. the forums are here so people can voice their opinion of the state of the game

Well they buffed camping and tunneling while nerfing repairing and healing. All around terrible update that will probably kill the game.
It's clear what the devs think is fun (sitting on gens) is not what the playerbase thinks is fun (chases).
1 -
I honestly don't think this update, as big as it was, is enough to kill the game.

Not that I'm comparing playing a video game to alcoholism, but, do you think it's as easy for an alcoholic to stop drinking as to "just put down the bottle?" It only takes one simple hand movement. My point is that saying it's "just one click" is really ignorant.
1 -
An alcoholic has an addiction, which is something that can potentially require actual treatment.
I doubt anyone has that same level of addiction towards DBD, to the point where you CANNOT stop playing.
1 -
some people just dont know when to stop

Yeah I usually play several games as survivor and then play several games as killer and if I'm having fun I usually keep switching back and forth. Tonight I played a few games as survivor and then played other games instead. The funnest thing that I did on dbd tonight was spend bp's on various bloodwebs. The game felt more hollow and about blood points in some way. Everything felt predictable. Hopefully it's just me.

I am afraid it isn't just you. There has been some negative feedback around.
1 -
One thing i notice is everyone stopped bringing medkits and started bringing toolboxes.

Uh... alcohol addiction can kill people if they are severely addicted and they stop drinking. That is a very bad/tasteless analogy. It's actually more offensive than what previously offended you. Alcohol kills. Video games don't kill people... yet.

Exactly.

Playing killer is actually fun and rewarding now. Dead hard is not an oppressive "nuh uh" button that takes the reward of downing a survivor who makes a mistake away from you. I thought it would be fun to experiment with brutal strength with the new "fast breaks" and when I baited a drop it lead to such fast hits and shorter pallet loops. I made good choices and played well and I got a landslide victory. Killer finally feels like "the power role" which in a 1 v 4, it should. When I'm a survivor I now have to treat adept killers with some respect. I have tried new perks out and have had a lot of fun doing so. I LOVE the state of the game right now and i'm so happy to finally see a healthy game state.

I am happy for ya, mate :)
Being able to enjoy DBD is an amazing feeling, isn't it?
I remember when I did. When this game provided me with a level of enjoyment that no other game could. Hopefully you will have as much fun as I did back in the day.
Good game!

Probably not good enough to actually make the game worth playing.
1 -
Sadly, I agree.
There were some good changes, but...
0 -
It's a step up, but nothing to really keep the game going.
1 -
ruin nerf is a good thing tbh, hexes in general isn't really interesting mechanic.
0 -
I don't really think so, tbh, but to each their own.

Well, I gave it a try. Never used DH, so can`t talk about that one.
Spine Chill is a LOT less useful - which means the game is better for stealth killers, which sucks.
Iron Will? Never using it again. It is completely useless now. Seriously. You`re loudly moaning all the time. It`s pathetic.
Good thing is I had kind of an addiction to this game. Thanks BHVR for making me NOT want to play it anymore.

THERE IS STILL PEOPLE RUNNING SELF CARE, my mmr not even that low and they running it every game. I bring coh. Im "a chad"
0 -
We all have our reasons to leave.
I don't blame them. It is a sad situation.
0 -
what do you mean????gens arent going to do themselves, so why are people self caring?? coh is still broken imo.. what are peoples logic
1 -
Like, they are devastating or useless in most cases, too swingy and also hurting newer players much more than experienced players.
A perk with sole purpose of bullying the weak is not a good design imo.
0 -
Perhaps they were still trying to get some use out of it...
They will soon understand that Self-Care is, unfortunately, not worth it anymore.
Fair enough.

I started playing in January 2019 and GOOD LORD it sucked being killer!

Overall positive so far! I am really enjoying the perks they changed up.
My only small issues from the survivor side is gen speeds. It feels off BUT maybe its a ‘need to get use to it thing’.
From killer side its a lot more chill for me.

My Plague build is pretty much the same lol
Prayer Tablet build
Corrupt Intervention
Thanatophobia
Thrilling Tremors
Fearmonger
I did try Demo with STBFL and it felt really good.

Don't agree with that, tbh, but hey to each their own!
We all have our beliefs :)
Good to know!

Not a fan of them removing stealth killers from the game with the new surprise massive spinechill buff. Literally impossible now for a stealth killer to ever sneak up on anyone, now. Spinechill works against undetected and no longer needs line of sight. The moment the killer is within 32 meters, the survivor is notified. Stealth is their whole point - and now they no longer have stealth so as long as one person is running spinechill in an SWF. It's not so bad for solo survivors, but still, no sneaking up to them, ever.

As Killer I really enjoy it! but I can tell you I will probably never play as survivor again. Im Solo and this update to me is absolutely horrible. Especially the 90 second generators! I hate this because I enjoyed Survivor, Im not great but Im ok as survivor. I think the ones who say love the update are probably veteran survivors or Killer mains or in teams. I would love to see if there are any “Ok” survivors like myself who have been playing a while feel.

Personally, I've enjoyed the update so far, outside of a few outliers like the mega slowdown builds for plague and Legion. However I was expecting some problems like this for such a big update/change like this, reminds me of preseasons that they do in League of Legends.
On the other hand though, I still have my feedback, that is, no matter how much you buff killer or survivor, map design is still piss poor. Visuals are great but looping new maps has been abysmally dumb like Garden of Joy or Eyrie.
And, while I don't like DS, I think nerfing it in this way wasn't a great decision... in terms of the stun duration, not the EGC thing, thank god they added that!
But, as it stands, while a 3 second stun may help you against a m1 killer like a large portion of the roster, it's completely useless against top tier killers like blight, spirit and nurse who can just close the gap. this creates this inconsistency and will probably make it feel frustrating to use. I personally think that DS should disable a killers power for a few seconds to bring the higher tier killers in line with the lower ones in terms of anti tunneling.
Also, I'm still hoping for some Kinship changes, that perk can be an excellent anti facecamp perk. But the requirements plus SoloQ players makes it very frustrating to use. There are very few times where I can actually get value out of it because it doesn't really communicate that I have that perk and that it's procd to other survivors. Personally I'd make it activate after a certain set time (10 seconds on the hook struggling) if the killer is within a set distance of the hook. additionally make it change the aura of the struggling survivor and display a HUD notification for all survivors so they know that they have some bit of extra time.

I haven't played much yet but I did buy the Cenobite dlc and it makes me very happy to see all of those perks on him.

I'm a casual "ok" solo survivor who has been playing for a couple years. My games haven't been too bad, but my escape rate will definitely drop. As long as it's not by too much I can deal with it. It's been interesting looking at my team mates builds, it's a lot more diverse than it used to be (meta perks were never my thing personally) but the killers have all been using the same or very similar builds. I can see why killers got bored seeing so many survivors with the same build. I think that will end up being a big downside to this update.
0 -
Exactly- What killers have complained about for so long is now happening on their side. Same builds, same strategies. I'm a chill solo Q player and I haven't had fun. I don't know if it's my server or what but I'm not enjoying the update. It feels like some already good killers are even worse to deal with.. like nurse.

The new update isn't as bad as some people claim it was is actually a really good balancer, it makes the game better and fairer the only issue is that people dont like fair as that makes the game more reliant on skill and whatnot.

I think the game is in a much better state now. Surviving is harder but that was kinda the whole point right?
There are some glaring issues like regression perks getting double buffed by the increased gen times+normal buff (thana being the biggest offender) but overall a big improvement
Regression perks need to be toned down a bit to accustom to the new gen times and the top s killers need to be looked at now the excuse of they are the only viable ones is kinda off the table
I'll haven't played that much so my thoughts might change over the course but i feel it's 100% a net positive
1 -
on paper good changes... on practice nothing changed for me except that now i'm aganist toxic tryharders every ######### match and i'm forced to use blight every game and tunnel if i want have some hope to get kills... this update seems to have worsened the situation instead of improving it. i think that i'll take another long break from the game until they won't fix those issues... the problem wasn't the genspeed itself but the map layouts and the lack of a secondary object to do for survivors. as survivor instead match will be more boring (m1 on a gen for 90 seconds now... really fun /s) since we will see a dramatic increase of tunneling killers...

Overall positive. Not perfect but definitely better than before the patch.
0 -
Yeah now I'm back playing both roles and this is how it should be. Survivor fun, killer fun. Fun fun, win win 😀
1 -
I can actually try fun builds as killer now. I don't feel forced to use 4 S tier perks. I feel like I can play how I want to and If I play well and make smart choices, I'll have a decent or good round to show for it.

Feels good to be done with the grind.
Too early to tell gameplay wise, but it feels damn good to not have to deal with DH anymore.
0 -
everything is good , but the DS change needs to be reverted ,only the stun change not the deactivation one or adding a new effect that disables all killer power for 10 seconds after the stun because currently is so awful that specific killers can abuse the 3 seconds timer to tunnel even more harder. (cough cough Nurse)

Yep. Gave it another try. Still sucks.
I`d play 5-10 matches in a row. Now, I play one and exit the game. Thanks, BHVR, for ruining it. It helped me get rid of an addiction.
1 -
I hope they made a backup save of the previous patch.
1 -
Now ask the opinion of people who actually play solo q.
