The new update and my thoughts as a Solo Q player.
At the time I'm typing this I have 5737 hours on Steam and I am on the EU servers. I prefer to play crossplay off because even though most killers I face there are nurses, blights and huntress, my team mates are also "sweatier" and I prefer going against good killers while also having a good team.
Most of my hours are exclusive solo q, then killer and then a bit of SWF. My build consists of Kindred, Bond, Inner Strength and Lithe. I never use items or offerings.
It's not secret that Solo Q has been in a bad place for a long time, be it the lack of information or the awful matchmaking.
A lot of these issues just became even more noticeable with the new update.
With the bloodpoint incentive being on the survivor role right now and it not being available on crossplay off, I had to switch to crossplay on again. My queue times were slower yesterday, but back to instant today. I have noticed a lot of newer players on my team though, and it was already a problem before sometimes, now with the incentive it has become even more common. By new players I mean players from 20 to 150 hours.
It was already difficult to make matches last when new players (understandably so) are not amazing and go down rather quickly and aren't efficient on gens.
With basekit buffs to killers' chase (bloodlust being buffed, breaking pallets being buffed, recovery from hits being buffed, and nerfing survivors speed boost after the hit), the same survivors are lasting even lower in chase.
At the same time that these chases are being quicker, gens times were also increased to 90 seconds, and while 10 seconds might not seem a lot, it is in total 50 seconds + all the slowdown perks that are still available, a lot of them that can be quite oppressive specially in Solo Q.
I could start using gen progression perks, but 3 of my perks are already to help me in solo q (kindred and bond for information, and inner strength because you can't rely on team mates to heal you), while using lithe to try to extend chases to give my team mates time to do gens, specially now. like I mentioned, with the basekit buffs to chase on killers.
I still see killers stacking slowdown perks, and I still see killers tunneling and camping even when my team is still at 4/5 gens. The killer meta perks changed, but was replaced with other perks with the same effect, while camping and tunneling got buffed with gens taking longer and making it easier to camp with the recovery speed to hits buff.
5 seconds BT basekit is a nice addiction, but it's not enough time for someone to not be tunneled. Sure, I could equip BT, but again, I already have my build full for perks I need to use in solo q, and I thought the point of making BT basekit was to make so survivors didn't have to run BT, yet, this still feels like a necessity.
A lot of perks were overnerfed on both sides, and the meta didn't really change, people are just using other perks that have the same effect, yet survivors didn't get a compensation for all the killer basekit buffs besides the 5 second BT.
I'm sure SWF will be fine since they don't feel the necessity to have a full loadout for Solo Q needs, but Solo Q players, again, were forgotten and out experience was turned from bad, to worst.

Killers deserved buffs, so this update adressed some issues. Thana Legion/Plague needs to be looked but update is good in general.
So now we need some love for solo survivors. I hope upcoming updates fix solo issues too.

They could have buffed solo q in the same patch.

The 1 thing i really hate about the new update is the DS stun nerf.Tunneling is really easy, now that DS is dead.
The worst thing about Solo Queue though is horrendous matchmaking.Solo queue is manageable if every player is around the same level of experience, but that's almost never the case

They overnerfed things that didn't need nerfs. Also their "buffs" like pharmacy, botany and calm spirit are very questionable.

Yeah, the solo experience isn't great right now. I was really hoping survivors would get some good anti-tunnel/camp mechanics in play, because that's what solos are most vulnerable to, and 5s of BT is not it - that's nothing for camping and barely anything for tunneling. Killers were already perfectly content to wait 12s, and at least 12s gave you time to get to a tile. Like, if the killer buffs are meant to ease reliance on slowdown, and the survivor buffs were meant to ease reliance on second chance perks - obviously you can't stop people from flocking to those things anyway without instituting hard limits or something, but right now I feel a lot more comfortable experimenting with killer perks than I do survivor perks. That it's OTR instead of DS doesn't matter; it's still a reliance on meta perks to avoid a common tactic.
I always said I wanted solo queue to get buffs to their information so that killers could be buffed in turn to match a more unified survivor base. Right now, we got the killer buff without the solo queue buff, and it does not feel good to be on the bottom of the totem pole.
