This update finally drove me to uninstall DBD
I'm not sure what the community's personal experience with the update has been, but mine has been awful.
As someone who enjoys running off-meta builds I was excited to experiment with the new survivor perks that had been buffed with this update. Unfortunately I didn't really get the chance to use them in more than half my games because I kept getting Nurses who (no exaggeration) had all of us slugged on the floor at four gens. It was as though the game hadn't changed at all and confirmed my fears that Nurses would become more prevalent since this update only makes her even stronger than before.
The base kit BT is laughable and did nothing in the games where a normal BT would have saved a survivor from getting tunnelled. It is very easy to wait out a five second BT. Since DS for some reason is now laughable as well (with a 3 second stun you may as well be stabbing them with a crayon) tunnelling was much more prevalent in the matches where we weren't all immediately slugged. I did not see OtR often if at all so I can't comment on that perk rework.
Gens take 90 seconds to repair now and killer gen regression has been buffed in a few areas. Although I find the gen speed decrease a fairly monotonous way to make the games last longer (who wants to hold a button for even longer than before?), it is understandable considering the amount of games I had pre-update where gens would fly in a single chase. No killer should experience that. Despite these changes, the killers I had took advantage of longer gens to instead camp out survivors because they knew now they were more likely to get away with it. Or they hard tunnelled at the start of the game even though in theory they should no longer need to to perform well at high MMR due to the buffs they recieved.
What I'm trying to get at is that I feel as though the update has changed nothing at all for the better from the survivor perspective. I'm sure killers are having a blast with these changes, I would be too, but ultimately for me I can't help but feel let down. I went onto the game yesterday hyped and quit it after a couple hours absolutely miserable. It is a shame. And I feel as though these changes were not made with solo queue players in mind. Playing solo queue is already a detriment as it is hard to coordinate and mistakes can be very hard to come back from. With these changes a single mistake could very possibly end the match for everyone. I understand that killers are supposed to be strong and feared but the best matches are the ones where it is not clear which side will emerge the victor. I don't want to play matches where effectively the game is over for us in the first couple of minutes because we have little chance of coming back from a mistake due to increased gen times etc.
All these points all in all have made me finally uninstall the game. Perhaps I am being cynical or got incredibly unlucky games but this update for me feels like it has done nothing to improve the game. In fact it has made it worse. Feel free to disagree with me, I know some people are loving the update and I'm happy they are. I just wish I could enjoy it too.
Maybe I'll be back for the next chapter. Who knows.

I had good games as both roles last night. I though solo survivor would’ve been tougher but I had some very fun matches.
22 -
This update makes me enjoy the game even more. On both sides.
39 -
Jesus, I love this update; it's really pulled back the curtain and shows just how many Survivors have no idea how to do basic things like Loop, Kite, etc. and were just relying on second chance perks to bully Killers.
"I don't want to play matches where effectively the game is over for us in the first couple of minutes because we have little chance of coming back from a mistake due to [STUPID REASON]"
Now put yourself in the Killers shoes before the patch. Do you think people wanted to play matches that were 'over in the first couple of minutes" because the SWF has perfect comms and is plowing 3 gens in the first 2 minutes of the match before the killer can even get a hook?
Now that the shoe is on the other foot, you're going to uninstall and come to the DBD forums to complain about a game you apparently aren't playing anymore. 😂
For anyone who needs a TLDR for the OP: ""Killers are having too much fun. I'm taking my ball and going home."
19 -
Besides nurse I’ve been enjoying this update a lot. More perk variety is always nice especially on the survivor end of things
10 -
holding M1 longer is fun to you? Seems like BHVR knows the audience to cater to.
9 -
Explain to me how survivor side is more fun than before

I thought this was a forum for discussing DBD. I'm offering my thoughts on the update and sharing my experience: which has been unfortunately a very bad one. I didn't realise that I'm not allowed to offer my thoughts on this forum if I no longer play the game at this time.
I'm also not sure why you're trying to antagonise and insult me for sharing said experience. You're making me out to be a bullying survivor who wants to dominate killers and relies on second chance perks such as pre-update Dead Hard. You're ignoring my criticism under the basis of "lol now you have to actually learn how to play the game git gud dummy lolololol". How is this helpful in any way? This is not to mention that I haven't used Dead Hard since it came out because everytime I used it I would fly into a tree. DS isn't a second chance perk after all of its changes because for it to work you need to get tunnelled. And in the 10% chance that you catch that same person later on and get DS'd, you know at least they haven't been doing anything productive. So I don't know what part of my post made you think that or made you so hostile.
And I'm aware that killers have had it rough, especially against SWFS. Did I literally not say that no killer deserves to get genrushed? My problem is that these changes make the solo queue experience even worse. I play a large amount of solo queue so I can weigh in on that.
Nice work calling my reasons stupid, by the way. What a good way to encourage discussion. I think the longer gen times will make solo queue mistakes that much more punishing because it gives the killer much more time to capitalise on them. Do you think that killers should deserve to have their games ended based on a single mistake eg: a bad beginning chase? I wouldn't think so.

Except that wasn't happening before the update for a lot of killers, and now those killer players are buffed. I'm having survivors flat out give up in my killer games since the update. This update buffed a small percentage of players who didn't need buffs to begin, and it's going to be frustrating going against them.
3 -
Stopped reading after "gen regression has been buffed"...
It was mainly nerfed.
15 -
10 seconds added as base kit. Add Thana, Eruption, Call of Brine, and whatever else, you don't need more slowdown. I'm a professional baker, if a formula calls for 500 grams flour and 350 grams of water, but you add 12.5% more water than is called for, the bread will not have structure. Increasing gens by 12.5% does not nerf gens but buffs them by 12.5%. Dishonesty doesn't work when numbers are available.
15 -
I´m not a professional baker, but most gen regression perks were nerfed and nerfed hard with this patch. Pop, Corrup, Ruin, all gone.
Also Thana was buffed by a whooping 0,5% per stack. Tbh, i haven´t noticed the added 10 seconds of gen repair time in my survivor matches.

Welcome aboard the "Exiled" ship, mate!
We all have our reasons to leave.
12 -
I definitely can sympathize with you. For the longest time, killer has just been exhausting for me. Back to back maps that are awful from a gameplay point of view ( even with the buffs, I still get semi tilted over garden of joy), DH every game. Medkits being buffed in general, COH, that brief time with boil over. The best thing I did was doing what you're doing now. Take a break and play something else. You dont owe it to anyone to continue playing.
That being said, I am finding killer fun again. more now that I can play pig with soley jolt and feeling fine about it. Win or lose. But there are some glaring problem. Strange enough that they are issues that have always come up so you'd think they'd think about it. Perk stacking.
4 -
Holding m1 longer isn't fun. Want to know what IS fun? Being able to engage in multiple chases a match because the killer doesn't get genrushed in the first 4 minutes is fun. Longer games mean more time to engage in the actually fun part of the game. Crazy concept, I know.
11 -
Sorry but its a skill issue and not a design issue if the killer gets dunked on in 4 minutes. And you coping hardcore rn
5 -
This forum has quite a few "Killer Mains" who don't seem very mature (however, some of them are perfectly fine at the same time). I see you're newer to this forum. Atm, even the crappiest Killers are rejoicing because 4k'ing Solo Q (not SWF mind you-) is a cakewalk.
You have every right to your opinion, and you presented it in an honest, reasonable, and comprehensive way that insulted no one.
So of course, a scant few kids here can't handle it. Don't let it get you down.
23 -
What part of "I'm uninstalling this game" is a discussion? This update hasn't even been live for more than 24 hours, and you're here to loudly proclaim how you are not going to play anymore. That's not a discussion, it's the cries of a child seeking attention.
It sucks that your experience with this update has been so bad, but again, it's still early days. Survivors are clueless on what to do, and it's become VERY obvious that a lot of higher MMR survivors don't even know how to loop properly. Their reliance on Dead Hard and other second chance perks was a crutch, and now they don't have that. This isn't the first "I'm not playing anymore" post, and it won't be the last.
7 -
Good. This update has actually made things more fun for both sides. Surviors have fun running different builds and are actually looping instead of just second chance perking.
Killers don't need to worry about holding W across the whole map or worrying about a BS perk that was ran by EVERYONE and their mother!
Look back before the patch and think "did the killer have fun during that match when we popped 3 gens before they could get 1 hook or down? Did they like how I used E to reach a god pallet or window? Did they like being sent to a map that is survivor sided while I'm running the meta?"
No one ever thought of the killers fun and now that a majority of players are both having fun I've seen healthy interactions and actual fun gameplay. Just because YOU, one player out of thousands didn't have a good experience straight out of the gate doesn't mean EVERYONE feels the same. There will be some that join your side however, the update was needed to shake up this stale game.
8 -
Stop being so ridiculously mean.
This person is obviously kind of shocked and unhappy at the changes. rather than be a turd, why not offer an opposing opinion in an encouraging way? Prior to this patch, the forum was absolutely flooded by Killer mains whining and complaining to nerf Dead Hard.
All they got were asspats and group therapy. Now DH is ashes.
Like why is it so hard for you to just say "You feel that way, I disagree, and here's why"?
So sick of people being chased off the forums by bullies.
22 -
I expect to see a permanent survivor que bonus, killers are having a lot of fun outside of paying against SWFs. Solo survivors are feeling the burn of not only nerfing what allows them to survive on their own, but a killer wide buff.
So enjoy playing killer and try to find some good players to play with.
2 -
Solo Q survivors aren't allowed to not like changes, they just need to "get good".
Killers can complain tho. That's how the forums work.
28 -
Or and hear me out here, survivors havent figured out what works best yet and instead of staying for a while and seeing how the meta settles you decided to book it.
Which is understandable but imo you just expected to just cruise along doing as well as you have been doing in a completely new survivor meta and when that, obviously, didnt happen you gave up.
Am i being optimistic in thinking the survivors experience will get better as people figure out what works best and what to abuse? Probably. But i think thats whats going to happen in 1 week max.
2 -
To be honest with you I was already having a rough time with the game in general. I was banking on this update drawing me back in and making the game enjoyable again. I agree it is a bit harsh to quit in so little time after the update drops but I just can't see myself enjoying the game right now. Some more changes need to be made.
4 -
Saying "its a skill issue" completely ignores the point I'm making, which is that matches in general are longer. Longer matches mean more time to engage in the fun aspects of the game. It being a skill issue is completely irrelevant.
I've mostly been playing survivor since the update released and the game has been a blast. I've had a couple sour matches but it's been great overall. And you say it's not a design issue, but the devs clearly disagree with you. It really sounds like you're the one coping here, bud.
1 -
First of all, it's ridiculous to think Solo Q was "cruising along" because of ONE perk. A perk I, and many Solo Q survivors never even used.
Anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together, who is also honest, will acknowledge that Solo Q survivors have been entirely shafted and left behind with this update. The Devs are balancing for Killers vs SWF.
I'll be the first survivor main to admit as always, that SWF was completely unfair to Killers.
Making Solo Q even more miserable, while only slightly inconveniencing SWF wasn't the epic balance BHVR advertises.
15 -
The reasoning why I'm uninstalling in the first place. Did you even read my post? I wanted people to throw in their two cents to see if my experience was a common one or if it was instead an outlier. I'm getting the impression it was an outlier. No thanks to you calling me a child.
5 -
The changes were not primarily to survivor. They were specifically made to boost falling kill rates. It's understandable it feels painful as a survivor.
That said every single meta gen regression perk was heavily nuked/nerfed into questionable value. Pop taking a handful of seconds off of gens 0-50% is massive And ruin is now a detremint to run. Additionally dms + or is gone. If you liked bt/ds I heavily recommend you give otr a shot.
1 -
It's not an outlier position. Look at the DBD subreddit. Solo Q has been made into misery. You are not alone.
5 -
Thats completely fair. I burn out of games every so often as well. Hope you find a new game or hobby you enjoy. I can recommend Chivalry II, very noob friendly and matches are generally just 5 minute of dumb fun. Reminds me of tf2 medieval mode.
0 -
Didnt mention a single perk, i said meta got completely reshuffled. This is imo akin to everybody starting over new to the game with no idea how to play and game seeming completely killer sided. We dont know what works and what doesnt, yes it seems extremely killer sided right now. I'm just saying let the meta settle and lets see if it actually is first.
0 -
No. People shouldn't make posts about uninstalling if they want to be coddled. Ignoring the part where they claim to "love to run off meta perks", all they did was complain about the QoL changes. And again, lets remember that these changes haven't even been live for a day yet. Solo queue is rough? No ######### Sherlock.
They even laid out their point simply: "What I'm trying to get at is that I feel as though the update has changed nothing at all for the better from the survivor perspective." Nothing has been changed for the better? How about no longer being trapped in a boring second chance meta and being rewarded for just holding W for an entire chase? Now good players get rewarded for actually being able to loop and use tiles correctly. Of course bad survivors are going to complain that nothing changed for the better.

play as survivor and show us how you do it, please
2 -
The biggest problem by far playing Solo Q was the sheer level of camping/tunneling Killers. Camping can decimate a Solo Q match simply due to the lack of info.
So Devs have now nerfed anti-tunneling perks like DS into ashes. A perk I personally relied om, not for cheeky escapes, or trolling, but truly to get away from being tunneled.
Now Killers are tunneling MORE. Gen speeds are at a crawl, and you get more bang for your buck when camping a survivor at 5 gens. Idk what the "Meta" is going to be (tho Killers seem to have their already, or at leats close to it). I'm quite certain SWF will do just fine tho!. As usual.
16 -
Correct me if im wrong but isnt OTR just a better DS, i assume im missing something but not sure what.
0 -
Just take a break. Don’t uninstall, especially if you plan to come back. Taking a break is necessary sometimes, I took some because of the amount of toxicity I received for playing a tunneling / proxycamp nurse with red moris. After a while, I started to take screenshots and make fun of it.
So as I said, take a break and come back fresh without taking the game too seriously.
1 -
Personally, no. I don't think it is. With DS you had a 5 second stun. You could at least try to scoot off and the Killer had to look for you again.
With OTR, it's just BT. And we all know Killers had no problem tunneling through that. It doesn't distract them, or slow them down.
5 -
I thought the 1 minute of old iron will would be pretty impactful too but i can see how that doesnt come into play if killer is right on top of you. And i can swear it had an effect that disrupted scratch marks but i must have been thinking of a different perk i think, wiki says it doesnt have that.
0 -
You need to realize it wasn't just one perk that let to survivor handholding.
As innocent as it might seem Spine Chill was in part to blame. So were perks like Iron Will, DH, DS and many of the "Crutch perks" that got obliterated.
4 -
You might be thinking of Lucky Break. OTR does have grunts of pain silences, but doesn't make much difference if the Killer is right on your arse.
1 -
Well Solo Q escape rates were NOT high. BHVR took the Kill/escape rates from the survivor pool that included SWF on comms.
A lot of these "crutch perks" (that Killers have too btw!), were designed with the concept that survivors to did not have access to voice communication and coordination. That's why such changes harm Solo Q so much while SWF will still be pretty difficult for Killers.
3 -
Good bye. See you in a few months.
2 -
The variety is nice; too bad that it ends with The Killer. It's the same killers and slow-down perks.
3 -
Think about what you just said for more than a second.. “do you think people wanted to play matches that were over in the first couple of minutes because the SWF had perfect comms and they plowed through gens”. ..Are you seriously comparing only some games that have a SWF to all games that have the buffs to killers now? Please lmfao you tried twisting his words and laughing at him but you just made yourself look funny 😂
6 -
you are not stable on 4 perks, you can switch (of course it depends on the killer).
0 -
This update really howed just hope overpowered Nurse is compared to every other killer, she is just disgusting and the dc penalty should be removed againts Nurse.
I think she should straight up be disabled until she gets properly nerfed.
2 -
I could not agree more with this. I still have been playing solo survivor, and I for one have been rather lucky with the killers I have faced until now it seems. Though I think the average kill rate in my matches has certainly been higher than 2 kills per match at the moment.
But yes, I completely agree that the big problem with this update is the lack of changes that help survivors. Mainly solo survivors that need more information, as well as nerfs to camping and tunneling. Camping and tunneling should have been nerfed in noticeable ways now that killers have received many nice buffs, and now that Dead Hard is nerfed.
Instead, tunneling is pretty much the same, and camping is even buffed. If the devs don't do something about this quickly, killer queue times will surely become pretty long.
I have been playing this evening, and while normally killer queue times are shorter in the evening, now they are longer than survivor queue times, even in the evening. Not a good sign.
6 -
Some popular gen regression perks were nerfed while others...looking at you overcharge and baskit kick regression were buffed. Gen PROGRESSION has also been nerfed except in the case of overzealous.
2 -
Narrator: the Survivor was crying about Nurse, but never drop a tear for SWF on Voice Comms. That was fine, or that she thought.
1 -
Not sure I understand what you mean. Are you saying that SWFs make Nurse justified? Or that I'm not allowed to voice criticism regarding Nurse because I didn't address SWFs in the same post? I'm talking about my experience playing survivor here, not killer. I've been dunked on by SWFs numerous times playing killer but I don't really know how you can remove them from the game without crippling the player base entirely. A main attraction of this game is that you can play this with your friends, competitively or just for fun. And I don't know how BHVR can disable third party comm software like Discord to stop SWFs from being on comms. It's an inevitability that SWFs will remain as they are.
Nurse was already considered super strong in the right hands. This update has only amplified that further. Her range addons got a strong buff that apparently was intended and left unaddressed in this patch. And most Nurses (like the ones I had yesterday) slug you and try to end the game as quickly as possible. It isn't fun at all, but unlike SWFs this is an issue that BHVR can easily address. She could be nerfed or have her range addons nerfed and I'm sure she would still be one of the best killers in the game by a long shot. Take that for 'crying' if you want, but it's the truth, and I'm annoyed that people seem to think Nurse is immune to criticism.
5 -
You need to actually consistently play one side to consider it a side. One match a month as Ash rank and the lowest MMR in history, possibly with friends too, doesn't accurately represent the consistebt solo Q experience.
