Any word on when the BP bonus will be back?
I still have a small number of basic perks to unlock for some of the survivors I prestiged before the update and getting 30k or less BP per game is so unmotivating.
Will jump back on when the bonus is back.

Hopefully not until they fix their crappy matchmaking that got even worse with it.
5 -
Just put on BBQ…oh wait…
28 -
They tweeted that the fix is scheduled for 6.1.2
Not sure when that will be in terms of dates. I think it would be only fair to have a Double BP event or something like that in the meantime to compensate for this.
25 -
Looking at prior patch history 6.1.2 would be about three weeks after 6.1.0.
2 -
That's awful to be honest. Double BP until fixed should definitely have happened by now if they're not planning to fix this for another few weeks.

See you guys in three weeks!
15 -
Same here. Have a couple of games I've been wanting to grind the platinum for, so perfect opportunity!
1 -
Assuming one patch per week, two weeks at least.
1 -
What makes it worse is that the gamebreaking issue that needed it to be killswitched is... drumroll please..... too much BP
19 -
only survivors should get a bonus killer queues are insane, just give a flat 100% bonus for playing survivor until it's fixed
3 -
There is also a bug with the blood network that is quite annoying.
When were they going to put the double fragments? I thought it was two hours ago
0 -
three weeks without bonus bp ... geez
5 -
Double bp until it's fixed would be nice. I mean they did just take BBQ and WGLF from us. Now bp earnings feel stagnant without the bonus. Or maybe a daily login bonus of 100k until it's fixed at least. 50k they gave us covers like... 2 matches. Maybe 3
6 -
Man they could have just given both roles 50%...
0 -
... it's BHVR, you're expecting too much, we'll get 1.5x if we're lucky
Post edited by Rizzo on1 -
No real reason to play (soloq survivor at least) with buffed killers/nerfed survivors, before I did it for the 100% extra BP.
3 -
they should add the 100% bonus to both sides I mean the took we going to live forever and BBQ&C bonus away now even as killer I getting crap for BP
they wanted to lessen the grind are you sure?
2 -
It'll probably be 2 weeks but next week would be great.

it was actually nothing to do with too much BP, it had a major effect on matchmaking times, which is why the decision to kill switch it was made.
There are no plans for double BP for this, this feature was only ever meant to help with queue times for specific sections when it was needed - it was not meant to be the 100% all the time either, that was not working as intended.
9 -
I just don't want the double BP to go away when this is solved cause it's such a nice feature.
4 -
Appreciate the response. Seems a bit of a kick in the teeth to all players. There was no real reason to remove double BP from BBQ or WGLF, other than you wanted the grind to continue.
11 -
The feature will offer bonuses to the side that needs it, depending on region, MMR rating etc. Also it won't always be 100% - it will be a varying percentage depending on what is required at the time.
5 -
Oh I didn't know that, still any extra is better than nothing.
1 -
This is wrong. There was a response to removing bbq, it was letting us earn another 8k points in every match. And considering many of us got millions of BP worth of free perks only days ago with the prestige bumps im disappointed but not surprised that so many people are acting like this was anything other than free generosity.
1 -
I think it's only fair for you to provide some BP event right now. We don't have BBQ/WGLF anymore.
5 -
I dont think i'm wrong saying EVERYONE wants double BP so if it was anything other than BP it would be looked at quickly as it would satisfy the entire customer base, but in a capitalist society where the game is made even fictional currency involves greed lol
4 -
Sorry, typo lol. Response was meant to say Reason.
Also, is that you Mandy on a dummy account 😂
4 -
If they wanted to reduce the grind why did they add the 20k prestige tax?
3 -
My two cents: The BP intake felt really good on survivor, literally the best it has ever felt. I was actually like "Wow, I don't need to just grind killer games to get BP, for once, this is amazing." The fact that this had such a major impact on matchmaking (i.e. a ton more players were choosing survivor) really ought to tell you guys that baseline survivor BP income needs to be bumped up, just lifted up overall. Otherwise, going forward, playing without the BP bonus is just gonna feel like a penalty.
I'm roughly at "Just give us more stuff for free, with no strings attached. Just give us BP, a lot of it" especially for survivors right now. Let the BP flow freely, forever, and it will make everyone happier. I dunno why you guys don't just have someone manually direct the BP bonus while you figure out why the automation broke down enough for a killswitching (or why it's even still killswitched an entire day later).
EDIT: Heck, killswitch it to +100% for both sides. Now that would be a great short-term solution.

I agree it felt so good, I didn't play survivor since they killswitched the bonus it's so unrewarding
4 -
Anything previously generous that gets removed is still gonna feel like a penalty regardless. They should just give us all the free things with no caveats. Who cares? Just give us more BP, generally! Let us stack up all the BP in all the ways! It feels good when that happens. 2x BP events are when the game feels the best to play.
12 -
Didn't you guys say that the incentives were there to help with the grind in the absence of BBQ and WGLF? Since when is it now only for helping queue times? The grind is actually much worse now.
7 -
There's pretty well established psychology that disagrees with you. Devs for any game like this need to think about pacing the content. Unlocking everything all at once doesn't keep us playing as long.
I'll use myself as an example to show that even knowing about the psychology doesn't change it. I play much more when I have an incentive than when I just want to have fun. I played like a madman during anniversary event to get 2000 or so anniversary flans, stockpiling them and thinking "After this, I'll take it easy". Then the update came, and I played hard to P3 everyone so I could have perks. But even in the last 2 days, I'd see a random perk on a survivor (I'm a killer main) and think oh crap, if I hurry I can still level Adam and unlock his perks!
Now the update is here, and I played a ton of survivor the first day because of BP incentive. Now that there's no incentive, I'm playing killer to enjoy the new changes, but only in a relaxed way, enjoying being able to do any build I want, but still steering away from the killers who don't have flans. Basically, even when I'm full aware of what they're doing, I chase my points and play harder when I've got something to achieve instead of just enjoying the match.
That's why they do it. Also, not to be harsh here, but you said anything that gets removed is going to FEEL like a penalty. That's on you. They were shrinking the blood web by giving us all these perks and honestly I am SO, SO happy BBQ is gone. While I loved getting more bp, I felt like a hostage for that 4th perk slot. Now I can actually play the full build (i only use BBQ on Sadako right now and I enjoy the info) and design perks based on my goal for the game. For this patch, I basically got millions of BP of unlocked free perks and I got to use 4 perks of my choosing instead of 3. And I don't even need the bp. They're just for slowly and passively increasing prestige now. I couldn't be happier.
1 -
I dunno if the patch has been out for long enough to determine whether it is worse, but it definitely feels worse, because they took away things that were previously greasing the BP wheels -- and there's no way to not make that feel like a penalty, even if they add other positive incentives in. ~48 hours out from the patch, one of those incentives is now turned off, so it feels like they're just taking away all the nice things.
BHVR is consistently deficient when it comes to analyzing the human component of how a change feels vs. what it accomplishes, vis a vis whatever game analytics and numbers they are looking at. For example, back when they maintained the stance that "Object of Obsession is fine, because our stats say that most survivors who bring it in don't escape." Well, that's great, but it still didn't feel fine. They tend to make changes like this VERY robotically.
I also think they've been disingenuous with how they have framed their intentions around the grind. It's two steps forward, one step back in terms of making it seem like a good set of changes (and in some ways I think it is). But they've sort of just rearranged the deck chairs so that the grind is mostly just the same as before, but a little different. My assumption is that they are too scareded to actually just reduce a lot of the grinds and costs across the board because it will impact their metrics or whatever nonsense, but they refuse to just give us some straight talk about what their goals are here as a business. I'm of the opinion that they should just be really generous about handing things out for free, and making it much easier, with no strings attached and no "we're adding X, buuuuuuut we're taking Y away."
Just give us everything. Make it easier, full stop, no downsides. Increase all normal everyday BP gains by like 100%, make everything cost less in the bloodwebs, knock the prestige rollover down to level 20 instead of level 50. Who cares? It would be a good time for everyone.
5 -
Well, I really want them to just come out and say "we have to design it to keep you playing longer, and this is a psychological necessity to our business model" without sugarcoating it. Just say it and own it along with all the obvious ire it will come with, if that's really the case.
I'm of the opinion, mostly, that if you can't just play a game for fun without any other meta-gamification to it, then something's wrong with the game. I would be super happy if the wall were just dramatically lowered, and it would especially help new players a lot.
3 -
If the incentive isn't an always active thing to switch sides for BP, then its overall worse. That's half of earned BP.
2 -
You didn't get those perks "free". You still have/had to level up the characters. Nothing in this life is free, especially perks in dead by daylight.
2 -
Ehh, I'm happy to tighten up the semantics if you like. I leveled up Adam Francis from 1-50 in one day by spamming Sadako and Doctor matches during my work conference calls. With flans being used left and right, and bbq on my killers, it was a piece of cake. P1'd him, and when the update hit he was P3. Instant T3 perks on all my survivors.
I've played for about a year. When I say "free", I mean I already paid my time to play the character, and one day they said "now we'll take your progress and instantly unlock all perk tiers for you!". It didn't cost me any more than I already agreed to pay.
If I sell you a boat for $5000, and when I deliver it, I also give you a nice bottle of wine, the bottle of wine was free. Just because you paid me doesn't mean the bottle of the wine is suddenly part of the cost. We agreed on a price and you got something more than you expected. I logged in once the patch hit and instead of a bunch of scattered perks and zero prestige killers/survivors (i never prestiged because i didnt want to lose addons), I ended up with over half my catalog P3'd and perks unlocked.
So yeah, I got it for free. You're wrong.
0 -
i mean some of this stuff being used to offset other grind issues introduced to create a net negative reduction doesn't mean much when stuff like the forced prestige cost sure as hell works as intended.
1 -
"When I say "free", I mean I already paid my time to play the character,"
So it wasn't free. It cost you time.
Also, I have no idea what line of work you're in, but that bottle of wine isn't free. It's a tax write-off that comes out of your and my pocket.
The more I read of your post, the more I realize how dumb this sounds. LOL
" I logged in once the patch hit and instead of a bunch of scattered perks and zero prestige killers/survivors (i never prestiged because i didnt want to lose addons), I ended up with over half my catalog P3'd and perks unlocked."
If you got that many people prestiged when you logged in, you definitely spent time on those characters, which means again, they aren't giving it to you for free, you still had to spend time leveling those characters and going through their bloodweb. (edited out a part I misremembered). Also, they prestiged you based on how many perks you'd unlocked on those characters, which again means that you spent time leveling those characters.
So honestly, I'm kinda calling BS.

You're having a very hard time with this. I also think it's weird to get so caught up in semantics. If you prefer you can stop fixating on the monetary value of perceived asset and instead say CHANGE GOOD CUZ GET NEW THING WE DID NOT GET BEFORE.
But yes, it was free. You're having trouble understanding the point. First of all, you didn't enter into a transaction where you agreed to pay your time for a service. You bought a game and played it, and along the way your time was rewarded by some bonus stuff. There was never a value placed on your time by the company. They didn't agree to compensate you.
And that can be set aside, because if I asked you 2 months ago "so what did you do to get all those characters unlocked?" You'd proudly spout off about how you traded your valuable time. Full stop. Then the patch comes out, and a bunch of new thing fell in your lap. That was never part of the deal, champ. You didn't know that was ever going to be in the game, so you used your time to play Dead by Daylight, you unlocked some characters and invested into their little blood webs, and one day you got WAY more than you initially expected and didn't have to do anything differently.
You lose.

No I don't - you still invested time into the game. Therefore you didn't get anything for free. That's that. You spent time going through bloodwebs to level up those characters. That's time spent. Therefore, once again, it cost you time. Your arguments are still poor.
"I DID THESE THINGS WHICH IS WHAT THEY USE TO QUANTIFY WHAT THEY SHOULD GIVE ME, THEREFOR IT WAS FREE!" No it wasn't. You still spent time unlocking the very perks you're saying you got for free in the first place (which is why what you say is BS LOL) You're either lying about having all your characters at 50, or you're lying about how much they got prestiged after the patch. LOL
"And that can be set aside, because if I asked you 2 months ago "so what did you do to get all those characters unlocked?" You'd proudly spout off about how you traded your valuable time. Full stop"
What did I do to get all the characters unlocked? I bought them.

This has to be one of the most incompetent things BHVR has done
9 -
"What did I do to get all the characters unlocked? I bought them."
[
Yep. And you got your money's worth. Then they came around and gave you a bunch of extra stuff without having to spend any more of you're money. You're welcome for all the FREE stuff you got.
RIP public school system

It's not free if I spent time and bloodpoints to get there. LOL Time is a resource. So are bloodpoints. Therefore, no, nothing was free LOL
In addition to that, as I pointed out before, if you're saying that all your characters got prestiged after the patch, that means you already had the majority of perks unlocked on those characters, thereby making your entire argument moot. LOL Like I said, you're lying about one of these two things.
1 -
Nah, the most incompetent thing was them screwing up a simple copy-paste for the 5th Anniversary cakes and then leaving them bugged for like 3 weeks because they all went on vacation.
1 -
It's now been like 36 hours since this got killswitched, and it's still not turned back on. I dunno why it takes them forever to fix any issue whatsoever. If this were League of Legends or some other big game-as-service they'd have an issue like this sorted out inside of a day.
2 -
what is the deal not giving us at least 50K bonus in BP on both sides dev took BBQ/WGLF bonus away
what with the greed with BP it not money
making the game less greedy was BS game going to die soon anyway oh well.
4 -
they legit said it will take them two weeks to fix this. ETA for 6.1.2.
this a joke. unacceptable QA.
2 -
Their unwillingness to address issues quickly is so bad.
