Positive Rating Drop
In the past 2 days the positive rating on steam store for this game dropped from 83% to 79%. Pretty sure there's a reason for that.

That's not really all that significant honestly.

Now this is something I can get behind.
If you are on steam, if you're unhappy with the update let it be known by living a game review.
28 -
This time, and only this time...I can see why.
20 -
its just the usual review bomb tactic. Why people put more effort into that than actually adapting to patches is beyond me.
18 -
There's is nothing to adapt.
31 -
then everyone must have quit, but for some reason i still see people playing
4 -
Killers still played when dead hard was a thing, your point?
33 -
The only way to adapt to something that is no longer fun is to find something else that is fun. It's an entertainment product, not a job. People are adapting by switching to killer or not playing any longer.
Like if a manufacturer sold you a car that is very unreliable. Do you adapt by:
a) fixing it all the time?
b) switching to another brand?
I don't know about you, but I don't need to spend my entertainment time being frustrated. That's counterproductive.
29 -
I won 70% of my killer games when dead hard was a thing. Now I win 90%. Your point?
4 -
Pretty silly to me.
People would rather cry than learn how to do skill checks and do gens efficiently.
8 -
It's an entertainment product. Chases were entertaining and they are now shorter. Gens were not entertaining and they are now longer. A game is not a job and should not have increased parts that are not fun.
29 -
If it's just 4% for patch this big, I'd say they are doing rather good job tbh.
4 -
You're right, they did. They sucked up how awful it was and changed their strategies, like they were told.
Its hard to not make this an us vs them argument when one side is so vehemently unwilling to change.
14 -
Cool, you just explained why so many people didnt bother with the killer role for so long. also why so many left the game after CoH was introduced.
1 -
So you are really saying they did a...
7 -
It is always the unhappy people that will go to the forums or the reviews to shout out loud. It is pretty rarely the positive opinions that do the effort to spread their opinion, because why when everything is fine
2 -
what would be your solution then? sounds so simple if I read your post. longer chases and shorter gens so everyone is happy? wait...
1 -
Chases were entertaining to people because they required no effort on the survivor's part and they could greed pallets for free. Now that they can't they're throwing a fit instead of actually learning how to loop, chases are still a thing and if anything more rewarding because you know you're actually outplaying the killer now.
Longer gens are a bit of an issue but a thana reversion fixes that.
2 -
No need to make up stuff. People didn't leave in mass when COH was introduced. Survivor queue time didn't increase. Entertainment value in being a killer is being in chases. COH didn't reduce killer time in chase. Now, imagine if they added 10 second hook cooldown, when all you could do is just stand without moving wiping your weapon.. That would surely make people leave.

How did they change their strategies? By camping and tunneling? Then what is the excuse now?
22 -
A lot of killers quit because dead hard was broken, and no one blamed them for it, because it was legitimately broken. Which is why they changed it.
6 -
Jesus christ, is this community really review bombing the game because of some balance changes? If killers did that every single patch with nerfs this game would already have very negative reviews.
6 -
the steamcharts comparison has been a constant downward trend literally since then, its something that gets brought up a lot by killer mains. What is even the point of your reasoning when its not about time in chase, but rather number of chases? The entire problem with CoH is that it killed hit and run playstyles and forced the killer meta toward camping and tunneling which is endemic now as a result of people adapting.
3 -
You misunderstood, 4% IN 2 DAYS. The drop hasn't stopped yet, it's just the beginning.
4 -
Lmao this is not what happened. Killers got told to just "bait it out" repeatedly and that DH wasn't actually a problem, let's not do revisionist history here.
11 -
Literally yes, they did. If you remove other playstyles, camping and tunneling become more prominent. Not doing so can easily be straight up throwing the game if the survivors are skilled enough to press their advantage, so most killers just do it to play it safe. Its literally what survivors ask for when they beg for with most killer nerfs, they want them to revert to the lowest common denominator.
2 -
It proves a lot actually, it's the difference between people liking your game and inviting other people to play it, and hating your game and warning everyone off of it. If you check the latest posts on twitter from BHVR you'll see after this patch pretty much everyone is just saying "don't even play this game if you're new".
6 -
It'll continue to drop unless major changes occur.
19 -
This is what i don't understand. being annoyed with changes is perfectly understandable, but review bombing is straight up throwing a tantrum. Both sides have certainly had their share of dark times and game breaking bugs, but this reaction is peak entitlement. Reviews are supposed to be based on your overall experience, not a current state of a shifting game. You can include that information in a review, but thats not the same at all.
6 -
The reason why chases were entertaining doesn't change the fact that the entertainment value is lost. The end result is the same: entertainment product should be entertaining.
"instead of actually learning how to loop" - looping requires resources. Pallets are gone faster now. Without pallets and with increased bloodlust any noob can bloodlust themselves to a kill. Also, a lot of looping relied on mind games. With IW nerf, there is no mindgaming someone with headphones.
6 -
Run windows and you will not only always know where resources are, but you'll have the information to use them more intelligently. I will never take this argument seriously when i see people wasting them on purpose to try to get pallet stun points and creating deadzones in the process.
Also if you honestly think IW is dead because its only a 75% reduction, you either don't know about some characters having different voice volumes to start, or that sounds are reduced when crouching still as well, OR you've just straight up never heard how much audio garbage is going on with chase music and inconsistent sound attenuation.
1 -
" Reviews are supposed to be based on your overall experience, not a current state of a shifting game." - actually, that's just something you made up. Reviews are supposed to be based on current state. What's the point of basing review on something that is no longer true?
So, that's not review bombing. That's just honest description of current state of things.
12 -
Yeah it is pretty petty to say the least, even if I agree that the balance changes may have gone a bit too far this time it really isn't any excuse to be acting this way.
0 -
Literally still looping killers for 1-2 gens a chase and that's if I don't lose them so what on earth are you talking about?
1 -
Lol, checked out the negative reviews, this one from two days ago is gold. 😄
"I can't play the game anymore. My best character was clown and i cant find an update how the 'worst killer' became worse. I'm not willing to deal with stress relearning the game anymore. I made the mistake of replaying and i feel more handicapped than when the clown had 1 bottle"
How in the world can somebody play after this patch and think Clown got worse? Clown definitely got a buff.

review bombing is when you take a single issue with a game and organize people to give a game bad reviews specifically because of it, and specifically when its a timely issue. It should never be a single issue leading reviews of an entire game, but it especially should have a boycott mentality behind it. Like i said, its throwing a tantrum because you're not getting your way, and trying to create a mob mentality to use as backup.
1 -
As someone who dabbles in game development, its extremely frustrating to me. This game's community needs a massive grain of salt to go with its feedback, but single issue reviews are the most transient and worthless ones any game can have. People don't really realize that reviews are a succeed/pass/fail structure, and that the written part is explaining your reasoning. It never has the impact they assume because they don't acknowledge that people won't bother reading their review most of the time. People just see green/yellow/red and don't take any context most times.
2 -
Because killer wasn't that bad in previous update even with dead hard, never as bad as current survivor. Even before all these buffs good killer mains had already massive winrates and solo q low escape rate, this patch doesn't make any sense if it gets review bombed its deserved
6 -
Game has 610k reviews on Steam, a 4% drop is a decent amount of people giving it a bad one.
14 -
I remember after the RE chapter people gave DBD a bunch of bad reviews and IGN just happened to re-review DBD giving it a 9/10. I have a feeling we'll see them do another positive review of DBD in a week or two. 😂
4 -
I gave the game a thumbs down long before the latest patch :)
I still enjoy playing the game, I just wouldn’t recommend it for new players. The grind is still awful and BHVR seem to make most of their changes based on what they think is best for the game rather than based on player feedback.
6 -
You are making stuff up again. Tell, where is that rules or law that says you can't base review on single issue? If I review a car and say the engine blew up after a thousand miles, is that somehow invalid review because it's based only on engine, but door handles are still working?
You are also making stuff up and showing your prejudice talking about mob mentality. If you like it, it's community mentality. If you hate it, it's mob mentality. See how easy it is to show your prejudice?
7 -
How is a car's engine blowing up the same thing as a patch in a video game? You keep repeating I'm making stuff up and that's your comparison point?
1 -
Both are single issue. You said that it's somehow not valid to make review based on single issue. So you go ahead and tell me more about this magic rule.
2 -
I said they're transient and worthless, and that they're an intimidation tactic. I never said they're not allowed to exist, just that review bombing is purposely polluting feedback with malicious intent.
3 -
That's like, maybe 24K people.
If 2 million people log in per day, that's insignificant.
2 -
Its 24k people and in Steam around 40k people log every day or so, depends on the month, it can be checked on Steamcharts.
5 -
And yet, when I hit 90% great skillchecks and my team is split pushing gens, its still not enough to combat thana and mending, because you have less than 1 survivor working on a gen at a time.
For a patch that was supposed to stop camping and tunneling, I sure see a lot more camping and tunneling.
9 -
Don't kid yourself, this was NOT a good patch, and no amount of time in the world will change that. You know what will? Another patch that addresses the issues that this patch brought. But the thing is, it won't happen. Because the devs in BHVR don't see killers tunneling and camping as wrong. They see it as "proper gameplay". Which is the reason why it's never been fixed.
6 -
No, it's around 40k concurrent people. That's different than 40k people daily
