Paragraph Concept: Licensed Phasmophobia Crossover

A killer idea that has come up a lot in the past few years has been the idea of shapeshifting, or some sort of power that allows the player to swap between different abilities. Playing Phasmophobia recently, I realized that it would be a perfect addition to the game, with developers that could be incredibly interesting to see being worked with, especially in regards to sound design.

With this in mind, I came up with an idea of what this Paragraph could look like, and I'm interested to see what you all think about it:

The Mimic is a shapeshifting killer, able to transform into a variety of different types of paranormal beings using its power, Spirit Swap, in order to hunt down and sacrifice survivors.

Its personal perks, Scourge Hook: Electrical Disturbance, Call of the Void, and Everlasting Hunt, allow it to make use of past chases and efficiently put pressure on remaining survivors.

Its power allows it to quickly adapt to scenarios in its environment and better hunt down survivors during chases.

Difficulty Rating: Very Hard

Gender: Unknown

Height: Average

Weapon: Sickle/Stick/Axe (Randomized, same animations)

Terror Radius: 36 Meters

Power: Spirit Swap

Ability Animation: Raises weapon and summons a white particle, then sends it forward.

Ability: Pressing the Active Ability button allows you to change between 5 different ghost variants: Yurei, Thaye, Rajiu, Revenant, and Deogen (Power button to swap [tap] or choose [hold for 3 seconds], 5 second cancel cooldown if Active Ability button is pressed again, 10 second cooldown, can't M1 while swapping).

  • In every form, survivors will lose Sanity at a rate of 1c/s (total of 100c) when farther than 16 meters from a generator (you can tell this per survivor using their icon, and the average can be seen on the killer power icon).
  • In order to switch form, average sanity between all living survivors must be less than 60. Survivors can find pills (6 in trial, 20m visibility radius, 2 second interact timer) that will increase Sanity by 25c.
  • Pressing the Power button will charge an Airball (1 second charge, 2 second cooldown, travels at 4.2m/s) that will lower Sanity by 5c for hit survivors, along with playing a notification for the survivor and killer. It can go through walls, and has the ability to be cancelled with an M1.
  • The Yurei (white survivor icon) Form allows Airballs to lower an additional 5c in Sanity, and does not need a Sanity threshold to be switched to.
  • The Thaye (blue survivor icon) Form requires an average Sanity less than 40, but moves at 4.8m/s, has a 40m terror radius, and kicks walls/pallets 30% faster when no generators have been completed. For every generator fixed, terror radius is reduced by 5m, .1m/s is lost from speed, and the breaking bonus is lessened by 5%.
  • The Raiju (yellow survivor icon) Form moves 4.8m/s when within 15 meters of a generator. Kicked generators regress by 125% over time.
  • The Revenant (red survivor icon) Form moves at 5m/s when in direct sight with a survivor (15m) and 4m/s when it is not.
  • The Deogen (green survivor icon) Form moves at 5m/s when not in direct sight with a survivor (25m) and 4m/s when it is. Survivors within 10m have their auras revealed. Terror radius is reduced to 0, and lunge goes an additional 50%.

These are Perks which start off only appearing in The Mimic's Bloodweb. After achieving Level 30, Teachable versions of these Perks can be found:

[Scourge Hook: Electrical Disturbance]: When hooking a survivor on a scourge hook, generators within 10 meters of your location within the past 30/35/40 seconds lose 10% progress.

"New intel: reports of light switching. Possibly harmless, but be careful out there." - Unknown

[Call of the Void]: When a survivor is unhooked, healthy survivors farther than 60 meters are inflicted with the Exposed status effect for 45 seconds (cooldown of 45 seconds).

"Give us a sign." - Unknown

[Everlasting Hunt]: After kicking a generator, windows within 10 meters of all survivors are blocked for 30 seconds (cooldown of 60 seconds).

"Looks like there are others out there in need of help." - Unknown

  • **EMF Reader** - When in the Deogen or Revenant form, speed boost is increased by 1m/s, but the penalty is increased by 1m/s as well.

Ultra Rare:

  • **Broken Crucifix** - Survivors with less than 25% Sanity are inflicted with Exposed until they raise it above 60%.
  • "Evidence of paranormal activity is high in demand, but acquiring evidence is an extremely dangerous task." - Ghost Huntin': A Survivor's Guide
  • **Music Box** - Survivors that use Pills when above 60% Sanity have their aura revealed for 8 seconds with a Loud Noise Notification.
  • "This intricate little box has been created with the sole purpose of communicating with the dead." - Ghost Huntin': A Survivor's Guide

Counterplay: Survivors should stay near generators and take pills when their sanity is lower than 75%. If all survivors are alive, they can afford to have one person at 0%, while the others maintain 100%. In the early-game, I would assume that survivors would be wary in order to avoid allowing The Mimic to enter the Thaye form, wherein it has a more oppressive chase than the Revenant and Deogen forms. In the latter two, survivors will have to move around structures and tiles in a much different way to avoid giving them the 5m/s speed boost.

Of course, I took liberties with the add-ons, and it may not be possible to implement certain elements of them, as well as the perks, within the parameters of DBD. The main focus of this is really the power itself, which would reward good players and keep survivors on their toes with constant changes in playstyle. I haven't really seen anybody suggesting Phasmophobia as a possible license holder to work with, despite the massive amount of players that actively play the game.

I'd love to hear what your thoughts on this are, as well as any changes you'd like to see with such a crossover.
