Escape rates vs fun this patch
Does anyone else feel like now that some time has passed the matches seem to be closer to the idealized 50% escape rate again but the quality of the matches is mostly meh? I'm not sure exactly what it is....
The chases feel more predictably lost.
Or endgame is now watered down to just leave when the doors are powered. I used to love pulling off late game saves, but I normally just end up dead a short distance from the saved guy so why bother.
Is it just too much time planted on generators doing nothing but holding M1?
Maybe it's just the number of matches that seem good are preciously few and far between.
I don't know what's broken BHVR. We as a community have tried to give our best guesses but something isn't right. I escape about 50% of the time now and I think that's just because my MMR tanked post patch. I preferred my 50% escape rate in 6.0 though.

Personally I don't see any problem, game is same.

Endgame actually has some risk for survivors now instead of being completely safe, that's all.

But has that made the endgame more fun for you?

It's certainly more balanced for both side, and also fair amount of people have fun in the risk.

I just see more people leaving immediately now. Gen pops, 20 seconds later first person is out the door. Before, the doors would get 99'd more and whoever was still alive would come back most of the time. Now whoever is on that last hook...well they are just going to die there.
That's just one aspect of it though and I don't necessarily even believe that is the biggest thing. The game just feels more...meh. There really isn't a better word for it.

Feels like killers are playing more agressively and more dirty as well, which dampers a lot of the fun I had pre patch. As a beginner player, my escape rate already wasn't stellar but now it's just L-O-L, and the fun is also at an all time low unless I play killer.
Doing gens is boring and unrewarding in terms of points, but you can't afford to go find totems or open chests anymore. It's pretty much M1 or die.

Absolutely not. 9 out of 10 games is a 4k at 3-4 gens remaining.

They're never going to please everyone balancing for a single a queue with all playstyles in that queue. If they want the game to be more competitively balanced, fine. But then you need to come up with solutions for players who are more casual and for more competitive players who queue up solo and die because their team won't play optimally.
Want to put me against a Starstruck/Agi Nurse every other game? Awesome. But don't give me an instant queue with teammates running loot builds with no exhaustion. Nobody is going to have fun in that game.

- The stats I’m seeing on an aggregate site I’m following do indicate the kill rate is still maybe 9% higher than pre-patch but not as high as it was the first few days when survivors were getting used to it.
- You mentioned the “chases feel predictably lost” but the killer SHOULD win chases eventually. If the survivors can reliably outrun killers much of the time then the killer can’t actually kill anybody by the time the gens are done and they escape. Chases ultimately are supposed to be about delaying the inevitable but not indefinitely so.
- Likewise I’m not seeing why survivors wanting to leave when the exits are powered is a bad thing? Honestly that SHOULD be the norm, the survivors should want to leave ASAP, not hang around and do whatever for 5 minutes when the doors are available.
- I don’t like playing as survivor because of downtime in general. Too much of the game for me as a survivor is spent on a gen with no killer nearby or on a hook or on the ground dying.

The game is more fun overall. When someone throws a tantrum and DCs at 5 gens or afks it's not as much fun but that's not the game's issue; that's the issue of the rage DCer. A few of the 3 v1 ended up in two escapes anyway

I agree last patch was more fun for some reason, even playing killer is pretty boring now you can win most games against average teams in automatic mode without really trying, I'm repeating myself but only dead hard nerf was needed, they might have ruined the game by touching survivor speed boost, attack cooldowns and bloodlust

This is why I switched to cross off again.
Sure I'm mostly getting sweaty nurses and huntresses and blights, but my team mates are way better.

I agree generally with point #2, but it may be that the chase buffs for killer are just a bit overtuned (thus making lots of average surivors feel like they're getting completely destroyed in chases now compared to before). Yes, people will get used to the changes over time, but some slight number tweaks might be in order to make things feel just a little bit better.
For point #3, I think OP was talking about saving teammates during the endgame. Endgame saves feel much harder to pull off than before (especially for Solo Queue) due to perk changes and killer chase buffs, so people are more likely to just leave than try to help someone off the hook in endgame. Basically, that makes endgame less exciting.

I think the chases are generally ok other than STBFL probably should be tweaked so its total net attack speed with 8 tokens is the same as it was with 8 tokens pre-patch. The pre-patch version of that perk was already pretty solid and used quite a bit (not top 10 but above average). In this new post-patch environment though the total speed at 8 tokens is just slightly too fast probably, to the point that for instance it can be hard to make a hook save if the killer hits you before you get hit a second time. (The window of error for the rescuer is significantly smaller.)
The other thing related to chases that probably could use a tweak is Decisive Strike at 3 second seems too short, the distance the survivor gets from it is just very small. I think it needs to go to 4 seconds, a compromise between where it was before and where it is now.
But otherwise for the most part the new recovery times seem fine.

It’s an aggregate site that people upload their games to. The mods don’t want links to these sites posted though because they typically use Steam API as an upload option and the game doesn’t officially support that.
Also the kill rate was up almost 16% early on, the 9% is more recent, so you’re wrong about the kill rate being as high now as it was when the patch first hit.
