The worst designed killer: The Oni
I'm an achievement #########, and I'm currently trying to do the Oni's achievements. Usually I'd say 75 downs with an ability isn't the worst of achievements, but in this case, this may be one of the worst. Scratch that, Adept Oni has to be worse. But there isn't actually anything wrong with the achievements in of themselves. Every killer has their own Adept challenges, and there are some killers with useless perks, and some with amazing, but really it comes down to their kit.
The Oni's kit is appalling for a Melee killer. No stealth, a bit like the OG Trapper and Hillbilly, but can traverse the map super quick like the Hillbilly. This should compensate for the fact that you are super slow and your ability is very clunky feeling, however, you're limited to using it once you have filled your gauge. The problem? Filling your gauge requires you to hit survivors which is nigh on impossible for this guy.
I struggle to see the strengths of the Oni, other than he can rapidly change direction of his charged attack if a person tries to dodge it, however, with the PoV you are given as killer whilst holding up your sword, it is quite tricky to even see where the survivor runs to.
Some of my suggested changes I'd personally like to see is:
Greater Field of View for the Oni, I know there are perks for this, but I shouldn't need a perk to be able to see through my attacks. I'd be very curious to see what it'd be like for a killer to have a survivors point of view... Would it be broken? Maybe, but I don't think anything would be considered broken on this killer right now.
Instant cast on Blood Fury (no more holding up his hands and walking slower whilst activating it... if Mike can surprise hit T3 and instant down somebody, I don't see why the Oni can't enter Blood Fury and then spend 2 seconds charging his auto attack to instant down you either).
Auto absorb.. I think it goes without saying that having to hold right click and absorb orbs at a reduced movement speed mid chase is the worst thing about the Oni. It feels like you're shooting yourself in the foot to then be thrown on the ground and stamped on because the payoff isn't even a payoff. You are hindering yourself for a pretty awful ability in the first place. I think when you're in a chase you should automatically absorb the orbs of the survivor you are chasing.

i enjoy oni a lot and no, hes more than strong enough and even getting his bloodfury much faster than he should currently due to a increased blood drop glitch on rush actions

I man you have to be decent enough with M1 gameplay to get your first hit quickly enough and get a couple more as and when needed but if you're playing him properly you should be getting it pretty regularly afterwards (meaning without the current bug too). And Oni while in his power is probably the strongest thing in the game on the killer side, if he had it permanently he'd outclass nurse imo.

Can I ask are you playing on console or PC? Because he’s one of the prime examples of a killer that is notably superior on PC. I really tried to “git gud” with him on console and I had to put my sensitivity at max to even begin to be able to drift and turn the way I’ve seen PC players do.
I do agree though that the way they’ve designed his FOV is weird.

I play on PC. I do have to admit I don't make use of his dash too much, but that's because any survivor I find just finds a place with a vault location and many turns and there's no hope of touching them at that point. And by the time I drift off to somewhere else I know the next survivor will do the same. I just feel like there is no anti loop mechanic at all. I can't give up on every survivor I find otherwise I'd never down anybody x.x I don't seem to have this issue on any other melee killer, just the Oni

Do you not find that he is very easily looped? You can't turn walls that fast with his dash and if you miss an attack the punishment is so severe.

There's a trick called wall running you can employ. Basically you can just hug a wall at an angle and slide along it so you come around a corner already facing where you need to go which severely increases your chase capabilities. It takes a while to get the knack of it and I can't do it because of motion sickness but it's something.

Oni is a pub stomper imo, probably doesnt need any buffs.
But yeah, if you just predrop and hold w against oni and delay giving him that first hit, nothing much the poor guy can do.

Oni is a strong killer if you know how to snowball and with the properate perks can be very easy
And because I see a lot of people struggling to get their power you can use spowdown so that gens don't pop at the start of the trial that much
But one personal problem I have with oni is that his time in blood fury is very short . And I am not talking about walking in the map with the power activated because everyone when has his power on will go into demon dash and run around the map and because that's consumes a lot of his power I think this should consume less or extend the duration for his base kit (not the add ons)
I played oni in the past and I think that his power was activated for a much longer time but now it's very short. I don't know 🤷♀ . I might have used some add ons
And also if you have survivors that hold w or throw down every pallet at the start if the match and you can't get your power then it's just gg because oni must get his power as fast as possible because his map pressure is 0

I love my Big Daddy Oni, I have started learning his "flicks" and that's fun, but maps are some of his biggest obstacles because of small pixels that can stop your dash or getting caught in a corner mid dash can get annoying

That I can believe. I should have added to my original comment that even with my sensitivity on max I was still turning with the grace of a truck as opposed to a tank. It can’t be good for my analogue sticks.

Oni is fun to play once in a while

Oni is a snowball killer like myers is.
He has a weak start but can turn things very fast around once his ability comes online.
Problem with Oni is that if you are still learning him that he is very hard. If you can't make his demon dashes count you will struggle
If you can then he quickle makes up for his weak early game

Agreed imagine Nurse like Oni, she would have to collect blood orbs on map before able to use her power for very limited time LOL

Although I respect your opinion i disagree, the oni is definitely one of the more balanced killers in the game, and one of the strongest. (A tier imo) sure he has a weak game at the start, but all you need is one hit and follow that survivor till your power is up. If you have infectious fright, you can end a game as oni really fast. I also disagree with the pov, you don't have to hold in onis club attack, you can hold his attack for about a second and you'll get that instant down.

I don't know, Oni is actually one of my favorites. I'd say he's at his strongest right now (other than his initial PTB release).
The best counter play against Oni is prethrowing and playing safe at every pallet. Faster breaking means you chew through the pallets faster. At short loops, faster Bloodlust means you can force a hit faster. I think his power is incredibly enjoyable to use.

I understand the frustration as I, too am an achievement hunter. I'm only missing 5 right now and only 1 of them is for killer.
I have to say I am surprised you prefer getting 300 rank ups on Myers (generally over 100+ matches and he is one of the weakest killers), or 20 24 yard Hatchet throw downs on players (when you get to high MMR the only time this is generally possible is with them healing in the exit gate taunting you, or an iridescent from nowhere), or 3 teleport grab someone off a gen/unhook as Nurse. I am sure there are other ones that I wasn't excited to do. At least trapping 100 people with Trapper is way easier with the dead hard fix now but that one was also a doozy.
