So... Why BHVR does this?
It is the second time in this year they have kill-switched a killer. The first time it was Nurse and now it is Clown. That is okay, if something is bugged it shouldn't be in the game. But why can't we have access to their loadouts and bloodwebs?
Now that the prestige affects all other characters giving you their perks and charms, you should be at least able to put BPs on them while they are in maintenance. If their problem is their gameplay, you could just lock the "READY" button and allow access to their menu.

I think it had something to do with a bug pertaining to his yellow bottles I think. Might be wrong. I don’t pay attention like I should anymore.

Its more code than you think. Being able to access a killer in lobby but not in a match would conflict with alot of code and construction of the game. Your explanation can deffinatly be done but it would be much more time consuming and difficult than just completley killswitching which they did

Valid complaint honestly, Killers are worth more then their gameplay with the way the perk system is used in this game. Probably a spaghetti code issue though.

Right, I think the original poster was asking though why they can't just keep you from hitting Ready with Clown to start a match so that you can still buy bloodwebs on him in order to unlock his perks on other characters.

It's really not, especially since you can't switch killers in a lobby. Disabling the "ready" button when a kill-switched killer is currently selected should be straightforward.

Yeah, if Sadako ever breaks I want to at the very least be able to spend BP on her.
