I’m Seeing A Lot More Tunneling With Less Effective Counterplay

For the record I have no issue with whatever Playstyle someone favors. The main point of this post is to address counterplay viability to certain playstyles.


Normally I don’t take to the forums with these types of topics however I feel like as recent as the mid chapter patch things have changed and not for the better.


The purpose of anti-tunnel perks is to discourage killers from focusing 1 survivors until they kill them. However with the new pace of gen speeds I noticed a lot of higher mmr killers don’t seem to care about BT, DS, or OTR. Especially with how quickly killers can now catch up to a survivor who they just got stunned from by DS. It seems more effective now to just tunnel since you don’t have to worry about gens being completely as fast and the payoff is better.


I don’t think it’s a bad idea to consider reverting the nerf to DS as in its current state majority of the time you will go down again immediately because you couldn’t even gain enough distance to a pallet or window.


I really think they should revisit some of these perks to try and help counter this playstyle more because currently I’m experiencing more tunneling than I’ve experienced in years.

    Reverting DS entirely would be insane. Reverting the stun would be alright. Heck, allow them to keep it during conspicuous actions to compensate.


    The free escape is a big no-no, however. But whatever, I am used to it. I guess it does not matter.

    I was referring to the stun time being reverted back to 5 seconds. Not the free stab before you’ve even been hooked lol.

    I had assumed that because tunneling and camping is no longer (usually) necessary, people wouldn't do it. It wasn't a very fun way to play the game and I always felt like I was absolutely ruining that Survivors experience and while I will prioritize my own experience, I don't want to be a total dick.


    However, that was not the case, it seems. Since tunneling and camping have been made easier and with fewer punishments, players are taking full advantage of that to secure wins as fast and as easily as possible. Which is fine, you are allowed to try to win. The issue is that it is causing Survivor to be a horrid experience.

    People are typically going to do whatever gives them the best chance to win. I don't see how naive devs have to be to think that killers would have some honor code. Look at all the extra gen regression you see now, it's even worse than before because with the extra 10 seconds it gives you that much more benefit to run them.
