Leave Mettle of Man alone!
I mean sure. Mettle of Man is a lousy perk, but it's at least fun. Also, MoM never needed a rework that could potentially make it better. It needed a buff to make it more viable. I know that BHVR can do some, questionable changes, but are they seriously gonna pull a Calm Spirit 2.0 (making a bad perk even worse)?
The new Mettle of Man is gonna be worse in every possible way. You're not gonna get the opportunity to use this perk because you literally can't do anything without losing it since it's getting real Endurance.
And the aura reading? Srly, are you gonna make it even crucial for the user? All Mettle of Man needed was the aura reading to be removed.
Why don't you nerf Buckle Up as well while you're at it, huh?

When the Devs nerf a F tier survivor perk for some reason

Did i miss something? Did MoM suddenly rise to meta? With the amount of threads about the nerf, one could believe that this was the second most used perk next to DH.

People have been asking for MoM buffs for a while. Not that I agree the perk needed a buff, but it's a perk that people like even if no one is using it.

Original MoM was busted. So maybe the devs are cautious buffing it again.

BHVR stop making unnecessary changes challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)

This change is more the devs wanting to make the Endurance effect from MoM to match the endurance effect granted by other perks. It's good for consistency, but the way they are going about the change just makes it bad.

Its not like its the first time or something like that...

It was a silly and fun perk that took a bunch of setup to possibly make big plays like saving in front of a facecamper or getting someone out of basement. I rarely got value from it, but when I did it allowed me to do ridiculous things as a reward for the work it took to activate it. With the new change, outside of body blocking twice rather than once (which is inconsistent as is because you lose collision after the first hit for like 5 seconds), it now cannot be used for...anything. Unhooking deactivates it. Healing a slug deactivates it. Healing yourself to get to full so you can take 2 hits deactivates it. And the killer is just going to ignore you anyway, because after you take a protection hit and the killer suddenly sees your aura, they know that as long as the aura is visible, you're useless to your team.

evil dead fans (they play Evil Dead the game)

You could couple it with Inner Strength, cleanse a totem before it activates, then jump into a locker once MoM is active = 3 health states. Combine with OtR for the same effect.

Mettle of man shouldn't be a thing. Just like dead hard shouldn't have been a thing. A third health state that activates after x. X being playing altruistically or just playing the game in the case of dead hard.
You either have to make it so hard to obtain nobody ever gets it without throwing or by demolishing the other side ,or it has to have tons of limitations applied to be fair(just like Thanat being trash on everyone except plague and legion)

This is more of a buff than a nerf. You now only need to take 2 protection hits instead of 3.
The 'downside' introduced is not realistically going to happen if you're using it the way it's intended.
Old Effect: You take one protection hit, you go away and heal. Next opportunity, you take a second protection hit, go away and heal up again. Third opportunity, you get to take two protection hits back to back because you gain endurance.
New Effect: You take one protection hit, you go away and heal. Next opportunity, you get to take two protection hits back to back because you gain endurance.
If you take your second protection hit and for some reason decide to leave the killer and let the survivor you tried to protect go down, you've already ######### up.

Of all survivor perks that I expected to see them nerf MoM was not it. No perk is safe from needless nerfs it seems. Better start preparing myself for when they nerf quick and quiet or streetwise out of the blue.

I would run a MoM Breakout Sabo build.
I would build it up over the course of the match. When it was ready I could stand under the hook, take a hit and immediately start a Sabo after the first hit. Now this will disable MoM making it worthless for the way I most enjoyed it.
Also with the killer buffs they failed to speed up Sabotage speed correspondingly. Killer had a 3s delay after a hit and with Sabo taking 2.5s from the perk, you had a tiny window where you could get in and out safely. Sabotage needs to be dropped to 2.25s or even 2s for the perk's usage.

Also I despise the Calm Spirit Nerf as well, I would throw it in builds occasionally because it was fun to test Iron Maiden against Huntress (which I get a disproportionately large amount of) and know without revealing myself.
Now everytime I go "oh maybe I should put on Calm Spirit, wait -30% ewwwwwww, maybe not."

One final thought, MoM is currently bugged due to the Deep Wound endurance change, and doesn't work with Dead Hard. If you Dead Hard and get Deep Wounded while MoM is active or becomes active from the Dead Hard, then MoM fails to activate.
Tinfoil hat time, I believe that this bug was too difficult to crack so they just decided to nerf MoM instead of fixing a bug.

I respectfully disagree. The old Mettle's one and only strength were that you could get a 3rd health state, with the downsides of it requiring 3 protection hits to activate and that the killer could see you when you healed up again.
But with the new one, you have to follow the killer around while they're chasing someone else. Since you can't use it for yourself anymore, and if you literally do anything you'll lose Mettle. And the killer won't chase you because they'll see that you have Mettle.
So BHVR pretty much removed Mettle's only strength and made one of its weaknesses even worse. And the fact that Legion and Deathslinger can pretty much ignore as well now just makes the perk worse.

BHVR being BHVR.

I never had an opinion about MoM (besides learning about the controversy about its introduction and how it was sorta pay to win for a week, then nerfed) and never got any use out of it, because that playstyle isn't for me, but my heart bleeds every time someone's favorite plaything gets destroyed for no reason at all. :<

Yea MoM was kinda bad. But it was so fun to use, and now BHVR is taking that away from us :(

You get endurance......and you get endurance......and here is a endurance for you!

You got my sympathy :<
I mean, I can somehow, maybe, barely see (if I squint very hard) that they didn't like MoMs strangely unique system that worked in its own ways and not simply as an Endurance effect, that they kinda like to slap onto things these days, but really, why is that a problem? It's not overused, its not widely abused; yeah some streamer made this 5 hit build, but that's more academic then an actual thing you would encounter in the wild (even though exactly this happened to me in the PTB and I got so confused. Lol), so why destroy everything that's a bit unique and outside the norm? This are the spicy perks that always are fun when encountered.

Yep, MoM was already very situational and now it's going to be thrown into the dumpster. Meanwhile, PR + DMS gets brought back and Thanatophobia basically stays the same against Legion and Plague. Survivors aren't allowed to have anything strong while killer's get everything strong. This double standard when it comes to killers is ridiculous.
