Hex perks vs SWF

Hello all I am a survivor main 70%/30% and I am slowly climbing the killer ranks and as I do this I have noticed that most of the SWF teams destroy my hex perks usually within the first minute.

Usually I have thrill of the hunt on so I can protect my totems but I have been going against a lot of teams lately that will start working on all the hex totems at the exact same time. making it impossible to save them all.

So I was wondering if anyone has tips for countering this since I have had to stop using hex perks.

Thats the counter right there, stop using hex perks.

At the very most use 1. (Or 2 if the second is Thrill or HG). Having loads is too much to defend and leaves you perkless. It's only good for fun builds, not long term viable builds.

Hex perks are a gamble. Treat them as such. The best way to protect your totems is to play around and patrol your totems instead of gens (if gens and totems spawn near each other, great!) Keep in mind how far you are from you totems and how fast you can travel to them. Slow killers are kinda stuck playing defensive. Faster killers can sprint back and forth and be a bit more aggressive.

However keep in mind patrolling your totems is only great as long as survivors are looking for your totems, and not just gen rushing you. If survivors are going after your totems you can pretty much count them as coming to you. Still get it in you head that totems are only there to slow the game down and buy you time to catch survivors. Otherwise you are just outta luck. Sometimes your totems pop right next to a Survivor, there is nothing to be done about it. Hex totems are always a gamble and a gimmick. Always assume you are going to lose your totems by endgame.

The best way to have total freedom is to not play with totems. If you just throw them into a build with no plans on protecting them, you just wasted a perk slot (unless you are against a noob survivor team.) As much as survivors will complain about this hex per or that hex perk, it is only as good as the killer is willing to defend them.

I disagree. I run 4 Hex's all the time at rank 1. I got the idea from the halloween event. If the survivors spend the first 3 minutes looking for my totems, instead of rushing gens, the game is much, much better paced.
If they clear them all out quick, good, that's what they are meant for.
That's why I run Ruin, Huntress' Lullaby, Thrill, And Devour.

They have to clear those totems or they get oppressive. While they run around looking for them and clearing them slowly, i get hooks.
As for being perkless. Killers don't really need them. I run naked Killers at Rank 1 all the time, and win. (I'll even do the Hag with no perks or ad-ons)

And th best part about the 4 hex build: I have gotten to mori people at rank 1 with Devour...A lot...

Sorry I should have stated I was doing this for a fun build, I was looking for tips because going against SWF take all of the fun out of them.

So glad I'm not the only one using Huntress Lullaby, it's a good perk and does exactly what you're talking about. When I first played Leatherface I barely had any good perks but once I started using Huntress Lullaby the games changed significantly because he suddenly had pressure on everyone and not just the person he's chasing. And even if the totem is eventually destroyed that means one or two people were scouring for that totem while I was chasing the third.

Also if you have Spirit, most people assume you have Haunted ground and if they see your totem and notice you don't have Ruin or HL they won't go for your totems, until they realize that you also had Devour Hope ;)

    Nothing you can do then.

They'll easily be able to co-ordinate to take them out together and the devs couldn't give a flying #########. To them swf is just as balanced as solo
