Old Ormond looked so much cozier
Idk if it's just the color pallete or maybe the fact that it was much foggier but I can't be the only one who prefered the old look? Besides the map remained just as survivor sided so the rework was kinda pointless?

You're not wrong.. There was actually some fog, offering stealth gameplay as a valid strategy. Unfortunately, the game has been changed into cat'n'mouse simulators, because people have found hiding to be boring, or what..
I can see, how can a daily map turn and offer into a horror nightmare, but they'd have had to change the game's music while playing, and that didn't happen.
So, instead of scary and more newbie friendly maps, we got so bright maps that you can spot a survivor from, like, over ~50 meters from afar.
It sucks, but it doesn't look like they do plan to increase the amount of fog and make maps darker like back in the day..

On that note, the ######### is the point of the murky reagent and the hazy reagent (and the killer equivalents to remove dark mist)? I haven't seen those offerings in years, they should just be disabled.

I feel the same. I wish they didn’t make ormond so bright without dark fog

The old sunk-into-the-floor fireplace was so much better too.

Waiting for the day that devs allow players to toggle on old lighting and whatnot.

Garden of joy is very foggy, arguably more foggy than old ormond. It's just inconsistent map design

I use them sometimes, they're actually pretty cool. Wish moon offerings didn't get removed

Any on the offerings that aren't map or bloodpoint related are always like this. They are actually opposite. The killer one that makes survivors spawn away from each other is bad for killer, just as the survivor one that makes them spawn together is bad for survivors.

Old maps generally looked better.

The latter one is situational

Depends

I like the new one cause of the color pallet I love the white and snowy look. It feels like winter and cold there. I didn’t feel it with the old version
The new one is still not a good map but holy ######### it’s miles better than the old one

I miss the old orange snow machine loop they used to have on ormond, it was like the autohaven crane but done a little different and when they added the new one it's just a loop now without the ramp and the window vault and it's a lot bigger than it was

I miss old Ormond a lot too. One of the best details was the snow crunching under your feet as you were walking or running. Now it only does that in certain areas. I miss most of the old maps. I had grown very attached to the old Haddonfield before the rework because it looked like the original game still and that was nice. I do like the changes made to the farm and MacMillan but all the rest are pretty awful. Gas Heaven feels like I'm playing on a postage stamp.

This screenshot looks really nice. Legion and Jeff is probably my favorite chapter in the game and this looks really fun. As cool as it is to have the barren snowy ormond, I really like this winter haze and if you told me this was for a rework to ormond I'd believe you.

Every map nack in the day was dark and foggy. Over the years with the graphic and performance updates everything looks so modern now. The atmosphere has never been the same
Check this out. These are graphics of the corn map in 2016-17. Look in the distance and it's hard to make it out but it's blurry. It's called "depth of field" it created a blurry horror movie effect that was one of the best aesthetics in dbd until they removed it in 2017. This aesthetic and atmosphere is what got me into this game. Now the atmosphere is well... not so great

It was.

Garden of joy looks very oldschool in terms of the fog

For real this.
Dbd looked the best with that distance blur.
I hope its just not a thing because optimization, and could possible see a come back.

Map enhancements have made them all prettier but also much lighter and brighter. Think it detracts from the horror element of the game - certainly feel this on Ormond and Cornfields. ( yes I am playing with brightness down too)

Yeah man, dbd was horror then, like actuall horror, where stealth was actually meta like this game was built to be like, but maps got brighter fog got less foggeir, and the devs didn't want to optimize so they just got rid of the amazing aesthetics that were causing the issue
