I have escaped facecamping bubba's because of those 5 seconds.
They won't perform miracles but i wouldn't want it to be gone anymore

I honestly don't think basekit-BT will ever be like, balanced or whatever (idk what else to call it xd). Because there are places where 5 seconds does literally nothing, but there are also places where 5 seconds is more than enough.

And it is supposed to be, as the name might suggest, the absolute baseline. It gives you a fighting chance were you otherwise would have absolutely non. If you want to secure unsafe unhooks as your playstyle, then just equip Borrowed Time - The Perk!

The basement is an example in every single map that counters the argument that '5 seconds is enough to get you to any loop.' Same with dead zones that exist in many areas of maps. Just about the only loops you can consistently reach in five seconds is if your hook is in a jungle gym. And a lot of killers you have to break line of sight to avoid.
5 seconds is probably enough without going overboard, but let's not pretend that it's a get out of jail free card. Tunneling hasn't been this healthy in this game for a long time.

what is enough then? 5 seconds is more than plenty. And the basement situation is just a small fraction of scenarios when BT is helpful. Survivors use it for body blocking when you switch targets, so on. So I say 5 seconds is very generous as it is, it needs no change

Did anyone ever say you don't need to run BT anymore? I feel like people inferred that, but really shouldn't have.
See, I look at basekit BT as if it was meant to be supplementary, not a replacement. I still run regular BT, and never really thought about not doing so.
And I am not really sure why more people aren't as well, as the two combined are pretty strong. I mean it doesn't really along with the change the meta movement, but if you ran it before, why not now when the combo is stronger?

It adds a dangerous area of the map that survivors have to be mindful of and the killer can take advantage of if they so choose.

how many times you ended up in the basement? have you ever considered that if this happens quite a lot to survivors, it might be their fault also? It's a situational mechanic so it remains in the game. It's not like killers can carry you to the basement from very far away.

If the killer is going for you, your mate can bodyblock. If he is going for your mate, tank the hit for him.
If your mate is wounded, well you don't really expect to leave together from the basement in that situation. I don't see the problem.

No it's not, it's there to discourage killers from trying to tunnel survivors (more so in the situations where the killer just stands there, waits for the unhook, then slaps the survivor back on the ground). It's not there to give you a free basement escape.

It's incredibly useful. I've gotten several escapes I wouldn't have without it. If it were 30 seconds you people wouldn't be pleased with it.

Killers can very much take you to basement very far away with perks. And while I may haven't ended up in basement as much compared to other people, there's many times where my teammates end up in basement which creates a constant 1 for 1 for the entire match which is unengaging and repetitive.
It doesn't help that basement has a guaranteed chance of spawning and also has an elevated counterpart that has the same effect and is on almost every map; aka hooks on hills.

If they're running iron grasp and agitation then hey! They're not running the five hundred gen perks people constantly moan about. All you have to do is trade judiciously and enjoy your free three man escape.

I think the point is that they stated their hopes to reduce reliance on second chance perks, but they largely failed to do that because in most situations, you're still dead off the hook with little hope of recourse. Sure, you might get hooked in a triple ||| tile and 5s lets you make it to the window, but what does that get you? Eight more seconds before you go down again? Technically it let you reach something, but 'something' doesn't mean good. Consider that you're often going to be hooked in areas where the pallet was already broken, unless the killer carted you away to basement or scourge hooks, because by nature of hooking, you just lost a chase there. Either you have OTR or you're screwed, because almost nobody runs BT anymore when they really should. Killers were fine with counting to 12 before; counting to 5 is the easy mode edition.
I personally rather would have seen them deal with offensive BT/bodyblocking so that they could afford to be more generous with the duration. That or they should have paired the 5s with a better speed boost so that survivors could make distance without having the long bodyblock potential.

I understand what you are saying but so far the most used perks by killers are slowdown perks, even if some might add Agitation or something, it's still quite rare, since in most games keeping survivors off gens is a priority, not guarding a basement or bringing them there from far away. People who end up in the basement usually do their loops around the basement shack, and if they fail (and eventually they do), they don't like to be taken down there
Now we were talking about 5 seconds being enough or not. I say is quite enough and it's a generous time for any situation since over 90% of the unhook situations don't happen in the basement and the borrowed time shield usually is used as a body block against the killer who might chase somebody else.
So because of this 5 seconds is enough unless we don't want to make unhooked though guys running around the killer tanking hits just to defend someone else.

It's actually worse than before tho.
Before I'd run Borrowed Time 100% of the time, which was bad because it was a must have basically, and people I unhook were generally safe. Most... a lot of people ran Borrowed Time as well, so it was a mutually beneficial.
Currently I run Off The Record 100% of the time for myself, but not many other people do, and no one runs Borrowed Time anymore. So with the addition of killers tunneling more since the patch, the unhooked survivors keep getting downed immediately unless I can bodyblock.
I was all for Borrowed Time base kit, but I cannot ignore the fact that match quality has significantly dropped since the patch, with that being one factor.

Honestly the basekit BT should've been tier 1 of old BT, which was what 8 seconds? Obviously tone down current BT so survivors don't have 18 seconds of endurance and haste, but I was expecting more out of the devs finally acknowledging that getting tunneled and camped wasn't fun only to get buffed OTR to help and a very weak basekit BT.

You can also look at it as part of the map design. In most maps you have 2 strong main buildings, one is the shack and one is the main building. Yet one becomes dangerous for the survivors and therefore they need to consider it part of their positioning and how they utilize their resources. Based on that what gens to tackle in what order. It is a part that is often overlooked, but it is a skill in the game. I personally am not that great at it, being a good survivor is more than just looping.
Does it encourage proxy camping and tunneling, sure butt not all forms of these is considered as undesirable. It is part of the games design, that is also why perks are designed around it.
If you end up in the more dangerous zones of the map, might be good to bring a perk for those situations. The 5 seconds is long enough in the safer zones of the map. Consider where you go to loop.

What does the window and palette in Killer Shack add to the game that doesn’t encourage bullying and tormenting the killer via near infinites?
(hint: the answer is nothing and it's an outdated bandaid to the fact that survivors would not set foot into the shack that should be removed)

Basement is too iconic (as far as DBD goes) to be removed. Not saying it shouldn't be, but it won't be.
I also think basement campers are going to be the hardest hit by Reassurance, if it works the way I understand that it does.

The devs mentioned when they told us about the perk changes that people shouldn’t need perks to deal with camping or tunneling. They said survivor players should not need perks just to play the game (longer than a few minutes). They mentioned it again when they revealed the new perks and basekit BT.

The devs were definitely keeping Bubba in mind when they thought about giving survivors a baby basekit BT.
It is almost as if anything given to survivors is not suppose to actually do anything. When it comes to giving basekit changes to killers, as in the extra 10 seconds to gens and faster recovery, it completely breaks the game.
And it is somehow "OK".

Survivors literally got something free, there. Why are you not happy about this? Nothing is stopping survivors for continuing to run borrowed time. Maybe if they removed BT then I'd say it's a valid complaint.
