Iron grasp and agitation make it very easy to make it to the basement hooks from far away. Very common on hag, bubba and trapper builds to camp the basement.

The 5 seconds make sense, it isn't good but it makes sense. A safe unhook is 6 seconds so making a baseline BT any longer than that is just basically a free safe unhook and there should be some risk involved.

There is a misconception that basekit BT was meant to help counter tunneling. It was actually intended to prevent hook farming.

That being said, Basekit BT should be buffed. Endurance duration stays the same, but Haste effect should be increased to 150%.

This counters tunneling since it allows the unhooked survivor to make it a long way from the hook to a safe tile. Also means that the killer is better off targeting the rescuer.

It would be busted in the endgame, in which case it could be made so that you only get 7% haste in the endgame.

5 seconds is still plenty of time to get you near a window or pallet, it sucks if you can’t make it out of basement but as others have mentioned that’s a dangerous place to be hooked.

So should main buildings if basement goes since most of them are completely safe and most killers can't do anything in them.

I will agree that the killer-sided-RNG of basement should be removed, but only at the same time as the survivor-sided-RNG of strong, chainable tiles spawning adjacently is removed. Both reward the player for no other reason than a lucky roll of the dice.

Some RNG is good but it needs to have better constraints.

and replace basement with what? You can't just take it out without something better to stand in its place.

Lol. Imagine wanting basement to go cause it's too unsafe and unfair for survivors while places like Garden of Joy main building, Groaning Storehouse, Dead Dawg Saloon, Grim Pantry, and Father Campbell's Chapel with its god windows all exist where killers basically can't chase to if they want to win the game. Oh and unlike the basement, the main buildings are pretty much accessible from anywhere on the map for the survivor

The fact that killer mains aren't complaining and afaik there aren't any videos crying about how strong, broken, or OP base kit BT is tells you everything you need to know about it. It's a joke and mostly does little.

I prefer the idea of a 10 second basekit BT with the haste boost but also losing collision. That stops the Killer from bodyblocking the survivor and preventing the survivor from reaching a tile and it prevents the survivor from bodyblocking for the unhooker.

I think Scott Jund brought up that idea. It's a really good one in my opinion.

people do complain about it. both killers and survivors complain about everything. In any case BT does exactly what it is meant to do. Protecting you from being downed as soon as you are taken off the hook. That's what it does. It was never meant to be some 30 seconds tank shield for convenience.

the 5 seconds are designed so the unhooker can place themselves between you and the killer, forcing them to either hit you and give you a speedboost, or hit the unhooker and give you distance, not so you can run off into the sunset on horseback, tbagging the killer into the great beyond. if you want that, run bt or otr, thats what those are for
