Slugging for 4k

I don't like it, I won't do it unless I'm provoked.
That said, this is a mechanical issue with the game, not a playstyle issue. Often, the easiest route to a win is slugging, and it's not the killer's fault that BHVR designed the game like this.
Hell, you even have killers like Twins who are forced to play a slug-heavy style.
No, he's not wrong.
Slugging isn't much fun for the killer either.
You do get some bad actors who just want to ruin the game for others (Knockout is one of the most obnoxious things in this game to play against in Solo), but I know that I'll only bleed people out if they really annoy me, and I suspect a lot of killers are the same.
It depends on the tone of the match.
If the other side are highly skilled and coordinated, bringing the best perks, items and offerings they can and using all the tools of the map to win, then I'm going to do the same. No holds barred.
If the other side are playing more chill, then I'll play more chill too.

Yeah I'd rather just go next than do that. But same can be said for survivors, making end game collapse of an already over game last forever.

I don't think anyone would mind if you actually needed to earn it. As it is hatch can spawn literally under your feet (which seems to be happening more often lately?) and you can yeet out the moment the 3rd one dies. As a bonus you get rewarded for not trying to keep the game progressing, which is why it always get used as an excuse to locker jockey and pray your teammate gets killed before you do.
It needs something. Make the hatch spawn closed and one of the chests in the map magically has a key in it. Make it so that you need at least x pip progress in order for the hatch to spawn open, give it anything.
Its what we were apparently waiting all that time for when they took so long to rework keys vs moris, and all we got was a lazy number adjustment. It would even make sense thematically, since the third survivor not giving up is supposed to be more pleasing to the entity than the one who gives up and cowers begging to be saved by powers they do not control.
It needs to be re-evaluated again. and in a proper manner, not just "we couldn't think of anything, so here's a solution to a single part of the issue"

It's just the mentality of most the player base. They want a screen that tells them they're a winner when in actuality...well you know.

I think it would be nice to have the option to instantly bleed out/sacrifice yourself on the hook if you are one of the last two survivors. I think it is sorta dumb that the killer can just prevent the game's built in mercy mechanic. It's also not very fun to just sit there on the ground for 2 minutes, you can always disconnect, I guess, but you shouldn't be punished for trying to help a teammate escape.

I feel killers shouldn’t determine what qualifies as “earning” anything for survivors in this game. Whether you like it or not, hiding/stealth are integral parts of DBD—and if any survivor manages to do it long enough to be the final survivor alive & upright in the trial, then they’ve earned a chance at escape. Whether they hid all match or were super altruistic is inconsequential for two major reasons:
- Survivors only “win” by escaping through gates; escapes through hatch preserve their current MMR.
- Survivors are not a team; they are four individual people with a common goal. They are not graded, ranked, or rewarded as a team; they are judged on their individual merits (see no. 1). They CAN play for themselves and win.

Remember that, next time you stand at the exit gate and waste the killers time.

Either both the killer and the final survivor are both wasting your time, or neither are. Its incredibly hypocritical to be angry at the killer for trying to complete their objective, while simultaneously saying its entirely fine for the final survivor to do everything they can to escape.
Neither of them are actually doing anything wrong.

I only ever do that if the final survivor is literally within my sight or I know where they are. If not, I just hook the survivor and go look for hatch, if the other survivor is on second hook or something then I usually will go look around the gens so they have time to unhook then I go after the unhooker. I try not to slug if possible unless I'm a slug heavy killer like Oni.

Not to object to the whole "just leave" thing, but I'd like to point out that slugging for the 4k and survivors teabagging in the exit gates are two different things as ultimately you can force them out. A slugged survivor cannot bleed out any faster, nor can they hook themselves.

This. I usually only slug for two reasons; teabagging/clicky-clicky and boil over, because I'm on console and it still has its moments where I can't move.

How about this the person who is slugged for the 4k can instantly bleed themselves out (thus allowing them to move onto the next match), and both the last survivor and killer are notified.
Performing this action will statistically and scorewise count as you being hooked (This is important for adept achievements, and pipping, as you are denying the killer the opportunity to get you on the hook before you bleed out. Futhermore the hatch does not spawn until your bleedout timer would have elapsed anyways.

Ah yes, just what this game needs. Another way for a survivor to commit suicide.

nothing wrong with slugging for 4k when you have seen, or have a good idea of where the last guy is. however if he's in a locker on the other side of the map and you slug, you are cringe

Best of both worlds, the slugged person gets to move on, the game continues for the last 2 people as if they never left. Its about as perfect a solution as you could possibly have.
It would also only go into effect in a last man standing situation, or if everyone is slugged for over say 2 minutes which equals the time survivors can waste in the exit gates not leaving with the door open.

Wow. It’s almost as if someone is willingly ignoring the true issue and creating a false dichotomy.

It’s almost like there is no issue with a player finishing out a match to the maximum.

This is 100% wrong and honestly deserves its own thread. Lol. The killer is in control. It is the killer who leaves a survivor on the ground to setup the trap because they want their precious 4k. You know… it means they’re good! They create a situation where you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. If you go for the save you’re walking into the trap and you’ll both be found and die. If you leave them on the ground you’re a bad teammate who wont save his friend and held the game hostage. So you’re stupid if you save and you’re a bad teammate if you don’t. Also, considering that most solo games give me bad teammates, how likely am I to go die for someone who has been awful all game. If ever save in this situation its because the guy on the ground worked hard.
And… what happens when you don’t save and they can’t find you?? They try to get the slugged teammate to turn traitor by letting them go so they lead them to you. I’ve had this situation happen plenty. Killers will slug for a 4k and wait out the teammate hiding even with 2 DCs. It’s nothing but their own need for the validation of a 4k. Sure, some of you don’t do it and some are punishing toxic behavior. But this stuff is bread and butter killer behavior. It happens pretty much every time the game is down to 2 survivors and it’s hopeless to try to do gens.

the argument was that the killer is wasting your time, right? So how is the killer wasting time if the 4th survivor is refusing to do gens, go for a save, or heal, even if it means potentially being killed. The survivor is the passive one and wasting time then
