Wasn’t the mid chapter supposed to get rid of perk dependency?
Title. It’s certainly got rid of perk dependency for survivor, but not for killer, and I’d argue it’s worse because they nerfed some perks for killer like pop and ruin, so I never see these perks anymore and instead it’s pain resonance, dead man’s and save, near enough every game. I’m confused as to why they didn’t account for the indirect save the best for last buff when they buffed the base hit cooldown speed, because now there’s no reason to not run save the best for last unless you’re playing someone like nurse or huntress. I’m just confused as this chapter really hasn’t fixed the perk dependency issue, I think it has for the large part of survivor, but very clearly not for killer.

How did they get rid of survivor perk dependancy? OTR is basically required in solo queue and PT is a must quick due to insane regression + longer gens

It seems like the devs thought players were complaining about specific perks and not specific concepts when we were complaining about the meta. So the meta is exactly the same, but the function is being performed by different perks.

The patch did even out the most extreme perk usages. Dead Hard and BBQ and Chili are the big examples, they used to both be used by 40% or more of survivors and killers respectively, now they're still relatively popular but only see about 15-20% usage so it's half as often. So there are still perks that are more popular than others but the spread is a little more even than it was.

The patch was basically a big farewell to Dead Hard. None of the other changes really mattered. They butchered ruin and pop and i dont even care, next to the corpse of Dead Hard none of them matter.

You got that backwards lmao. I still see DH on atleast 2 survivors per match. Prove is usually on 2 per game as well. OTR on almost everybody.
you still have to remember it’s 1v4.
Survivor perk dependency is much worse than it was.

i was just thinking how much exactly did they change perk dependency on survivor 😂

It was just to shake up the meta not change perk dependency

It was to do both. They said a lot of things in their June 2022 Developer Update, like how second chance perks should be nice to have and not feel like you have to run them.

As far as I am aware, no. That was not their intent.

I know for a fact that perk dependancy is 100% a thing for killer (and even survivor). Killers are running multiple slowdown, so survivors are bringing in generator speed-up (toolboxes, action speed bonus perks, etc) to counteract the slowdown. Overall it just feels awful to not run meta on either side, so they never really did change anything in terms of removing dependency for both sides.
The only thing the midchapter update did was "shake up the meta" which it hardly even did; killers bring slowdown, just as they did before, survivors bring all the generator speed-up and second chance perks they can muster, just like before. It just pushed us to different perks that ultimately have the same purpose.

DH is still good in the hands of a good survivor

As magical as shaking a snowglobe with no snow.

No the point was to get people to use different perks in which it was mostly successful.
