As casual players, this game is less fun for us now

I play both Killer and Surv - casually. What does that mean? With a job and kids I can only play maybe 6 - 8 hours a week.

Am I good at the game? I understand the fundamentals by reading through forums like this one and watching otz but i'm not that great at the game.

Why I enjoy most about DBD? I guess there is nothing like it out there and the main reason is that this is only game my partner and I play together. I started playing the game because of her 3 years ago, but she's play longer then I have. We play the game since we enjoy a few screams and laugh we get.

Why are we not enjoying ourselves anymore? It's hard to put our finger on it, but the games feels more oppressive and less chill. I mean we never play to win, and we don't mind dying on the hook but this time it just feels like we're not allowed to have much fun as we used to.

Why am I writing this? initially I came to forum to find out why things were different, and there is a lot of focus on SWFs and/or the more dedicated fan base of this game (and more skilled). I just want to let you know from a perspective of a casual player - so people don't forget this affects us.

Should I get better? Sure, i'd love to, but honestly we play the game for fun and can't dedicate the time. We're on comms but rather doing callouts, we spend time laughing and screaming (and having fun). Feels like those moments are less now.

What's next? we'll still give this game a shot still, but I think if things go the way it is we will eventually park it and just chill doing something else together. Maye the game has almost been meant to be for the the non-casuals and never meant for us. That does make me sad though.

Again this isn't a frustrating rant - just saying my honest feelings about the game atm. cheers.

SBMM did not make it easy. All the new content doesn't make it easy. That is true.

Me? I'm somewhere in-between casual and competitive I would guess (playing almost every day for 3-4 hrs, almost 4 years and 5000hrs total). And even for me the game got sweatier. But I have the time to adjust and find a new way to deal with the changes, even if they hurt (the last midchapter update completely ruined my 3 year old well working and faithful survivor build). I can'T even imagine how that would be for true casuals who play maybe 2 times a week. I feel sorry for you and I hope that you will have fun again.

It's because game is much less forgiving than before meta shakeup. You can't afford to play sloppy because it may cause a gg.

what specifically is making it not fun for you? you said what you feel but do you have any examples of what exactly has made it harder, I'm confused

One example, we despise when killers camp, and there is just so much of that now. You used to be able to do gens quicker, but because it's slower it does feel like killers get more value out of it.

Also chases feel a lot shorter, and games just end at 3 - 4 gens more often these days. it used to be tighter, like when we lost it would be around 1 - 2 gens.

All I see is that you're tired of the game.

Take a break and come back to it (or not) it's up to you.

there is nothing else to say.

    The game has not changed.

    It's always a casual game.

Some people think they're in a competitive game when it's an asymmetrical game.

I think as hard as it souds to you but the game cant be balanced around people who play the game that little. I would just be unfair for all people who spent way more time.

Yeah, I feel that, used to play between 4-6h a day without fail. I can't stand to play more than 1 or 2h a day now.

The game did change. Not counting boons - killers are being buffed every patch lately (namely patch 6.1.0).

Which makes it impossible to play for low MMR - casual survivors stand 0 chance (meaning noob killer vs noob survivors - killer is guaranteed easy win).

BVHR only cares about the streamers that bought in for the "fog whisperer" status and people that play with their friends 6 hours a night. Everyone else can take it or leave it.

Yeah, I've had precisely 1 Pig post 6.x.x that wanted boops (at any point). Way down from almost every Pig pre 6.x.x eventually getting boops win or lose. For some reason, even despite the state of the game, they're less willing to relax than ever. Even if they've already won the trial.
