Left Behind is objectively worse than Clairvoyance unless you happen to never cleanse a totem
Left Behind definitely needs a buff, it is significantly objectively worse than Clairvoyance in every way aside from Clairvoyance needing you to cleanse a single totem once during the match. Specifically, comparing the perks, here’s the descriptions
Clairvoyance - Whenever you cleanse a Totem, Clairvoyance activates: When empty-handed, press and hold the Ability button to unlock your full Aura-reading potential, allowing you to see the Auras of the Exit Gate Switches, Generators, Hooks, Chests, and the Hatch within 64 metres for 8/9/10 seconds.
So for the price of a totem and temporarily dropping your item, Clairvoyance lets you see auras of all the main props at will for up to a total of 10 seconds usage, including Hatch, up to 64 meters away (which is basically almost the whole map if you’re in the middle of it.)
Meanwhile Left Behind only shows you the Hatch, nothing else, and only up to half the range.
At the very least Left Behind’s range should be increased to at least 64 meters, and even then it would still obviously be way worse than Clairvoyance. It’s obviously ok for it to have a weaker effect in the sense that Clairvoyance does cost a totem and has a hypothetically limited duration (even though in practice 10 seconds is quite decent when you only have to use it a second at a time to glimpse the aura you want.) But Left Behind’s effect is SO much weaker as to be kind of ridiculous. Its range being the same 64 meters is probably the bare minimum of what improvement the perk should get to be on par overall with Clairvoyance.

It has permanent aura reading ability, no countdown, but a lower range and no setup is needed. I think it is kinda balanced as it is.

Given that Left Behind ONLY shows the hatch, which requires you to be the last survivor standing, I think it could be made stronger than it is.
One thing I'd like to see is to have Left Behind be the equivalent of Self-Care and Saboteur, in that it lets you open the hatch again without a key, the way SC and Saboteur let you heal yourself and sabotage without a medkit and a toolbox, respectively. Arguably, Clairvoyance is that for maps, so the pattern continues!

It’s definitely not balanced, the lack of the requirement for a totem cleanse doesn’t totally offset that it’s only showing the Hatch and only in 32 meters. Clairvoyance shows literally every basic prop in 4x the area, works during the entire match, and its 10 second timer translates to multiple uses since you clearly don’t need to use it for 10 seconds straight to glimpse the aura you’re looking for,

When I was going for hatch challenge or use a key to unlock a hatch challenge, I didn't use left behind. I used clairvoyance and open handed. I think left behind should just always show hatch, because currently you just always want clairvoyance over it. That being said I think talents that encourage you to look for hatch are causing you to go down a road of griefing. I don't think talents like Left Behind or Sole survivor should exist. Mainly because they encourage you to let your team die to get value out of them. I also think perks like knock out and deer stalker are in the same boat, they are encouraging you to grief. Leaving people slugged is fun for almost no one.

To be clear, I’m not advocating for Left Behind not to show hatch, the devs apparently like having perks which only work if you’re the last survivor and clearly if you’re the last survivor then seeing the hatch is useful.
But that said I do agree that one flaw DbD has in general is that it doesn’t clearly treat the survivors as an actual team but instead as individuals who happens to be in the same game. Semi-cooperative design rarely works well unfortunately and DbD isn’t an exception. It’s why the official boardgame specifically went with having the survivors clearly win or lose as a group.

I would much prefer a system where everyone wins or loses, as it would keep bad survivors from being able to get to higher MMR.
