Would it be more healthy for the game if base self unhooking was removed

With the large amount of people who kill themself on hook extremely early I'm beginning to wonder how much value the ability to self unhook really has.

I feel the game would be a lot more healthy if the base self unhook was just removed. So that people can't just leave the match untill atleast their second hook stage

Deliverance can unlock the ability to unhook yourself 100% and slippery meat can be reworked.

Sure we will miss the youtube content of epic self unhook escapes but on a whole it would be so much better for the game if it just got deleted. Too many people use it to avoid a DC penalty instead of the 1/10 escape chance it's suppose to be

The reason hook suicide mechanic exists is because when BHVR tried not having it, immature brats would actively stay to sandbag instead. Eg, dropping every pallet, drawing killer over, blowing gens up on purpose, trapping teammates in a corner, etc. BHVR viewed letting those trashy morons essentially ragequit to be the better option, given those types are too much of a coward to just DC since that one has an actual penalty.

It’s unfortunate. If there was a perfect never false positive/negative way to detect and punish sandbagging mid match, then hook suicide could be removed entirely, since sandbaggers could just get banned mid-game instead. But that’s inherently impossible to accurately detect.

I have had quite a few times were someone was trying to kill themself on hook and i resqued them before there were able to. They just played.

Most people ragequit as a knee jerk reaction. And hook suicides make it very convenient to do so without penalty.

Now it's true that it won't prevent all quiters but how convenient it is you can't deny it isn't encouraging leaving.

Dcing too much will suddenly end in no longer being able to enter a lobby, being afk means you aren't playing the game you wanted to play. The mayority of people would get over their kneejerk reaction and just play if it wasn't so convenient to leave.

Heck even if it only reduced suicides by 10% it would already be worth it. That's how little base self unhooking brings to the table

If they completely removed it? No.

If they made it conditional so at least one other survivor is on the ground or hooked? Yes.

And I had a handfull of situations where I unhooked them before they were able to kill themselfes and they just run straight into the killer's arms.
