Question to Survivors who DC

I don't think Killers actually get all that sad when a Survivor DC.
Is it pathetic? Definitely.
Does it ruin my day? Not even close, I revel in it from time to time

I don't believe survivors are tilted over DCing. As someone else commented earlier, they do it & move on. DBD is just a video game.

If you say so. That was the main purpose of this thread. Wanting to understand why people do it, as someone who is incapable of understanding it as I've never done it once. I guess having y'all spell out the obvious helped me at least. "If I'm not having fun why would I keep playing?" makes a lot of sense and idk why I just assumed it was something else.

That's totally fair tbh. My main issue with it comes from when I'm survivor and the DC screws over the match. If the match is already screwed/has teammates acting in bad faith then yeah, you shouldn't bother if you don't care to at that point.

I guess it comes down to the survivors aren’t having fun, have the option to leave a game they perceive as unfun, and exercise that ability. Like in any game.

Supposedly bots to replace players who DC is coming. If those bots are half decent I'll likely just not care anymore. Especially if as killer a sacrifice on a bot counts as the same or nearly the same as a player sacrifice. Maybe it would be the player sacrifice score minus the DC points so you can only earn the full points if the bot doesn't escape.
P.S. it would actually be really nice if there was an option to enable "join game in progress" when you queue up like how lots of PvE games work. The bot replaces the person that DCs, and then another person could replace the bot later. Honestly dunno why this isn't already in the game because it would be an easy solution I think.

Last night a David DC'ed on me in the exit gate during EGC when he realized he was bloodwardened in. He was the last survivor and there were three flans in play. I actually burst out laughing. 😃
That's a lot of lost points for the sake of preserving a fragile ego.

Not even close to the same thing.
One is killing and doing your objective.
The other is literally quitting.

Hopefully. I've heard there is an AI for killer coming as well. That's probably for the best. Just let people of whatever role/side play with bots. It'll reduce a lot of problems.

It’s not about showing the killer anything. For me personally, this is a game. If im not having fun in said game, ill move on to the next game.
now “having fun” doesn’t mean I need to be winning and stomping on the killer.
for example, if I get into a long chase with killer, over 2-3 minutes, I get downed eventually and hooked and no gens get done, and I look around and see survivors doing god knows what, I’d rather just move on. I don’t wanna play that game.
another example, if I (or someone else) gets hooked, at 5-4 gens, killer is camping or proxy camping and preventing saves, I’d rather just move on to the next game.
a third example, if I (or someone else) keeps getting tunelled early (at 5-4-3) gens, I’d rather move on as well. Especially if it’s an oppressive killer.
before you jump at me and scream that those are strategies, fine, they are, but this is a game and if you’re not having fun, by all means, move on to find a better game.

The killer AI would be nice for practice in custom game but tbh for the main game if the killer DCs mid match the game should just end like how it does now.

Really fair enough. My only rebuttal is that your teammates might be having fun, and I personally feel a responsibility to make sure I'm not making the match any less fun even if I'm personally not having a great time. Maybe because it's just a game putting that expectation onto others isn't really fair.
Not gonna stop me from calling people who DC on first down out tho. That kills the game and often times we only lose because that person did that. Not the end of the world but I would like to play a full proper match please.
