Off the top of my head playing this game for years this is what i remember:

- Old Brutal Strength

* Used to be at 30-40% or something like that. Original Brutal Strength was incredibly strong.

- Old Pop

*Forgot the numbers but this perk received at least one nerf!

-Recently nerfed Corrupt

* This perk is weaker than what it used to be

- Old Haddonfield

*A nightmare for killers, the current Haddonfield is significantly more balanced

-Old Balanced Landing

At certain locations on certain maps it was extremely broken as there was no exhaustion or landing recovery frames even after exhaustion.

At some locations there was either a infinite or semi infinite vauting the window and BL locations. The mahority of the time the killer would ignore the BL survivor if they went to a certain location/loop thus making the killer abandon the encounter all together!

- Mac Millan estate

** One of the main buildings/areas on one of the MacMillan estates was extremely broken for survivor and had to get reworked.

-Old Left Behind

** You repaired gens at 75% if you were the last one in the trial.

-Old Hatch

** Dark times bc this was pre nerfed end game as well and the hatch could spawn with 4 survivors ...lol

If both killer and survivor got to the hatch there would be a hatch standoff! This was well way before the hatch rework!

-Old DS

** Lol this was probably the worst times for killer ever! Old DS could be activated any time (once still) and the killer had to juggle the survivor to the hook lol

What do you remember about how DBD has changed over the years, i'd like to know!

Rat Tail received 1 nerf and 1 buff.

It used to increase the Portal opening speed by 50% (from 1 second to 0.5 seconds), but it then got nerfed to 25%, and then buffed to 35%.

The most unnecessary nerf Demogorgon has ever received.

Old Black Heart and Barb's Glasses were 20% instead of the current 15%.

Old old Black Heart used to decrease your Shred missed cooldown by x% (forgot the number) like Mew's Guts.

auras showing in lockers, snapping out of madness showing up on nurses calling, that godawful window on ironworks of misery (although garden of joy has several of those lmao)

    - Old Sabo

Old Saboteur was extremely broken! You could 99% hooks with or without a toolbox and this was before Toolboxes and Medkits received a rework lol

    - Pig buff

    * She need old Crate of Gears and Jigsaw Sketch to be competitive as Old Jigsaw Sketch added one additional box to the trial making it 5 instead of 4 boxes, now 5 boxes are basekit and Pig is way better than she was after her initial nerf

NOED was a 2 minute timer perk that had no totem.

    Tinkerer buffed addons.

DS was always active and could be used the first time you got downed.

    Damaging gens wasn't a thing.

Closing hatch wasn't possible as there was no EGC.

    Moris worked on first down.

Hooks wouldn't respawn after being sabotaged.

Sprint burst recharged as fast while running, so you could use it mid chase.

Old BT, which Wraith and Freddy could bypass.

Lmao i forgot about that! I remember when they added the blindness status effect to survivors that are in the lockers, lol. I also remember old snap out of it didn't store so if you caused a inaction you had to re snap out of it all over again! Damn DBD was super broken!

    So broken lmao!

Oh man old Brand New Part....smh

How long it used to take Trapper and Hag to set their traps. It was like Hag was taking her time drawing a masterpiece work of art on the ground.

    Old Thrill of The Hunt:

Stacked with other totems and you gained a notification when a survivor was working on any totem. (Way pre boons)

They need to bring this back no idea why they nerfed it. Thrill is useless now.

As for the thread at hand, old undying used to give hex perks 5 health states and showed the aura of any survivor near a hex totem not just dulls. It was so busted with ruin and devour hope, but it did force survivors off gens just to do bones. So chaotic! A part of me wants them to bring back the aura reading on hex totems.

Probably one of, if not the most infamous things for both sides...

    For Killers:

Old Legion. A mess of a killer with genuinely no counterplay. If he wanted to down you, you were going down. But first we need to know why. Deep wounds use to work a lot differently back then, instead of the bar being paused while you were running it would only pause if you were in a chase. Even if you were Mending the bar would still go all the way down to 1% until you either finished the Mend or let go, which would make you go down. Because of this, a strategy was quickly discovered and it was called 'Moonwalking Legion'. Because Deep Wounds only went down in chase you could simply apply Deep Wounds to a Survivor, exit Frenzy and then turn around and walk backwards to avoid initiating chase so the Deep Wounds bar would continue to go down. Once the bar was close enough you could turn back around, activate Frenzy and stab the Survivor again to down them. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. If a Survivor already suffering from Deep Wounds was stabbed in Feral Frenzy, their bar would go down by 10 seconds. Another thing is Feral Frenzy didn't need to be fully charged to activate, it simply needed to be at least 10%. So the moment a Survivor vaulted a window or pallet you could just activate Frenzy, vault towards them and stab them again. Now a Survivor could Dead Hard or use any other means to avoid a hit, but there was another problem. Missing an attack in Feral Frenzy didn't cancel it. The game pretty much forced you to either use the Moonwalking or the multi stab playstyle as well, because Legion was a 4.4m/s (110%) movement speed killer. There is not a killer in the history of DbD that made Survivors DC more than Legion. And if any of you are curious as to how that looked, heres a great video by PainReliever showcasing it: https://youtu.be/peFfFHqBk-c

    For Survivors:

Old Mettle of Man. A mess of a perk with basically no counterplay, it gained stacks from Basic Attacks instead of Protection Hits. Unless you were Nurse (because she was bugged) or you had a Special Attack there was no way of avoiding this perk. And there weren't many killers who had Special Attacks, most recent chapter at the time was Demise of the Faithful, meaning the only killers that could avoid it were: Trapper, Billy, Huntress, Bubba and Plague. Now you might realize that there are 2 killers that should be on this list, and thats Pig and Legion. Their Special Attacks nowadays actually counted as Basic Attacks back in the day, meaning perks like Sloppy Butcher and Dark Devotion would work. (NoeD how ever wouldn't work with a Feral Frenzy hit). This meant that after taking 3 normal Basic Attacks, you just tanked the next hit at absolutely no cost. At this point in the game as well, insta heals were still a thing. Styptic Agents would instantly heal 1 health state upon use, and Syringes would instantly heal 2 health states. Meaning you could activate MoM on your first down.

I'm just thankful both of these didn't last very long

Old Hangman's Trick: Made Sabotaging Hook take longer... now it does Aura Reading 8-6M around the Hook when a Survivor is on your shoulders (wait... that sounds familiar)

Well it got nerfed because boons got introduced and boons with old Thrill was too conflicting! I admit i still tried to find "some" value in Thrill of The Hunt but its failed me more than anything.

Sometimes i would have all Hex builds only for survivors to destroy or bless all the totems except Thrill which of course sucked!

Old insta-heals: They were really fun to use, but were completely unfair for the killer, so it's kind of a good thing they got nerfed.

Old Freddy: He was considered very weak back then and only played by skilled players, but he was really fun to play and play against. Seeing a survivor getting carried outside of the Dreamworld was also cool since it looked like they were floating.

Old Sabotaging: It was time consuming, but it was really fun to do. Although going around and 99'ing all of the hooks was kind of unfair for the killer, so maybe it's a good thing that was changed too.

Old Toolboxes: Not gonna lie, these were straight up OP. Gens took only 70 seconds back then (I think?) and Mechanic's Toolbox or Commodius Toolbox with Socket Swivels and Wire Spool basically lasted the whole game.

Also, not really a change but something I wanted to mention: the unhook bug where when a survivor unhooked you, you would still have the hooked animation and was basically floating across the map. It was the funniest thing ever when that happened, but it also got you caught easy. I kind of miss it.😆

Pre nerfed Iron Will was really busted especially against Spirit who relies on sound to get fast downs.

Yeah, Spirit truly was a struggling killer during 100% IW times, for sure...

Regarding Brutal Strength. It used to give 40 % on pallet break, it was meta because base kit brealing was REAAALLY slow.

They made 20 % of it basekit between Doctor and Huntress release and nerfed the Perk to 20 %.

Mori cancels! They've been taken out and thankfully because that was super toxic!
