Hyperfocus has problems.
TL;DR It's too strong and further widens the gap between new and experienced players in a bad way.
Survivors can solo gens with this perk in roughly 60s, with very little downside. Especially if the risk of missing skill checks is mitigated with Stake Out. Other gen speed perks have clear downsides or risks - Resilience and This Is Not Happening require you to stay injured, and Prove Thyself is easily countered with Discordance and allows the killer to pressure two survivors at once if they go to the correct gen. Hyperfocus's only downside is a complete non-issue for skilled survivors, or even players running Stake Out - it might as well just be "increase gen repair speed."
If survivors can't hit great skill checks consistently, though, the perk does very little, thus increasing the difference between new and experienced players in a way that feels... almost unfair. Survivors that get good value out of Hyperfocus are likely to be able to outplay more killers than survivors who don't, which means that newer killers that are already struggling in their games are only going to struggle more - and I hopefully don't need to explain why that's bad for game growth.
Unlike Circle of Healing, I think this issue is mostly solvable with some numbers tweaks. Perhaps reducing the maximum number of tokens, or lowering the 30% bonus down to 10% would be a good start. Make it a small bonus to keep repairing gens interesting and rewarding for experienced players without dramatically speeding up the pace of the game.
(Also, "just play Doctor" is a counter, but not a very elegant or player-friendly one.)

Even experinced players wont be able to hit great skill checks constaly. i think its fine

With good pc you can hit them pretty easily of you have good reflexes. My friend who played on pc never missed ds. But if you play on average pc or console that's not possible.

Its immpossible to hit every great skillcheck on gen no matter how good are you. Thats the issue with the perk. Its just poorly desgined in general.

no player — no matter how many hours they have in the game — is going to hit great skill checks every single time. even with Stakeout, Hyperfocus is going to get reset. i do think there's a few problems with it but i don't think it's necessarily widening the gap between skilled and unskilled players by all that much. 10% would make the perk not worth running at all, but i think there's definitely a way they could fine tune it so it's not so crazy with certain items/builds.

You don't need to that's the thing run stakeout and if you can hit greats semi consistently you will crush a gen.

Stakeout will continue to gain stacks if you are repairing within the terror radius. I had a few games last night where I essentially pounded out gens with hyperfocus and never ran out of Stakeout stacks.
Granted that only works if the killer is chasing someone nearby, but when it happens, it is dirty. Multifloor maps offer more opportunities for this. Add a toolbox, built to last, and maybe overzealous/resilience, and yikes.

In one game, I solod 3 gens in about 50 seconds or less using Built to last, hyper focus, stake out, and this isn't happening. The killer was downing someone just about every 30 seconds to a minute, but me smashing gens, he had no chance. I think stake out working with it, is too strong.

Devs stated gen speeds are too fast, then they added a gen speed perk. Do they have different teams working in perks or something? It doesn't make any sense. Gen speeds are flying. Now it's worse.

That Yea that's pretty dumb

And when word of this gets out, killers will start running even more slowdown, and who can blame them? Not well thought out, especially given the current meta.

Thanks for all the input, y'all. I threw the original post together after losing 5 gens in about 6 minutes going for a ritual on a killer I don't play, and 3/4 survivors had Hyperfocus, so my thoughts weren't well refined.
Hitting every great is unrealistic, I agree now that I've thought about it for half a second. But Stake Out mitigates that, and is very easy to pull off. I think removing the Stake Out synergy, and perhaps addressing toolbox skill check speed would fix the perk almost completely. Any other issues could be easily ironed out with number tweaks.
Here's hoping this thread gets seen!

When Ruin used to be : hit great checks or lose progress my personal best was 70 checks in a row. There were people who hit them that often among old red rank players.
The simple solution is to make hyperfocus not chain with stake out. You hit a great manually or you get nothing.
Combine that with make Hyperfocus cancel out a toolbox's natural bonus for "more checks".
That won't make the perk "ok" but it will make it less broken.
