Reassurance only works ONCE per hook?
I was under the impression that you could use Reassurance once per hook state with no strings attached. But apparently, if the survivor goes into 2nd stage whilst it is still their first hook, you can't activate it if you already did for their first stage of the hook.
This is counter-intuitive to the perks use - which is to stall for time and not trade/give the killer any value from facecamping. So as a solo player you will never get 1 minute value from this perk against e.g., a facecamping Bubba, you'll get only 30 seconds, unless you unhook and trade/throw the game.
I thought it was a bug in the game I just played but apparently that's just how Reassurance works now. So its nerf was even worse than I thought, if it really is the case. Can anyone else confirm this?

What? You actually expected BHVR to give survivors a tool to punish camping?

That was the confusion with the phrase hook instance. Apparently it means each time the person is hooked not hook state

It should definitely be hook state, but I suspect they had a hard time coding it.

If you run up to a hook, add 30 seconds, and run off and the killer doesn't bother to chase you even knowing that someone activated Reassurance, and they just stand there and wait out those 30 seconds then I doubt being able to roll another instance of reassurance in phase 2 is going to get them to leave.
Even more so if more than one person is running it and you add 60 or 90 seconds to a hook state.

You’re telling me you didn’t unhook someone in 90s and that’s still not enough?

I've had one instance this morning where there were 3 healthy people, one with Reassurance, it was a Freddy without Noed, and they still were too scared to take hooks for me and I died, it just depends on the courage of the survivors I guess.

I mean. Yes? Facecamping huntress be like that.

Bubba. Good luck making a trade. Best you can do is stall time.

I was kind of afraid of this when they weren't really specific about what hook instance meant.
I'd just report it under feedback. It really should work once per hook state. If you let someone go to a new hook state, the only time that really applies is facecamping situations where it's impossible to save and it should be reusable in those cases. This can have the negative consequence where facecamping for 30 seconds can be more profitable than leaving the hook because you prevent the unhook and prevent Reassurance, which you now know is there, from being reactivated.
There really shouldn't be any situations where facecamping is a good strategy. If you failed to unhook within the extra time, the penalty is that your teammate loses a hook state. Losing your ability to reuse the perk doesn't make sense.
And being able to reuse it on a new hook state wouldn't result in any kind of trolling/keeping hostage situation. If you're really using it that way, it's an extra 30 seconds. Their stated reason for changing it was trolling/hostage keeping.

If the players are smart and experienced, they'll work on gens. Any extra time in the situation is valuable and justly punishes lazy killers.

Oh there's some others it can be really difficult to trade with- Trickster, Huntress, Myers, Doctor, Plague- but Bubba is the only one that makes it impossible.

They just don't care about survivor players. Killer players are keep getting good buffs while they are nerfing survivor perks.

Reading some of these comments makes me realise how a lot of people in this forum just don't play solo Q. Yes, sometimes people will go into struggle even using Reassurance, because it's only 30 seconds, randoms are extremely incompetent, and most of the time selfish. It should definitely be usable once per hook stage at least. Regardless of being rehooked or not

I mean, trust me, I have a degree in the study of incompetence. I've been a solo Q player since 2016. This game has guaranteed I'm going to get some sort of tumor or cancer in the future, because I like playing efficiently (for the most part), and my blood boils like it's lava.
Sure, I know incompetence. And I know nothing will fix incompetence. 99% of survivors are incompetent. But yes you can balance the game around incompetence. Not completely, but you can try to mitigate it in part, so people like me can at least strive to live past 40.

Sounds pretty clear though.

Could be interpreted two ways, hence the confusion.

I mean... i guess you missed the entire last part of the perk. "Can only be used one per survivor per HOOK INSTANCE" no where does it say hook state. Either way despite what people say 30 seconds is still a long time and good enough for it not be busted if only 1 person brings it.

In games like this, language is comprised of certain phrases that carry certain definitions. 'Hook state' for example, is unambiguous. But 'Hook instance' was never used before, so it was unclear if this was a new term (Which it is) or whether BHVR meant to say 'Hook state' instead.
Part of that was wishful thinking, too, since if it was 'once per hook state', the perk would still have some anti-camping value, but that specific aspect got gutted to protect campers.
