Dead Hard needs a change

Let me get this out of the way, I don't Dead Hard is still overpowered. Its current state is leagues better than how it was before.

That being said, Dead Hard currently suffers from a problem. Hackers. Dead Hard is currently a script kiddie's wet dream of a perk. Its effect is strong enough that it can win enitre games while negating the risk of using it is rather easy to do with hacks.

My solution is rather simple. Increase the duration of the actual dead hard to 1.5 second, but add a 0.5 second delay before after hitting the button before you actually get the effect. The idea is to make the perk harder to automate but making slightly more powerful to make up for the added difficulty.

The exact numbers might need tweaking, but I think such a change would make the perk less easy to cheat with.

Bro... If dead hard hacking is the least of your concerns you haven't seen the totem esp and perma aura reading killers/survivors and 1.1% speed boosts, 1.2% repair boosts that USED to be able to catch hackers when it was old tinkerer

I don't think the solution to fixing a problem with cheaters is to change the perk.

If running into auto dead harders is a problem for you, you can bait out the dead hard by missing your swing. The script as far as I can tell only checks if the Killer is close enough to hit you and if they swing. Swing at nothing they dead hard and get no where.

But then you are giving up free distance. I don't like the idea of changing perks just to prevent one group of players from abusing it, but I don't really see any other option.

Dead Hard doesn't give any distance and they are locked out of interactions. I can tell you from experience that the killer missing the swing when you dead hard gets you killed.

Maybe not from the hacker standpoint, but I would like it too if DH was a little more telegraphed. The devs said (if I remember right) they wanted the animation to play so you could see it ahead of the endurance being active, but that doesn't really happen on live. I don't think the duration of the endurance needs to be changed.

No, you shouldn't change something because of hackers. Unless it's the Anti-cheat xd

Dead hard 100% gives you distance. It's 4.0 M/S * dead hard duration. Bumping it up to 1.5 sec duration means if a survivor is within 6 meters of a window/pallet they'll make it. It's a "parry" mechanic that does not root you in place but you keep moving at the default rate of speed.

We shouldn’t be changing a perk like this simply to address hackers.

The game needs better anti-cheat and a better report system.
