Cheaters

Hello, I came to the official forum because I would like to know if the developers plan to do something about the cheaters in the game.

A few months ago I started playing DBD again after about a year break and I liked the changes, the new DLC and it all felt good. But from the end of June 2022, the situation is only getting worse and worse.

From this date on, I started encountering cheaters a little more regularly in the game. Every day at least 1, sometimes just an "invisible" one that wanted to help a little with faster healing or running, sometimes one that flew or made 5 generators in 5 seconds.

But after the last release of DLC (Project W), the situation worsened again. Every day I encounter multiple cheaters in games, either as a survivor or as a killer. And very often it is precisely those who want to help themselves in some subtle way and expect that the killer will not see it.

In the last few days, I have had such nice experiences as healing in 5 seconds (self-care without perks or without any rational boost), using sprint burst 2x in 20 seconds or that, for example, someone had a Boil over even though at the end of the game they didn't have that perk shown in the list.

I'm used to frustrating situations and I won't get annoyed by a camping killer or a bunch of SWF friends with flashlights. I am used to it. But the situation with cheaters is seriously getting out of hand. It's seriously boring to play with or even against it, and those situations are becoming more and more frequent.

To tell the truth, sometimes I just send them an in-game report, but I don't go to support at all. Why?

1) They can create a new account within minutes and continue what they are doing.

2) Reporting cheaters is such a tedious thing that I seriously don't want to kill time for the whole day. One has to report the player in the game, take a record of what they did, cut out unnecessary parts, write a ticket, upload the video to YouTube and send it to support. Do I really have to do this with every cheater I come across? I'm punishing myself rather than him.

The game really starts to annoy me in this part and I'm a person who likes DBD and its latest changes.

  • 1) How do they stop people from creating a new account?

    2) No game will ban just off in game reports, it is too easily abusable. People will report just about anything as cheating if made them unhappy. The only way the could really get rid of the video proof part would be to have some kind of in game recording. Which probably wouldn't be to easy to add as I don't think this game was ever coded with that in mind.

Yes the cheating problem sucks, but there isn't some magical solution to just stop all the cheaters. If there was every game studio would be using it. This is far from just a DBD issue. Much bigger games deal with it just as much if not more... Halo, COD, Apex Legends ect.

The devs do ban cheaters. And they are always working on patching holes to stop cheat software. The problem is that cheaters find new ways around those fixes. It's a constant battle. The devs don't talk about what they do to stop cheaters, but I check some of the cheat subscription services occasionally and there have been times when they had to pause subscriptions while they found a way around BHVR's fix. Unfortunately for us, cheats are actually big business, so the people making the software that players use to ruin your matches are financially motivated to keep that stuff updated and working.

No one's happy about running into cheaters. It's a problem with all online games. I wish cheaters couldn't so easily get around being banned, but I don't blame BHVR for that.
