Can we remove the broken key?
It still baffles me that this item is still ingame. You think, its your last chance on a chest and then BAM you get a key, thank god.
... its a broken key.
Honestly, hatch was so hard nerfed and Keys are so useless, apart maybe for the addon were you see obsession.

It serves a very different function than the purple. Purple basically just opens the hatch. Green lets you use the addons with no hatch. Iri is both combined.

What if the Broken key let you open hatches, but 75% slower than normal, and was consumed afterward?
Or it always came with a relevant addon attached to it, regardless of (or in addiotion to) Plunderer's Instinct and/or Ace in the Hole?

In its current form, it's not worth picking up. The killer will see the item you're holding as a legitimate key and will priortize tunneling you out of the game.

Why don't we swap its aura reading time with the Skeleton Key?
And, if you find it in a chest, make it spawn with an addon.
So if it's only gonna be able to read auras and require an addon to do it, it better damn well be the best at it.

They should just make it so green keys by default come with addons.

Considering it's only a vehicle for addons, it shouldn't be in the chest drop table. And I'd have no issues ditching it entirely, considering it's still a terrible vehicle for key addons compared to the red key. And keys are just terrible in general nowadays.

If it would spawn with addons, it would be helpfull. But it doesnt.
But i need to say, i dont get why we have grey items and the "green key" isn't even green, its grey.

I guess i may as well ask now since I did take a break for a long time. What was the hatch nerf and key nerf again? I never really noticed a change since i dont use them much

Broken key imo should still open the hatch but a lil slower and maybe give the killer a sound notification

Well they nerfed hatch so it only spawns at the last survivor alive. Also they added 5 seconds to open the hatch.
Before you could actually make a 4 man escape with hatch.
Well.. didnt they say that Mori's will be nerfed in return? Cause they were the "hatch" on the killer side?
Instead nothing happened and now they want to make a free mori at the last survivor.

Oh my god, that's the change? I've been spending the past while thinking I'm just blind as hell when I try to find hatch earlier to make note of and then it'd spawn in some really obvious spot. I thought I was just that out of shape for this game ;-;

Green keys should open the hatch at 50% of the speed of purple key.

I miss the old hatch mechanic so much just for the entertainment I got when someone found a green key in a chest. So many times there were players that had been playing long enough to know better but after I died I would be spectating and watching them try to open the hatch with a green key. Or the times you'd see someone with a key so you'd lead them to the hatch and they'd need to drop it to show you it was just a green key with add ons - couldn't help but laugh because so hopeful and then so disappointed. 😂

Once the hatch has spawned, there should be a 50% chance when opening a chest to get a key from it. Outside of that, keys should be reworked into beads and bangles, with the former allowing you to see the killer's aura, and the latter allowing you to see the aura of other survivors.

Yes, remove it please, the broken key is the only one item that is totally useless without addons
And even considering addons, 5 out of 8 addons are useless on it, unless you use another different addon
They could at least rework keys and say that every key has some aura reading effect by default

Keys are still good because of all the aura addons and the broken one has more charge than the purple. Yes it sucks when you get it from chest but it otherwise is a decent item.

It should be removed from Chests, this is for sure.
Other than that, the green Key is actually better than the purple Key. There is 0 point in bringing a Key to open the Hatch, it will not happen. So being 10 seconds over 5 seconds of use is the advantage of the green Key.
That being said, Key need a complete Rework. There should only be one Key (SKeleton Key) and the Add Ons should be reworked/buffed. Personally, I always thought that it would have been nice to have Keys for everything player-related when it comes to Auras and Maps for everything environment-related.

Honestly, keys just need a rework to actually be decent. I can name ONE match where a key would've helped me as a survivor. I don't want old keys back they were so awful but like
Maybe they all have player and/or killer aura reading as a feature and the addons can modify how long, what distance, or other bonuses like a WoO effect or being able to bypass Undetectable for a heavy increase to how fast you burn it. Keep the hatch opening thing as a cute bonus you might use once every 25 games.

If only one survivor can escape trough hatch, then only the last survivor should be killable. Also when its the only one left. Otherwise its not an the same.

I don't understand why the green key was ever in item boxes - maybe to give you an unfair bait when the hatch could spawn earlier.
Now the hatch has been nerfed so much, which imo should also be addressed like they said they were going to and never did, it should be removed from chests completely. It offers no value when found I'm match and it seems to have replaced other keys entirely for some reason.

If that is the case then once the gates are open, since all survivors can escape, all survivors should be able to be moried regardless of number of times they have been hooked right?

An item that:
- By itself does nothing
- You need to use it with 3 specific addons out of the 8 available to get some use of it

They should give the Broken Key the Blood Amber function by default, and if equipping Blood Amber to it, the duration is 10 seconds longer. It needs something base if it’s not going to be removed from chests.

No doubt keys as a whole could use an adjustment, though I really like this idea in the short term.
Pulling broken keys from the loottable is one of those simple, elegant, easy ideas they could go fix right this second and get out in the very next patch if they really wanted to. Unlikely, but we can always dream.
For an quick/easy bare minimum change to keys overall, I think they could hide keys from the killer in the game (or lobby at least). Call it the pockets patch.
Needing to use a key (for hatch) is damn rare in the first place, but having one when you need it is like finding a unicorn. When you actually bring one you're liable to get tunneled out based on pure instinct from years and years of hatch-outs giving everyone PTSD the second the see one still.

You dont use the logic at all.
It was said, Hatch is the same as Mori on the killer side.
Since Hatch got nerfed to only for one survivor, killers should only be able to Mori the last survivor aswell.

But not automatically as Initially and, to be Frank, abysmally suggested by BHVR. How they thought a good way to balance the scales was to give killers who most of the time in this situation would already have a 3k anyway, even more pressure in an often insurmountable situation boggles the mind. The sole survivor needs a fairer chance, given how quickly the killers are getting to the hatch and how infrequent keys are in trial, not less.

It would make more sense to mori the first survivor on the second hook, than the last survivor. Thats true.
I still think survivors should get speed on gens and healing if other survivors are dead. And if the last survivor is alive, he should get up alone.
This way balancing killers at the start would be easier.

I think we should combine maps and keys into one item based around aura reading and the hatch. Maybe even remove the killer aura addon from the keys to make balancing the duration less difficult. And maybe let it read the hatch, but at a shorter range?
It would also be easier to make interesting addons if you combine them, right now most map or key addons just do "make the item numbers higher", or "give the green map the same functionality as the iri map".
The ultimate "information and survival" item, for hunting hatch and for gathering info during the game. It would also mean there would be fewer useless addons clogging up the bloodweb if these items were reworked to be useful.

I love the green key. I pair it with the ring add-on that let’s me always see the obsession’s aura in the entire map. Seeing only one teammate can surprisingly give you a lot of helpful info. The better/more active the obsession player, the more info I receive and the more efficient I can play. Obsession going for the save? Good- I can stay on this gen. Obsession in chase approaching my tile? Time to move. Obsession on death hook and in chase? Time to go over there and take a hit and a down, to get the killer off of him/her. And other various scenarios. It serves kind of like a 5th perk.

I think it's more removing the green key from being found mid trial, where its pointless as you want have an add on for it, not remove it from the game.

Ok so let me clarify, hatch is a path for escape. You are suggesting that because hatch only spawns for the last survivor, the killer should only be able to mori the last survivor.
I am also assuming this mori can happen regardless of number of hook states since there is no gen requirement for hatch, and at that point the survivor is essentially on death hook regardless.
So by that logic you are tying the ability to Mori to a path of escape.
Following along that path, once the doors are open all survivors have a path to escape, therefore the killer should be able to mori any survivor they down.
Furthermore you are forgetting that Mori's actually got nerfed first.
Along with the old hatch mechanic of multiple survivors escaping with a key before all the gens were done (Bypassing a substantial portion of their objective), killers were able to Mori after having hooked someone once (Bypassing a substantial portion of their objective).
They nerfed Mori's to their current state, making it so survivors could bypass part of their objective but killers could not.
Then they nerfed the hatch and key mechanic to a state that i would argue is pretty balanced with the current Mori system, as no one can bypass a large portion of their objective.
That being said to balance it out 100% they could make a secret survivor offering like the mori offering that would make the hatch spawn when the gens get completed that acts as a 3rd door that can only be opened with a key, that would allow any survivors to escape through it until closed by the killer.

Yeah, cause mori on the first down, was needed for the moris? Cause killing someone after downing him instantly is just broken?
My point was with the Mori, if only one Survivor is allowed to escape trough hatch, Killers shouldnt be able to Mori every survivor after second hook.
