Let's talk about why solo q is actually terrible - tome challenges
We all know about "doing gens, you?" claudettes and megheads doing dumbest thing possible. But where is another huge problem - tome challanges.
I think bhvr needs to rework survivor challanges so it would line up with the gameplay so you wouldn't have to do random stuff and kill your entire team in order to do them. I died so many times because of them it's not even funny. And so many people did too because I had to throw a match in order to hide next the killer for x amount in seconds(do it in one match😧). It's demotivating trying your best and looping the killer at the start of the match just to see one survivor running around the map sabboing hooks, another in a basement opening chest and third one sitting next to you waiting for unhook.
And I get it, survivor gameplay is as deep as a puddle, you do gens, unhook, loop and leave, you can't really think many challanges to do, but I think it would be enough do 5 gens for level 1 tome, 10 gens for level 2 and so on. Challanges like "escape only with one perk" should burn in hell. It's basically a challange "throw games until you get good team or bad killer". Solo q is terrible as is and bhvr making it even worse with tomes.

You're definitely correct. I personally have probably thrown a ton of games to try and complete (or at least make a bunch of extra progress) on survivor challenges. 20 totem cleanses? You'd better bet that I'm equipping a totem destroyer build and trying to clear all 5 totems before I do anything else. Hide within 10 meters of the killer for 60 seconds in a single game? Jigsaw piece offering + key w/ blood amber add-on and standing above/below the killer as they're chasing someone else. Do a glyph? 100% running across the entire map as soon as the match starts to hunt that bad boy down. Once I've done everything I need to do for a challenge in a match I'll play normally, but until that point my teammates are probably trying to figure out if they can report me for throwing or not.
Maybe if I played DBD as my only game I wouldn't be as dedicated to clearing the archive challenges as quick as possible, but I do like to play other games as well and the sooner I've cleared out a page of challenges, the sooner I can go play other games.
Sure, BHVR can clean up challenges to make them a lot less dubious for survivors in terms of teammate gameplay, but as long as they exist at all, people are still going to do what they need to do in order to complete them as fast as possible, including rushing hooks, staying on gens for more progress as someone goes into second state on a hook, or escaping as soon as the exit gates are open instead of trying for an end-game rescue.

The escape with No Mither challenge, Self Care challenge, and that one anniversary challenge requiring you to get hit through a window is just an example of why these challenges need to be looked at

Yeah definitely. The totem ones I hate with a passion because this is not just useless but actively harmful if other players are running a boon. I mean sure if they are running inner healing and other similar perks you can make an argument for it but three different people doing this ran pure totem hunter builds which do nothing but lock out boon perks for their team,
I do think though someone at BHVR enjoys making players suffer and loves reading the pain from solo survivors. There’s very few valid explanations left for why they make the choices they do. The other one being some self obsessed artist with their ‘grand design’ without understand their own creation.
