There are better ways of fixing solo queue that would help substantially more. Voice chat is the lazy route

Think they avoided voice altogether because it's meant to be solo, or it would invite too much trolling/misuse/abuse. Proximity comms would be cool, the amount of time i chase behind someone to try and offer a heal then give up thinking forget it they're doing their own thing or not looking behind ha.

They avoided it for plenty of reasons... Mostly because: Different languages in EU servers, Trolls, Abuse. You're right.

I'd rather have "in game chat" over voice, if proximity comms will not come.

You forgot someone just screaming slurs any time someone gets downed or does that fall under Jake's duties

Personally, I would like voice chat, though I understand many others wouldn't. If the option was there to mute the entire lobby or specific people within it, cool. That'd probably work.

Scripted comm wheels, pings, etc, would help as well.

Killer and game balance would need to be assessed and adjusted for that kind of change, though. Not saying that's a bad thing, but it would likely take a while for the game to balance out with such a massive intel boost for survivors.

They'd have to fix the information lack in solo queue before they'd implement voice comms, since I imagine that'd take a fair amount of time and manpower.

Personally, I don't want it and would disable it all the time, but if it's to be added we need to buff solo queue first.

Ways to allow this community to be even more toxic and another band aid where BHVR think they've addressed something but made it worse? Sounds great.

I want prox chat between killer and survivor. I can just imagine the conversations that would go down. Imagine if a survivor could have a conversation with bubba while being camped in basement. Hilarious.

I was there, I experienced it (in another game that is like DbD).

Match 1: one of the teammates blew a whistle regularly.

Match 2: one of the teammates spoke in glibberish.

Match 3: I disabled voice chat so I could finally play.

Survivor love to troll a killer. With voice chat they would get a way to troll other survivors. It would be a waste of time and money to add voice chat. It would be better to look for real solutions to fix the solo q.

I'm all for this. I'll mute survivor proxy chat and let them distract each other.

A proximity chat would probably be best.

All that it needs is an option to mute or just not join the chat and show who is and isn't in the chat.

Killer would more than likely not have access to the chat, but a perk to possibly listen in on it would be pretty cool idea.

They'll never implement voice chat because they can barely moderate the game as is. They would not be able to keep up with the chat abuse, which is downright endemic in every game with a comms feature.
