Buckle Up discussion
In making some threads about what are apparently statistically the least used perks in the game, this thread is about Ash's perk Buckle Up.
- Buckle Up - You can determine the Recovery progress of dying Survivors by the intensity of their Aura at a distance of 48 metres away. When healing another Survivor from the Dying State to the Injured State, the Killer's Aura is revealed to the both of you for 6/8/10 seconds.
So why is this perk so unpopular? A few guesses
- It only works on survivors who are slugged long enough to be revived. That alone might be ok if the effect were particularly strong (e.g. Unbreakable) but if the effect is only kind of mediocre then you would have a middling effect that happens fairly rarely since slugging that long isn't nearly as common as either hooking or shorter term slugging.
- Second, even if you assume the killer is slugging, it's not clear that knowing the slugged survivor's Recovery progress is actually all that useful. After all, you can already see the slugged survivor's aura to know where they are, so you can see if they're moving or not, and if they're not moving it's a pretty safe bet they're trying to partially revive themselves. At best this information could be used to let you know precisely when you could rush in for an instantaneous revive on someone who's capped themselves out already, but odds are if the survivor has been left alone on the ground that long you're already able to just help them finish the job anyway.
- Finally, while killer auras are nice, in this case they're not all that useful really. If the killer is near the slugged survivor they probably already see you if you are reviving them so you'll be in a chase in a second anyway and the aura for a few seconds won't do much. And if the killer is off in another part of the map then they're probably not coming back that quickly anyway and again the aura won't matter. It's really only good in this narrow window where the killer isn't right near you but is within a medium distance and may or may not be coming back in the few seconds it takes you to revive them.
So this perk could really use a buff or revamp. One possible thing to try might be to change the second sentence to "When healing another Survivor the killer's Aura is revealed to both of you for 6/8/10 seconds", allowing you to get the auras when healing someone else from Injured to Healthy. Seeing the killer's aura if you're healing while Injured is potentially a lot more useful than seeing it when the person being healed is stuck on the ground. Also as far as I can tell this effect wouldn't overlap with any existing survivor aura perk.

Perhaps Buckle Up's aura reveal effect should also work when healing a recently unhooked survivor from the injured state (to the healthy state). And it's secondary effect could be that recently unhooked survivors or dying survivors within 48m of you benefit from the following effect:
Grunts of Pain are reduced by 25%.
Their aura won't be shown towards the killer.
Grants a 10% haste effect (does not effect unhooked survivors that no longer have the "recently unhooked" property).

The 10% haste effect should disable in the endgame, for various reasons (like endgame balancing, etc.).

They should take the 100% healing on downed Survivors from We're Gonna Live Forever
That's what I think

I think Buckle Up needs 2 major changes:
1) The aura reading range needs to be set to 128m. The fact that it has a range cap is pretty unnecessary.
2) Add a Tertiary effect where the killer's aura is revealed to you when they're within 16m of a Dying Survivor. This'd make it a lot more useful for judging when it's safe to go and pick up a survivor.

This was my idea:
You can determine the recovery progress of Survivors in the dying state by the intensity of their auras. When healing another Survivor out of the dying state, the healed Survivor receives a 7% Haste effect for 10 seconds and you both see the Killer's aura for 6/8/10 seconds.
When you are in the dying state, other Survivors can determine your recovery progress by the intensity of your aura. When another Survivor heals you out of the dying state, you receive a 7% Haste effect for 10 seconds and you both see the Killer's aura for 6/8/10 seconds. These effects also apply to you upon fully recovering from the dying state.
You heal other Survivors in the dying state 15% faster.
