Controller issue, odd behaviours?

Currently running DBD through Epic Game Store (got it when it was free to download). Usually I run mouse and keyboard, but occasionally I like to use a controller.

Using a new PDP Xbox One controller and it seems to be acting erratically. On the main menu it randomly opens the daily rituals, and on the character select screen it flips between rituals and character info. I've also noticed that the cursor flits to the mouse pointer icon instead of the standard circle when using a controller, as if my mouse is trying to override the controller or is beign recognised at the same time? My mouse is firmly away from me and my controller at the time, and it is not being jolted a bit.

Also as an added note the controller works fine with every other game. Utterly flawless.

The controller's firmware is up to date, and my game is up to date. Never seen this before with a controller. Is this a known issue? Can anyone suggest a fix please?

    It’s a wired controller, right?

Try to disconnect any other input device including the controller (windows device manager) and then connect the controller again. I think I had a similar issues a long time ago and fixed it that way.

also, are you using a third party software to use the controller on Epic? (I think Microsoft controller don’t need them and work fine - while my Switch Pro Controller had several configuration issues)

I've been having a similar issue as well, I play on PC and I can't use the KB&M controls due to an ongoing issue with my wrist. After playing with a controller I noticed that there have been some really weird input delays going on, as it takes longer than needed to pick up a survivor, prepare/swap weapons, damage/repair gens, hook/unhook etc. Skill checks are surprisingly ok though.

    Yes, it's a wired controller.

I'll give that disconnecting idea a shot and let you know how it goes. No, I'm not using anyother software for the controller, just simple plug and play. (I have noticed that the controller also does odd things with SW: Battlefront II, again, through Epic and Origin. Maybe only Steam is configured correctly for the controller?)

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I had some serious issues with GTA V and my controller on Epic - only solution there was to start the Epic game via Steam (you can add non-Steam games in the Steam library and can use the controller config from Steam then without problems, configuration is just a little painful)

if you can’t figure anything out I could look up the guide i used for this..

Hmm, running the game through Steam sounds likea decent idea, as I've had no controller issues from it so far.

    Thank you!

Unfortunately the above did not work. Adding DBD to my Steam library still showed the same issues.

What's really odd is thaty I used my older Xbox 360 controller, and that worked perfectly fine. Maybe it's just this controller, or some sort of bug?

    that does sound weird.

Are you able to test this controller on another computer to check if it’s occurring there as well?

otherwise I would suggest to open a thread in the technical issues subforum as Kaine or someone else might have the solution to your problem (thing is, this subsection may get overlooked easily…)
