BHVR Didn't put in your card info they dont owe you
these types of tweets have been spammed all across dbds Twitter, this is just plain stupid. it's not like iridescent skins are a new thing, the only new thing about it is that it'll be for all skins and not just some, I've bought a lot of skins with the iridescent shard currency as an option, and yknow what? I ignored it and still went in and paid for it
I full-heartedly supported this game with my own money. That's what matters to me, and I got a skin out of it. When you made that purchase you did it for the convenience, it's there you can get it, might as well have it now right? bhvr can give out infinite blood points that currency means almost nothing to them, but asking for auric cells as compensation, yeah.. that literally loses money and it's crazy to assume that a company is just gonna compensate everyone just because they put everything on discount. I think my point has been made, I heavily disagree with this argument people are pushing
Cheers!

Yeah, I get that you might be slightly irked I suppose but getting mad or whatnot about this is stupid
I got DBD for free (via Game Pass). Did I just screw over all the users that actually paid money for it? I bought Cyberpunk for $10 last Black Friday, did CD Projekt Red screw over all those people who spent $60 on the game?
Things go on sale. Things become free. Things change. Deal with it.
I suppose if BHVR wants to get some goodwill, they could "refund" Shards to players that spent actual money but I don't think BHVR is or should feel under any obligation to refund cosmetics people bought with Cells

Making skins accessible for purchase with in-game currency is awesome and should've been by default. Making a previously accessible rift skin an Amazon Prime reward on the other hand is just plain scummy.
16 -
I don't think you're understanding
Auric Cell exclusive skins are going to be made non-exclusive. So people that wanted it and would have payed shards for them had to buy them with auric cells. Now BHVR is offering the option so it's understandable that people feel disappointed, because why didn't they do that before?

People always get pissy when something they own becomes easier to obtain. It's rarely worth listening to, and when it is, there's always some secondary economic concern that makes actually releasing the thing for cheap a bad thing.
This is just '"I had to pay for it, so should everybody else!" whining.
14 -
Well to point out it'll be with a 4 week Delay which means these skins are still gonna be exclusive, so either way it would've been like this if they had done it before, but the point still stands, bhvr didn't hold you at gunpoint to purchase a single skin, you did so out of your own will. you don't need it to be better at the game, it doesn't help you, you just wanted it. If I got Cyberpunk for 10$ because of a sale, does that means CD project red now owes every other player that bought it at full price 40$???
1 -
100%, and also as if sales on literally everything imaginable hasn't existed for hundreds of years, only difference is, is some got the thing earlier and some didn't but got it for cheaper
0 -
No that doesn't make them exclusive.
And no that's different. You still had to pay for the game.
These things were premium only and out of the blue for no reason they decided to make them available for free as well.
The problem is, why these outfits weren't shards to begin with?

isn't the answer simple like... obviously money yeah, but aren't you glad it isn't that way now???? why do you keep yourself so cooped up in the past and not realize that you are SERIOUSLY complaining about BHVR giving you a free discount, and ungating the pay wall, and you're upset about that :|
again tho, you're decision, you put in your card info, you didn't have to, even tho it was gated off, you still chose to do that, just because it's possible now doesn't mean you still didn't make that choice to pay for it and get it, you didn't need it you wanted it and you bought it, good for you now you have it, this isn't the IRS they don't have to compensate you, its a privately owned business
1 -
Nobody is saying they have to do anything.
Just saying it's not cool of BHVR to do that to past customers.
0 -
I'm a customer, I think it's pretty cool, I can get skins for free, literally what is there not to like, you're tunnel-visioned
3 -
Okay, so you have a different opinion. No need to be disrespectful to others don't share the same one.
It's not being tunnel visioned either. It's being aware of insidious behaviour. haha... insidious bhvr

Excuse me? i'm sorry here, but you came to me, I posted this for discussion to debate about opinions, you can't retcon everything up to this point, you came here, you disagreed, and I discussed it with you on a discussion form, you don't get to retcon your actions, just like you don't get to retcon your skin purchases, you have a big issue with trying to change something you did previously....
You're on a discussion form, that's on you, you don't get to pull the "different opinion" card when you made the choice to be here. you can do that on twitter, but not here.
0 -
You lost me at "you can't retcon everything up to this point".
You're making no sense so im just gonna leave this discussion.

Retcon: Retrospectively change a statement or piece of work now that present things have occured

BHVR owes me all of the legendary skins for doing this. I'll be waiting for my free 100,000 auric cells.

Thing is, they aren't the first to do it that, and they've done it only once so far. Another game which I won't name directly had about a year worth of "Prime" skins and about 70% at least were past event skins. They did have a few that were brand new, but they are all purchasable in the game after their Prime promotion ended (though they are expensive) same as nearly ever other skin in the game (a few are no longer able to be obtained in any way, but none of them are Prime offerings.)
While I realize it's not something players like that they did, neither did I, all the players acting like BHVR did some horribly deceptive thing that there is no precedent for, it's just not the case.
0 -
Oh no, they made something I bought for $10 obtainable via like 100 hours worth of shards.

Back in my day if we got sick we just died. It's no fair that modern generation people got all those fancy-schmancy meh-dee-sins and vax-eens and other shabbalabbadingdongs.

I'm sorry I didn't know the people asking for free bread and water were customers
Cosmetics locked behind a paywall should stay behind a paywall imo
Could have easily released a recolor of the skin for shards.
To unlock a paid cosmetic signals to me that bhvr has nothing new for free users to release..
Or this is a five head move to force paying users to purchase another skin. As these customers are not satisfied looking like a freemium/ f2p gamer 🤷♂️
Sucks because charms are the only exclusive item that are "safe" in the game now
They're not noticeable and were released with no emote or animation to show them off.
Are usually limited timed and are never released.

I admit I barely spent anything on cosmetics but even if I spent more I would be fine with those being available for shards.
Even if they made every chapter free I wouldn't mind. Or game for that matter.
I understand people who disagree tho and their point of view. I just don't mind people getting things I payed for for "free".
0 -
I 100% agree. I mean yea I bought a few outfits that are going to be free to get but oh well instead of being mad that I didn't get it for free I'm going to be happy that other people are getting it for free and my money went towards a game I thought was worth putting money towards.
3 -
Wait, you mean you were buying those skins because you wanted to look like you dumped a ton of money into the game, not because they looked good? In the parts of the internet where I come from, people usually try to avoid that.
You do you, IG. But you can safely stick with licensed killer outfits if that's what you want. Those are never going to be obtainable with shards on account of royalties.
Also, you'd have a point with the bread and water thing if this were a F2P game. It's not. Everyone playing DBD has paid for the base game and whatever DLC they've purchased.
1 -
I didn't realize people were complaining about this. I've spent hundreds on this game for cosmetics and I barely blinked when I saw they'd be available for shards too. It's not like BHVR reached into my wallet and took my money - i willingly paid it and i got what i paid for. I can save some cash going forward now by taking advantage of the shards option, but tbh I'm impatient and probably won't haha 4 week wait or something after the release?
1 -
exactly, and also you're paying for the convenience like you'd have to grind 100 hours just to get a skin, auric cells are still very much more viable than shards if you want a skin
0 -
Lol it isn't free iridescent shards take a while to build up
2 -
Yeah it really feels like people being entitled. It also brings up the question of why you really bought it. Personally I buy skins because they look nice, and make my brain chemicals more happy. I'm not gonna be mad they can now do the same for people that cant spend money. If you really just bought the skins because they felt like some status symbol then L I guess lmao
1 -
It isn't even insidious, it is quite literally basic business strategies. They need money as they aren't very big, some skins can only be bought with money. They are now far more popular and don't rely on skin money as much, we can now give people the option to get them for free (but can still be bought with money of course). Makes sense and I'm at least happy it happened at all. They could've been like other games and locked EVERYTHING behind paywalls.

Really cute post.. it's a like a bum complaining about people buying Nike's.
Then Nike gives the shoes to the homeless for collecting cans and all of sudden Nike is doing a great deed 🤦♂️
How can you not understand that BHVR decision is devaluing the item?
A recolor would have been sufficient and "fair"
I wasn't gifted the game with playstation plus, Xbox gold or downloaded it as f2p epic games gamer.
So spare me with, "I'm a customer" routine smh
This game has been free, discounted to a dollar on steam or is part of a subscription service.
At most you paid $40-60 multiple years ago.. you are not entitled to cosmetics sold to other customers.
Tbh you don't have a valid opinion on this subject because you don't even own a paid skin imo
0 -
Uh, except the issue is I do own paid skins. A lot of them. I'm just not salty about it and see this as an opportunity to be able to get more stuff moving forward.
Just went through my store; here are the non-licensed paid outfits I've purchased.
Plague's Crimson Robe (400)
Plague's Celestial Salvation set (675)
Plague's Blighted set (300, sale)
2/3s Plague's Levant Wanderer set (650)
Hag's Blooming Seed Core (400)
Hag's Fangtasmagoria (400)
Blight's Mangled Tailcoat (400)
Spirit's Hibernal Sarashi (400)
Wraith's Evening Wear (400)
Trapper's Crankcase Suit (275)
Shirtless David (400)
Mikaela's Scarlet Off-Shoulder Top (300)
Comes up to $50. But, you know, I wanted these skins anyway and I don't have shards to spare, so I'm not too broken up about this.
And you can't devalue an item that can't be resold, so...

be happy for others instead of jealous
it was worth it at the time and what you got didn't change. life isn't a museum.
