New Player Question (Campfest??)

I just got the game and put in a lot of hours already because it is kind of fun but here's my beefs so far and address as you please. These aren't bashes on the game but things for a new player I dislike. Some of it could be due to experience and some may be due to just junk.

  1. As a survivor, if a killer get on me, I might as well just stand there and wait to die. Sometimes I get away but 99% of the time I'm just dead. Even me as a new killer experience this. Only once or twice has someone got away.

  2. Are flashlights even a thing?? I say this sarcastically because I've seen them and have had some myself but I've literally only had two (2) available to me. It seems the best way to work as a team is someone with a flashlight actually use it but you never see them. Why have I only seen two the whole time I've been playing.

  3. Is this game nothing but a campfest? Most of my games are killer catches someone then runs in circles around the hook. This is not fun in any way and how is it fun for the killer.

  4. Camping is promoted it seems. As a survivor I get crap points and bp. As a killer, even if I lose it all I will usually get 20k plus. It seems camping is promoted because you just run as a killer, camp, get a ton of bp, then spend them all on a different character to level them up.

  5. Why does it seem sometimes killers know exactly where I'm at even though I've been hiding and walk right up to me. I'm not talking following footsteps or blood and I can't pin down to one particular killer because it happens on different ones. This doesn't happen a ton but it's just weird that, for example, one time I was hiding in a closet and knew the killer was on other side of map because they just killed someone. I waited in the closet because I knew they were going to come check the generator. This shack, has 4 to 5 closets I believe. The killer walks in, doesn't even look around the shack or inside the shack, and walks right up to my closet out of 5 an captures me. Are these cheaters I'm running into or do some killers literally have the ability to see me. (In this case it was The Huntress)

Again, I'm not here to bash or anything, I'm fully willing to accept some responses will be about my knowledge and skill. I agree with that. I was up all night playing this after buying it because it was hella fun but the more I've played the more these annoyances have been sticking out and it's rapidly becoming less fun. My friend was going to buy it but I told him to hold off until I'm sure I'll even stick around.

You're new, and while you're new, Killers do seem overpowered. Trust me, once you get better at the game or face better Survivors, you'll change your mind very quickly.
Camping became a problem because Survivors, way back when the game was released, kept rushing the hook before the Killer had even left. They still do it, so camping pays off more often than not.
The bloodweb is random. You're just getting unlucky.
There's a mechanic that prevents Survivors from going AFK in any one location. If you're immobile for long periods of time, crows start circling overhead. If you still won't move or take part in things like generator repair, the Killer gets a notification of your location.
If you sprint into closets, the Killer gets a notification. Same thing if you sprint and vault. Just by sprinting, you leave scratch marks that can lead the Killer to you.

I advise you to read the official wiki (deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com) for more mechanics you may want to know about.

    1) My best advice would be to see some of the best players streaming on Twitch and see how they play survivor. Learning to run the correct routes, loops, pallets etc. is not easy and should not be easy, and you can never learn to escape every chase - but you can get a lot better. Run an exhaustion-perk if you're not already, also perks like Lightweight are very decent at higher ranks.

3+4) Camping is quite common on higher ranks. When you get to the lower ranks and meet better killers, they're usually way less campy than "new" players.

    5) Several killer perks can reveal survivor auras for a short period of time. Rancor, Barbecue & Chili etc. - survivors also make sounds even while not injured, so if you're up against a person with a decent pair of headset that might simply have been it. Could've simply been bad luck as well.

Ok I will go one by one.

1-) As a survivor, your mission is to complete generators. Killers are going to find you one way or another. At this point, you must understand that you will go down eventually and until that time, you have to waste as much time as possible to give your survivor friends enough time to complete generators. There are ways to keep the killer busy but to master them is not really easy. You can watch twitch streamers and understand what they try to do in that situation.

2-) At low ranks, people don't prefer to use flashlights because it is a risky business for them and most of the time doesn't even work. You might see more flashlights as you climb up to the high ranks.

3-) I don't find camping fun and most survivors neither but some killers choose to do so. The best way to deal with this is to complete generators as soon as possible.

4-) It is not about camping, killers earn bloodpoints easily than survivors.

5-) There is a perk called BBQ that allows killers to see you whenever they hook somebody. You said that the huntress downed somebody so I assume that she hooked him and saw your aura, came to the closet and find you. Another scenario is crows. When you wait in a place for a long time without doing anything, killer starts to get notifications and find you easily.

Yes it is a campfest. This is why solo survivor is worthless.

Either play with friends or play killer instead.
