The Boon: Exponential Rework

With self pickup becoming base-kit and Unbreakable’s rework, I don’t see Exponential getting enough value to justify a perk slot anymore. Here’s my idea to rework exponential to make it something worth bringing into games.

Boon Exponential - Whenever a Survivor heals a full health state within the range of the totem, all injured Survivors with in range gain a health state.

This perk would follow the similar rules as Renewal. So it wouldn’t work for 99ing heal outside the totem and finishing it in the totem. It needs the full health state. It activates from self healing and teammate healing.

That would be way too OP especially since people are going pair it with the healing boon... why not have a new boon effect like vigil or leader while youre in the boon

Usually I'm open to the people's idea's for reworks, but this just ain't it, the only thing it has in common with current exponential is that it only benefits SWF's.

Thematically its similar because it can affect multiple Survivors at once and still has a health state recovering effect.

It has a big potential snowballing effect once it gets started hence it still fits the name Exponential

Even if people use Exponential with Circle of Healing. It’s giving them a reason to use another perk slot on a Boon which only leaves two slots left to bring other perks.

I'll accept the perk if it only works against Legion, because screw Legion.

Legion is the Killer that it would be strongest against. They’re the most likely Killer to leave multiple Survivors injured at the same time without chasing them.

Ow no i don't like that.

That's just insane in swf. Imagine chasing someone and suddenly they heal a healthstate out of nowhere cause another teammate called out to them that they will start healing in the boon area

Would also make it harder to pick up on hackers. Survivors should never just heal out of nowhere without there being a clear sign why the heal happened like medkit dissapearing or being broken first or all gens being done

The problem with exponential isn't that it doesn't bring enough vallue (not less then before anyway) but that unbreakable gives the same passively with no setup or whatever.

Nerf unbreakable to a reasonable state and exponential will be fine again

If it would heal mabye half or even 1/3 of a health state i think it would be fine. very strong but its a boon so it SHOULD BE. but a full health state is 2 much

Well the Boon is the giveaway just like current Exponential. It’s usually pretty obvious when Exponential is in play cause Survivors start getting up way too fast for it to be Unbreakable and the Boon totems can be heard from pretty far away relative to the size of their effect radius.

As a downside to my reworked Exponential, it could have an Aura reveal effect for 8 seconds to every Survivor healed (including the one that activates the perk). This would also give it some synergy with Shadow Step bringing another Boon into more widespread usage.

No one uses Reactive Healing or the Jane perk that grants partial healing progress whose name I can’t remember.

Partial healing sucks because it requires a med-kit, self-care or circle of healing to finish the heal, which kinda defeats the purpose since you’re now using two perk slots or a perk slot and an item slot.

I feel like this would be too strong. I say just increase wiggle speed by 100%

I wouldn’t mind that actually. Keeping the perk similar to how it is on Live servers but adding the wiggle speed increase. Could be really interesting and give it a niche over Unbreakable

exponential ability to pick people up is powerful effect already if the killer slug. it does not need rework. what keeps the perk for being used is low 24 meter range. If this perk was bigger range, like 48 meters which is half the map, you would not be able to slug with the boon up. Its sort of crazy to think that they're giving global boon exponential to the survivor's base-kit. I just do not think that deleting an entire strategy at base-kit is good especially one that is not popular in every single trial.

100% wiggle increase would be more powerful than pre-nerfed boil over. you wouldn't be able to hook anyone if survivor bodyblock the hook while your carrying them off the hook even if they're like... 6 meters away from the hook.

    I dig it.

Could find itself some use in certain builds i.g Boil Over + Flip Flop

It would be too strong, I'm sorry to say. But you could suggest gaining half a health state, similar to resurgence, or a 2x healing speed boost until fully recovered.

With the right squad that would be the most broken perk in the game

Still think that award goes to Power Struggle because with Flip Flop SWFs teams can threaten the pallet save long enough for the Killer to reach a lose/lose scenario where they can’t pick up at all.

Oh no way. That would be way too good in SWF especially when combined with circle of healing.

Since the new system effectively means that survivors' default recovery speed is reduced by around 29% (from 0.5 to 0.355), they just need to buff the recovery speed bonus on exponential to 180/190/200%, up from 90/95/100%. At tier 3, that will make a self-pickup take around 15 seconds under the new system (16 / 1.07). That's 1 second faster than it is now (16 / 1), which I'd say is close enough. If left unchanged, it will be 22.5 seconds (the same as the buffed UB), which would mean exponential is actually worse than it was before and it certainly doesn't need a nerf.

Assuming they do fix that, the real problem here imo will not be exponential itself and will be that the buffed UB is absolutely ridiculous and should not exist in any way, shape, or form. Honestly UB should just be reworked entirely. A passive recovery boost like that with no prerequisite is not balanced and I feel like with survivors being able to fully recover on their own, recovery speed should be treated similar to repair speed where there's not very many things that can affect it, and those that do have conditions/prerequisites, something exponential has and UB doesn't.
