Fan chapter: The Malice of Art (Map, Killer and Survivor idea)

Hello hello, welcome to my first chapter idea, The Malice of Art. (The name is a pin off the phrase “The Magic of Art”). This chapter was Inspired by the low key creepy art style of Max Fleischer, (the guy who created Popeye and Betty Boop) and more specifically his “Out of the Inkwell” cartoons (and yes there is also inspiration taken from Bendy and the Ink Machine). I thought of a character that’s acts similar to a deranged cartoon would be fun and creepy to see. Let me know what you guys think!

Map: The Grotesque Zoo (Foresaken Boneyard)

A strange sighted had sprouted from within the barren landscape. A deranged zoo. Multiple different cages and structures can be found stretching out in odd shaped and angles. Strange looking animals of all kinds can be seen prancing around the still occupied cages. Like a living cartoon had sprung out from a tv screen. Created from spiteful mind of the Toon and fuels by the boneyard’s ink, The Entity created this place to further mock the Toon.

I wanted a map idea that’s looks similar to a living cartoon (why a zoo? You’ll find out when you get too the killer’s backstory). But since it’s a living cartoon, I figured it would need a good source of ink to exist. That’s why I placed it in The Forsaken Boneyard. Seemed the most fitting cuz of the ink.

Killer: The Toon

Name: Marius Rusu

Aliases:  Comedian, Actor, Lion

Gender: Male

Nationality: Romanian American

Realm: Forsaken Boneyard (The Grotesque Zoo)

Power: Looney Logic

Weapon: Paper Cutter

Speed: 4.6/115%

Terror Radius: 30 meters

Height: Tall

Appearance: The Toon is a slightly stocky man wearing a white dress shirt and black slacks with black suspenders. His shirt is unbuttoned, revealing a hairy torso, half tucked into his pants and around his neck you can see an loose black tie. He wears a pair of cartoonish white gloves (with black claws sticking out from the fingertips), and only one black dress shoe. His other foot is barely humanoid, looking more similar to a feline’s paw. He has a long lion’s tail sticking out a hole in his slacks and his legs were bent slightly odd, making him walk funny. His clothes are stained with specks of blood and black ink, with some very heavy stains along the sleeves where his wrists are. The Toons’s head is disturbing, like a human/cartoon lion hybrid. While still mostly human shaped, his white face pushes out into a short muzzle with his nose being a black circular triangle and his huge mouth taking up most of his muzzle in a unnaturally wide grin, showing human-ish teeth that came a point. He has little black lion-like ears barely seen in the black mass of his mane, and his eyes are black ovals with little triangle cut in them.

Background

Marius Rusu came from a large family of immigrants from Romania. The middle child of many brothers and sisters, along with his aunts, uncles and cousins, Marius never had the attention of just about any of his family members. This grew a desire to be noticed by anyone in Marius’ life. He took up different sports and kept good grades to gain the attention of his family. But none of it ever lasted very long. There were times Marius would even fake injuries and sicknesses to get attention. He eventually begin to place jokes, cause mischief and being overwhelmingly silly to get some notice from his family members, even if it was in the form of agitation. In school, he found his antics to charm many of his peers, gaining popularity from it. Marius ate up the attention, becoming somewhat of a class clown to entertain his classmates, much to the dismay of his teachers. As he grew older and found his knack for comedy, Marius eventually took a job as a busboy at a local cabaret, watching performances from a singing, dance, poetry, and, his personal favorite, the comedy segments. For years, Marius would watch, laugh and take note of the qualities and details it takes to put up a good and funny performance. Marius made friends with many of the performers and eventually they helped convince the owners to let Marius take a shot with his own bit. Marius was in instant hit with the club, having the audience in stitches with laughter. Marius finally got the attention he so deeply desired for, having all eyes on him. One of those eyes happen to be a casting director who taken quiet a liking to Marius, offering him a role for a comedic silent film. This led to Marius becoming a star over night, becoming well known for his physical comedy and clever visuals. He appeared in many movies, making fans and costars laugh with delight. But eventually the laughter died out and so did Marius’ stardom. He was tossed aside while newer and younger stars took his place. The older comedian desperately looked for new roles to take and found himself in the world of cartoons. He taken the role of voicing a character for a new animated short film series. Cartoons. Marius hated this work with everything he had in him. He was no longer the face everyone came to see, it was the idiotic character, Leonard Lion, that everyone was watching. The rage that filled him when the cartoons became a hit was almost indescribable. He hated that lion with a passion. But it continue on, needing the paychecks, doing one short animated film after the other for what felt like a lifetime. Watching that stupid cat’s face with his name barely legible underneath. Despite it being his voice that brought that idiotic character to life, Marius himself was very much forgotten. So when the time came and Marius found an audition for a movie in the making, he jumped for it. Something that can out his face back in the spotlight was something he hungered for again. It was short walk from his home to the lot where auditions were taking place, and Marius practically sprinted there. But In his overeager haste, he didn’t notice the oncoming car until it was far from too late. It was miracle itself that he wasn’t killed in the accident. Another miracle was that even though the damage done to his legs was severe, he still had the ability to use them after his hospital stay. But his face was far from a miracle. Having slammed face first into the windshield of the car cause the glass to shatter to pieces. The only luck part was that none of the shards of glass stabbed into his face had blinded him. Marius had to get 113 stitches done to his face after the careful removal of glass. Marius was completely unrecognizable from what he use to look like and everyone who remembered him knew that. After many months of healing, Marius attempted to try auditions again. But now every door was slammed to his disfigured face. Nobody wanted to see his ugly mug on the silver screen. Marius had spiraled into his own well of despair, anger and starvation for the spotlight that was ripped away from him. So when he came to work at the animation studio and went to read his script, he glared at one of his fellow voice actors were stifling a laugh. Glaring while standing up, Marius asked what was so funny. One of his coworkers answer by handing him a picture of one of his headshots, but the face was drawn in to assemble a lion, Marius’ name crossed out, and Instead was written “Leonard Lion, your new pretty face”. What happened next felt like slow motion to Marius, but was only seconds long. The nearby paper cutter’s was within reach and on complete impulse Marius grabbed the handle of the blade and turn quickly, yanking the entire paper cutter off the table, the wooden base cracking into the side of one of his laughing coworker’s head. The wooden base broke off, leaving only the slightly bent blade left in Marius’ hands as blood poured from the wound in his coworker’s head. Marius stared at the forming blood puddle and  the blade in his hands, feeling a bit of his rageful stress melt away from him. It was the screams of his other coworkers that snapped him back out of his relief and back to his unfortunate reality. In a fit of rage, he swung his blade, finding the neck of another coworker and spraying blood everywhere. All hell broke loose after that, Marius chasing down his fellow voice actors with the paper cutter blade, slashing each of them one by one, attacking anyone within his reach. Each time the blade sunk into flesh, his rage relaxed a bit more. By the end of his tantrum, the building was now empty, all the other employees having evacuated the building, leaving only him and 7 other dead bodies, three of them being his fellow voice actors and the others being unfortunate employees who got in the way. The anger was no longer boiling, but was now being overflowed by the despair at the irony of his situation. Everyone was going to know his name now, but not in the way he wanted. He never will be on the silver screen again, hell he won’t even have this stupid cartoon anymore after what he did. What was the point? Marius made his way to the drawing room before slumping to the ground. He stared at the drawing of Leonard Lion, his resentment growing deeper and deeper as the cartoon stared back almost snugly. That stupid cat had won. A black mist slowly filled the room has Marius brought the blade to his wrist and slowly dragged it across, doing the same with his other wrist. He stared at his own pooling blood, the world slowly becoming disoriented. But while dying, Marius didn’t notice the drawings around him. The black mist danced along the drawing, making the ink melt off the papers, quickly cascading off the tables, and drawing boards. The ink slowly made its way to Marius like it was drawn to him. By the time Marius gained enough awareness to his surrounding, his blurred vision barely could see the ink curling up his body and around him. Some of the ink poured into his open wounds on his wrist, while the rest moved up to his disfigured face, wrapping around him, almost like a mask. Marius couldn’t tell if the world fading was from his injuries or from the ink. All he could do was let out one last half-hearted laugh as he fell into the spiraling and foggy madness of his ruined life.

Weapon: Paper Cutter.

The Toon uses an old paper cutter blade as his weapon. A shaper piece of metal use to cut paper and the occasional flesh! After hitting a survivor, The Toon will bend the paper cutter like a piece of rubber and let it go, snapping it back to a straight blade and flinging the blood off in the process.

Power: Looney Logic.

The Toon was given the ability to mess with physics and reality in the realm of the Entity to a certain degree.

Special Attack: Rubber Hose

The Toon can Wind up his arm for an attack. When release, The Took will stretch out his arm forward, acting as a semi-range attack before snapping back to normal. 12 meter maximum distance.

Special Ability: The Hole Idea

The Toon carries around multiple removable holes that act like cloth that he put down on any flat surface. Only he interact with these holes though. To the survivor, they appear as simple black circles. The Toon can place about 12 holes down at a time. Each new hole he places down will replace the oldest one. Holes can be destroyed using Flashlights, A Flash Grenade or Flash Mines.

Swiss Walls: Placing holes on walls and other props, becoming a special window vault only The Toon is able to use. Survivors will be unable to use the holes as vaults and to their perspective, it’ll just be a black circle. Using a black hole as a vault will allow the Toon to gain the Undetectable Status for 6 seconds.

Hole-y Grounds: The Toon is also able to place holes on the ground, being able to use them to hide in. While hiding in a hole, he gains the Undetectable status and it able to look around from inside the hole. Entering and exiting the hole takes about 2 seconds.

Perks: Just For Laughs, Hex: The Show Must Go On, and Hex: Running Gag

Just for Laughs: This next bit will leave your prey in hysterics. When a survivor created a Boon Totem, they will scream out, revealing their aura for 3.5 seconds. They will suffer from the Incapacitated statuses for 25/35/45 seconds.

“I’m a professional! A comic genius! I can make practically anyone die from laughing!” -Marius Rusu

Hex: The Show Must Go On: Make your prey’s escape even harder. It’s more fun that way. If there is still a dull totem on the map when the exit gates are powered up, the Hex will apply to it. 1/2/3 Skill Checks will appear when attempting to open any exit gate. Failing a Skill Check will reset any progress for opening the Exit Gate. The Hex Perk can be broken if the Hexed Totem is cleansed.

“After being stuck behind that stupid lion’s face for so long, I finally have my next big break! I can’t wait for that audition!” -Marius Rusu

Hex: Running Gag: Two random dull or hex Totems will exist in the Spirit World, and cannot be seen/interacted by survivors. Every 80/60/40 seconds, these Totems will reappear and two other random Totems will shift into the Spirit World. If there are no available totems left in the trial, this perk will deactivate. Totems in the Spirit World will be highlighted pink.

“Thanks for watching folks! Really! I may be a lion, but I ain’t lying!” -Leonard Lion

Mori Killing: The Toon sits down, sticking his paper cutter into the ground next to him as he watches the survivor stand and attempt to run to an open exit gate. The Toon laughs loudly as the survivor smacks into a wall painted to look like the opened exit gate. As the survivor falls to the ground, holding their nose, The Toon then grabs his handle of his paper cutter and pulls it so the side like a lever. A low whistling sound can be heard as the survivor hears it and look up just to have an anvil (or a safe) drop from the sky and crush their head, as The Toon laughs even more while standing back up.

Survivor: Noa Levy

Role: Creative Animator

Gender: Female

Nationality/Ethnicity: Jewish American (Israeli Decent)

Appearance: Noa is a young, fair skin woman with straight brown hair and dark brown eyes. She wears a white shirt, dark blue jeans and dark red sneakers. She also wears a red beanie cap, round-framed glasses and a dark denim jacket she wears over her shoulders. She wears a sterling Hamsa brooch pinned to her jacket and she has random drawing from markers and pens drawn on her hands and forearms.

Backstory: Noa Levy loved to watch cartoons as a kid. So much so that she wanted to draw her favorite characters and recreated her favorite scenes. Of course, her drawing were rudimentary and amateur, but she kept at it. She drew pretty much everyday, especially both inside and out of art classes. Her parents always told her to manifest what she wanted in her mind, and she’ll eventually get it. Eventually she began creating and drawing her own characters, not just one she sees from tv and books. Noa continued to draw her way through art school, eventually finally trying her hand at animation. The process was long, tiresome and her drawing hand practically ached everyday. Noa kept at it, because seeing her creations come to life gave her life in return. She graduated from her art school and soon found an apprenticeship at Inky Brain Studios, a well-known animation studio, under a mentor by Samuel Mayer. For a couple of years, she got Mayer coffee, learned new software, learned new techniques, and develop her skills as both an artist and animator. Every chance she got, she pitch an idea to Mayer and the other managers, hoping for something to stick. Eventually, something did; a story of young girl with telekinetic powers learning to control it and eventually becoming a super hero. Mayers seems to enjoy the idea a lot offered to pitch it to their producers. Noa was so excited, she couldn’t wait to see what the producers thought. She decided to check to see what the producers had reviewed. Her heart pounded with excitement as she saw how they talked about how much the love the idea and wanted to launch a pilot. Then in an instance, her heart shattered as she realized her own name was not mentioned. Just Mayer’s. The next day Noa confronted her mentor, accusing him of stealing her idea. All he did in return was smirk, and said “welcome to the industry” before walking away from her. Noa was angry, she worked so hard and got used by someone she thought she trusted. She glared at him hard, burning a hole right into his leaving form as he rubbed his left arm, wishing just he would drop dead. The next few seconds happen in a blur. Mayer was walking when he stumbled a bit, clutching his chest when he just collapsed. Drool poured from his mouth and his face was contorted in pain and fear as the life faded from him. Noa stared in shock in horror, taking a moment to realize what had happened before she screamed and ran toward to him. Others soon appeared and crowded around the dead body. It didn’t take long for someone to call medical services and soon ambulances took the body away. A few days later Noa eventually heard the cause of death; heart attack and stroke at the same time. Wasn’t surprising to the doctors, the man drank religiously and probably hadn’t had a vegetable in years. A small memorial went on for Mayer before everything went back to normal. Except for Noa. She knew his death had nothing to do with her, but it felt way too coincidental to her even if it didn’t make any logical sense. Her parents always told her to imagine what she wanted and at that moment she did imagine him dead. Did she somehow lead to his demise? She was able to move up the ranks in Inky Brain and eventually became a full time artist herself, drawing and animations her psychic character. She was proud of that, but the thought of Mayer’s death still clung to her. On her breaks she took, she found herself wandering around an old abandoned building. She remembered Mayer had told her that this building was the original animation department back in the 30’s, back when Inky Brain was first starting out. She remember him trying to scare her with the story of an actor who went crazy and killed a bunch of people before disappearing. Of course she looked it up and found that to be true, a man really did kill people in this building. Before Mayer’s death she avoided his building every chance she got, but after his death, she found herself sneaking inside and sitting in the abandoned rooms. It was odd and kinda creepy, but the energy in the room rivaled with her guilt. Noa held on the guilt for a while, but not forever. Eventually she learned a bit more of Samuel Mayer. A crude and terrible person. A Beater and cheated on multiple wives, harassment claims, stolen other ideas from other young artists, etc. One day came that Noa was sitting at a table in the abandoned buildings sorting through some old sketches of a character named Leonard Lion when she finally let out a long, much needed breath. She didn’t feel bad about Meyer’s death anymore. She didn’t cause it and, quite frankly, he might’ve even deserved it. She gave herself a shaky smile as she stood up , glancing at the winking pictures one more time before leaving. Wait. She froze and turn and stared at the picture. Did it just wink at her. She blinked and shook her head. That’s impossible, she must’ve imagine this. Noa didn’t notice a dark fog forming outside. She begin to leave when she heard it. A deep chuckle from in the room. She spun around in a panic, to see nobody in the room. And no drawing of Leonard Lion either. She shook with fear before bolting out the room. She nearly slipped before slamming herself on the wall of the room. She glance down to see a mixture of ink and…was that blood? She regain her footing and kept running toward the back of the building, knowing that there was an exit that lead right to the parking lot where her car was. She glancing back in her escape to see the black fog rolling in and someone standing in the middle. A large humanoid figure with a head that didn’t look human at all. Noa slammed herself into the exit door and screamed as they didn’t open. The fog and the figure approached her as she screamed for help, beating against the door. Finally the door opened and she ran as fast as she could toward the parking lot. She ran and ran into the fog…and realize the parking lot shouldn’t be this far away. She then realize she wasn’t running in asphalt or concrete, but on a grassy trail. Noa Levy was reported missing when she didn’t return from her break.
