A friend of mine and I were running a test to see how the game might effect certain things. We had concerns that games would end "prematurely" or that it would negatively effect killers who might need to or benefit from slugging. Among other things.

We set out to mark down each time certain things happened during the current live version of the game, as well as similar things that happened during the PTB.

To preface this, this isn't exactly the most scientific methodology and all the data should be taken with a grain of salt.

Pre PTB (Live Game) results:

Anytime the game would have auto ended under the new conditions but something happens in that period of time that keeps it going. (This included situations where everyone was down/hooked but someone got a wiggle off, DS, someone got themselves up with unbreakable, got themselves off hook and so on.) This happened twice.

Anytime someone is left as a slug for more than 45 seconds. (Pretty self explanatory, the purpose of this was to note how often people would be able to get themselves up if hypothetically the basekit unbreakable was applicable to this match. This might not be super significant because killers will simply slug less with the new system.) This happened a total of 18 times.

Anytime all survivors are downed before the most recently slugged person can get up (45 seconds) (This in other words could be simplified to "Anytime the game would have auto-ended under the new conditions." and was mainly phrased this way so we could consciously think that if the killer slugged 3 or 4 of us, would the game have actually auto ended or would have someone got up?) This happened once.

For the data above this was from 30 separate full matches. Out of those matches in 17 of them none of the above occurred. At least one occurred in the other 13. During these matches people got themselves up with a perk (be that No Mither, Soul Guard or Unbreakable) 3 times out of all of them. All of these matches consisted of myself in a 2 man SWF. The other two were randos. I can assure you we weren't actually playing any differently or trying to make any of the above occur. We were just paying close attention.

PTB results:

The parameters for the PTB were changed to simply mean when X DID happen instead of when it WOULD.

Anytime the game auto ends where something could have happened under the old conditions. (This one was kind of loose to how it was decided. We just debated whether or not there was a decent chance someone could have wiggled off or used hook chances.) This happened twice.

Anytime the game auto ends with greater than 2 people left in the trial. (This is just something we noted to keep track of games that seemed very prematurely ended.) This happened once.

Anytime someone gets themselves up. (Again, pretty self explanatory. Just noting the frequency of the new basekit Unbreakable actually getting use.) This happened 11 times.

Anytime the game auto ends. This happened 3 times.

For the data above this was from 10 separate full matches. In 8 of the 10 games at least one of the above happened at least once. Also we had an additional parameter that was as follows: Anytime the game auto ends with 3 or more players left in the trial. This happened once, it was a match where a nurse was going for getting the auto-end Mori as fast as possible (it took her a while actually.) All 4 of us were still in the match.

Ideally we would have been able to get a larger PTB sample size but unfortunately the queue times were starting to get long as it seems people have already begun uninstalling it. My conclusion based solely on my experience and this data is that both the New Mori/Last Standing Mechanic and basekit Unbreakable won't actually affect the game much? Seems like people who slug for more than 45 seconds are pretty uncommon and games that auto-end are pretty much over anyway and it just saves time and tedium.

That isn't actually how I feel. But that is the impression I get from the data. I'm concerned for killers like Twins, Oni and Plague. Killers who I think will suffer from losing the option to slug. I'm also thinking we might see an increase in sabo squad effectiveness. During the PTB I primarily ran the following build: Unbreakable, Boil Over, Breakdown and Flip-flop. While it didn't appear inherently broken (at least in my hands) it was rather effective. It's a build that in the current game would discourage the killer from leaving me slugged OR hooking me. In the PTB that was also true, but killers weren't slugging anyway because of basekit Unbreakable so I mainly got Boil Over and Flip Flop value with the other 2 as backups.

I'd love to hear what y'all think of all the data above and would share your own personal experience with the PTB!

P.S. Mods please do not move this to PTB feedback. It does not qualify as that. This is data from a test a friend and I were running before and during the PTB. I don't actually have strong enough feelings to leave any feedback on the PTB. Was just hoping to share my findings between both with this forum. Thank you!

This actually does probably belong in the PTB forum since it’s all about comparing the PTB version of the game with the current version. But that’s up to the mods. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, I agree that the new system isn’t really going to change most matches. There are some corner cases with the slugging changes where sometimes a survivor can get up that they might not otherwise and with dedicated sabotage Unbreakable swfs being a bit annoying but most games won’t be those. And the Last Standing Mori wins are all games that the survivors were definitely going to lose soon after nobody wS standing. I have yet to see a game on the PTB where the survivors could feasibly have come back from that. So all the new Last Standing does is speed up the cleanup part of the endgame where the killer hooks the last dying survivor or two or chases down a last straggler.

If they move it I'll just post my findings from the live game by themselves, linking to the new home of this post.

Anyway yeah I agree. I think it could use some tweaking though. I think Twins is going to suffer and the opportunities the new auto-end might kill is a bummer.

Right, I could see them potentially doing a couple of tweaks specifically for Twins and maybe to adjust the bonuses on No Mither and Unbreakable. (Is it just me or does it feel like No Mither should be 75-100% speed bonus and Unbreakable should be 25-50%?)

OhTofu did a video on sabo squad and it doesnt seem to work any better than it does now. Like current sabo squad its annoying af but the killers were consistantly getting 2+ kills

Yup, It just prolongs the game but you don't get much done in terms of gens.
