    It's literal removal of 99'ing. It's up to them if they wanna stay a 1 hit. Situational or not, if you don't like it, just run that.

    It's a risk/reward play on the survivor's part to 99 the gate.

    Leave it closed, and there's a potential chance that you could get caught on your way to the door since you need to open it and then exit it. Open it, and you can just walk right out the gate, but the EGC begins and your teammates might be in a dicey situation because of it.

    Edit:

    As killer, just pop the gate open if you see all three lights on. With the clock ticking sooner than normal, you can give yourself a small advantage.

    They're not going to do it. They already said it's not fun for survivors to have regressing gates!

    No, it's awkward but it shouldn't be changed unless the entire EGC is reworked. The EGC isn't meant to favor either side, but as it is, it inherently does favor the killer. 99 gates is the counterplay to that and it should stay as long as the EGC works the way it does.
