High Rank Legion Analysis and Feedback
Hello All!
I've been playing DbD for quite some time and normally read but don't write. The past few days discussion about Legion and disdain for the killer has reached a crescendo. Fortunately, I've been playing Legion about as extensively as one is able since release and have some thoughts to share, as well as a possible direction to go in that doesn't involve buffing speed.
General Gameplay Thoughts and Strategy: Honestly, I've found that I've had the most success playing Legion as a control/defensive oriented killer like Hag or Doctor. The amount of effort it takes to wound a survivor with frenzy isn't really demanding, and you can screen the area every time you deep wound a survivor to check the area for others within a range of 40m! I would often chain my aggression off of the first person hit to make sure to keep as many survivors wounded as possible. Luckily, Monitor & Abuse helps Legion twofold; the tiny non-frenzy terror radius helps sneak up on and down survivors that overlinger in the wounded state, similar to how Spirit players can get easy initial hits before the chase starts due to the shrunken TR. I never downed a player by stabbing them four times with frenzy, I never found it necessary. If you're caught in a bad area like Killer shack then it's easier and more efficient to moonwalk them down than it is to frenzy strike them four times.
The other technique related to this involves knowing when to break off inefficient chases. If you attempt to m1 a wounded survivor but they catch you in a bad position, sprint bursting to an autohaven pallet for example, it can be easier to simply use frenzy to deep wound them and chase down another target in the area. Discordance can also greatly contribution to having a sense where survivors are at all times. Despite the tips people give about not grouping up against Legion, they more often than not work on a generator together and trigger Discordance allowing easy multiple deep wounds.
Yes, there were bad games where I always managed to run out of Frenzy right before the first hit, or couldn't M1 anybody due to playing an open map like autohaven, but I was able to consistently double pip with Legion at red ranks with a more defensive, control oriented style. I will also note that I did not use Ruin or NOED in any game. The perk loadout in most cases was BBQ/M&Q/Discordance/Sloppy or Overcharge.
Suggestions:
I believe the best direction to go in balance wise with the Legion would be to highlight the difference between Frenzy/Not Frenzy, giving them more utility beyond just a weaker form. My suggestion would be to remove the red stain from the Legion when they are not in Frenzy and perhaps shrink the non-Frenzy TR by about 4m or so. The reason for this would be to strengthen the Myers-like playstyle of non-frenzy, which helps create an effective, mindgame/stealth oriented way to finish off survivors lingering after mends rather than having to moonwalk them down or frenzy stab them four times (or use purple addons to manage time efficiently). I would also suggest converting the Pin series of addons (Reduce power gauge depletion on successful attacks, effectively useless) and convert them to "Calm" Doctor style addons that help adjust terror radius beyond having to depend on Monitor & Abuse, allowing for more variety in perks.
All in all, I genuinely enjoy the Legion very much and appreciate the new organic method of map pressure through wounding and sneaking over having to depend on things like ruin. I hope this analysis is useful to some and would love to hear thoughts and feedback!

Made a post about something like this last night(changing him to a surprise attack killer with no terror radius outside of frenzy), so i totally agree and i think it would be a nice change while playing killer instead of just chasing people 24/7 and trying to zone hooks/gens.

I've been seeing a few people, can't remember the major person's name, also suggest taking away the Red stain. But do we know how much larger the Frenzy makes his TR? If his natural TR is too small and his extra TR from his Frenzy is not adjusted then he'll be even weaker because his TR won't be large enough for him to find people even with M&A. Of course, your addon suggestion would partially fix it but then he wouldn't be able to use anything else. If his TR in Frenzy were adjusted accordingly then making his TR really small would be a great idea and give him a huge edge, I'm ok with him being slow, it incentivizes strategic play.

Literally this, yeah. Just giving Legion a flat buff will leave them uninteresting and without identity. Think of them as similar to the Doctor and his stance system, put more emphasis on differences between being normal and being in Frenzy.

These are some cool ideas but stealth always kind of suffers in high ranks. There are so many maps that are just terrible for stealth in which case you are gonna be very much relying on your power
His duration could do with an increase not a massive increase just an 3 or 4 seconds. Then mend also needs to be about 2-3 seconds longer as otherwise survivours mend very fast unless you have a knife add on.
Something needs to be done about his base stance 100% agree. Either tr reduction and no red stain or 115%/4.6 ms he needs something for loops as his ability isnt cutting it. Unless your using franks mix tape or the stab wound study.0 -

Using things like M&A, or the new pins (hopefully) could help improve Legion's frenzy tracking immeasurably and keep the combat and chasing more consistent, as well as keep survivors guessing as to your location.
