I thought Dead Hard used Suvivor sided hit validation...
I thought they changed DH (before it's most recent change) to validate on the survivors side so you couldn't be left exhausted on the ground.
Did they reverse that again? I just did a match against Spirit where I hit dead hard, saw the animation, was exhausted for a second but was downed.

It's server sided(specifically for dead hard), neither the survivor client nor killer client has full authorization of if the hit counts or not. In both cases depending on latency you can see roll back occur. If the killers swing got to the server before your dead hard the hit will count.

I can't answer your question, specifically, but I will say I've noticed a spike in being hit through pallets since 6.1.0.
Yesterday I even encountered an old issue, in which throwing the pallet appeared to pull my player model closer to the killer, and allowed a hit to connect that otherwise would have missed. There was a full second delay between the end of the Spirit's lunge animation and me being injured, and I wasn't injured until I dropped the pallet on her head.
If there is currently a problem with hit validation, I don't think it is exclusive to Dead Hard.
