Coup de Grâce discussion
Continuing a series of threads on the least picked perks according to Nightlight, next up is The Twin’s perk Coup de Grâce (0.7% usage)
Coup de Grâce - Each time a generator is completed, Coup de Grâce grows in power. Gain a token. Consume one token to increase the distance of your next lunge attack by 70/75/80%.
Interestingly I do occasionally see a streamer or two who really like this perk. When it actually works the extra lunge distance is kind of handy to get a hit on someone you otherwise wouldn’t before they reach a pallet or vault.
The main reason I think it’s not popular is probably the reason I don’t personally use it, it’s inconsistency. It has a limited number of uses at best, and there are a lot of times when a normal lunge would work just fine but if you did one then it would use up one of these tokens and waste it. So you can end up actually choosing between losing a token for no reason or not lunging at all and maybe not getting a hit. It’s this weird trigger and token condition combination that’s kind of a turn off.
If it were up to me, I’d probably make it simply be a permanent passive +X% lunge distance boost with no restrictions for some appropriate value of X (50% maybe? Hard to say.) That would be way more reliably available and easier to work with. Even with it giving less distance than the current 80% I’d definitely rather use that, just my opinion.

It can be really nice and catch people off guard i like to use it as a surprise on killers with a power that makes lunging less frequent, Hunteress, Wesker, Demo, because most times you would just use your power instead of lunging.

this perk has potential to make every killer's chase as strong as nurse if it had no token system. barring the very exceptional super strong pallets that completely block your way, almost every pallet becomes unsafe if you have this perk where the killer can get a hit if the killer reads the survivor movements and correctly predicts the slide/the slide bait. A permanent version of the perk with no tokens really should be base-kit in my opinion.
due the fact that I think survivor would not like playing against this perk for entire match, I think the perk should be turned into a hex and be made stronger to compensate it is a hex by decreasing lunge distance by -30% and increasing the lunge velocity by 50%. The killer would be stronger in the chase in early game but the survivor could remove the perk making the killer weaker in later game. Supposedly the killer would have enough pressure on the map to not require a better chase in the end game.
Another idea I had for the perk is that the perk works like reverse save the best for last. You start with 8 tokens with 80%. Every time you basic attack, you lose 1 token. When all 8 tokens are used up, the perk greys out and is disabled for the rest of the match.

I love the perk as it is, it's actually pretty good. However, the fact that it consumes a token on ANY lunge is quite annoying. It should only use tokens on lunges that are extended by Coup.
