Camping / Tunneling Has to Stop

Over the few years I've been playing, there have been some steps taken to reduce camping/tunneling, but it's still such a problem in the game.

It's especially bad around rank reset. I presume because we're back in the pool with salty and inexperienced killers who want to take their frustration out on others and/or don't know any better.

I'm sure this kind of thing gets posted a lot, but after having had back to back games with toxic killers all night, I think we need to keep this dialogue going.

Please continue to work on this, because it really ruins what is otherwise a fantastic game.

I can't agree with this post enough. Tunnelling and camping absolutely ruin this game. I actually play as a friendly killer solely to give other players a chance to earn objective points robbed from them by selfish players that resort to tunnelling and babysitting hooks. It's a cheap tactic that far too many players exploit because there's nothing in place to combat it. Makes what is essentially a really cool game profoundly frustrating and outright annoying.

Grade reset has nothing to do with match making.

It's unlikely tunneling and camping would ever be removed from the game, because the devs have stated they are strategies and not reportable. Plus there's not much you could really do to prevent it without just giving survivors invulnerability states which is a bad idea in a 1v4 game.

Rank reset does not change matchmaking... It really irritating that there are still people out there that do not know that mmr is a thing now and that for quite a while. Grades get resetted and the only thing that does is for you to grind it again and get the bloodpoint reward a month later, so whatever you're experiencing or you think you're experiencing has nothing to do with grade reset and is only coincidental. Unless of course you want to assume people really care for the bloodpoint reward and want to grind it as fast as possible, which I don't think is a thing at all.

But yeah camping and tunneling is a problem but as long as it is a very effective strat nothing is gonna change, they need to adress that in a way so killer just looses every game if he even attempts to camp or tunnel while also making sure survivor cannot abuse it to force the killer into doing it.

    Then encourage the Killers to:

Move away from the hook... give more incentives to kicking Gens and chasing another Survivor

Stop chasing the same Survivor all the time... ^^^

Also Gens and Maps need to be addressed:

60 charges is too little and 90 charges is too much... and Toolboxes, hitting multiple Great skillchecks and Perks makes gen go from 90 seconds to ~45 seconds...

And regression taking anywhere from 150 seconds to 346 seconds

    Maps:

Spawns for literally everything need to be changed

Whether you believe grade reset has anything to do with it or not, there's definitely a pattern I've observed there. I'm most definitely not the only one.

My friend's proposed solution to this is actually pretty clever; have the hooks move around if the killer moves too close (or stays around for too long) - there's already an in-built mechanic for this with Pyramid Head's cages. I do agree it'd have to be balanced (i.e. any anti-tunneling protection to be removed upon objective actions), because the game has to work for the killer as well.

I play killer myself and won't pretend I didn't camp/tunnel in the early stages, but ditching this dog strategy allowed me to actually learn the game. You don't need to rely on this to 4K - absolutely no honor in it, and it teaches nothing about how to play the game.

Camping and tunneling is not going to change. It's here to stay just like teammates that leave you on the hook from first to death. There is no teamwork anymore. It's every man or woman for themselves. Especially during an event.

What's the alternative? Barely being able to chase a survivor through minutes of looping?

Anyway, continuing to pile more and more stuff to stop this will lead to more and more people not playing.

Just remove all strategies which work for killers, right?

So basically u are asking for holding your hand by the devs.

It'll stop when the game state stops forcing killers to do it. Like look at this bullshit:

A lot of killers lack the ability to keep up with good survivors, so camping them out and forcing 2nd stage or a trade is more preferable when injuries don't matter.

Agreed with this - Events in particular I try to be more friendly. Nothing like a camping littler coward to ruin events (going on now! lol)
