Why Can't There Be More Side Objectives?
The Events show there's potential to add unqiue side objectives to the game. The Halloween events we've had the nectar in Blighted plants during hollow blight and now we have transfering voids. The Christmas event didn't have much side objectives but, we could interact with Snowman to hide from the killers and the lunar event had the cards.
The only side objective we've had that's not been event related has been hunting the knome a while back. So why can't we get more unique side objectives that aren't just event related?

On one hand, I love the idea of side objectives.
On the other, my lobbies rarely even see the gates being powered. It's not like we have lots of time to spare. :/

exactly this!

They could force a secondary objective BUT they would need to make gens take a bit less than now. It's more fun

Doesn't even have to be part of the main objective have it similar to the void transferring or something that'll give you like a bloodpoint boost for a reward.

Those would be the bones and chests effectively. Bones give points and possibly snuff a killer perk. Chests give items.

I would love if the survivor objective was more varied in getting the exit gates open. Anything that would force survivors to have to move around the map more often would help create more interactions.
The problem is this would almost certainly require a drastic overhaul of the game. Gen related perks would all have to be changed in some way. While the devs don't seem opposed to making huge changes as seen with the last man standing mori mechanic on the last ptb, that was still pretty tame.

Its literally because of low MMR. High and even mid MMR would benefit from side objectives quite a bit, but it would absolutely bottom out the floor in low MMR where killrates are already at their highest. I actually would like to see them imposed as a method of "efficiency overheat", aka if gens are getting progressed too much too quickly, and it could be paired with a similar side objective requirement for killers if they get a kill too fast.
Basically those types of ideas shouldn't be thrown in the game as a blanket adjustment, and the events that have them are usually good examples of why. I believe they absolutely could be used as efficiency limiters though, in an attempt to address the genrush/tunneling "arms race."

This. I always open chests/cleanse totems if I see them nearby after finishing a gen. Points points points

thank you,but no. the sole survivor experience of first hook death is bad enough already with Mikaela booning 400 times, Claudette self caring vs Coulrophobia and the killer running third seal.

I'd be in favor of anything that incentivizes survivors to complete gens. Anything else would be a bad idea.

I keep wishing that the daily objectives would rotate some glyphs in. I LOVE doing glyphs actually. :(

Because in solo q it's not fun being left on first hook while you're teammates focus on random side objectives. It's better these are for short events instead of all the time.

I believe the devs made a comment about this during a Q&A stream.
I think they didn't like the idea to give (the survivors at least) a secondary objective or they thought it would make the game difficult or something

That's not a bad idea actually.

I know right? I love doing them, but once they are done in the Tomes I never get to anymore. T.T

We already have side objectives for survivors: Unhooking, healing, chases, totems, chests, archives.
plus in most of my games my team doesnt even make it to the end game

Either one side or the other is going to "win"
If 3-4 Survivors escape then it's the Survivors "win"... well at least it should be but this game is a 1V1V1V1V1
If 3-4 Survivors die then the Killer "wins"
Adding in Side Objectives sounds good on paper but in practice not so much...
Totems are an example of a side objective that people don't agree with... they offer the same things as those events (I think)
