So, why is the disconnect penalty disabled now?

I find it interesting how that entire week or two where hacking was probably the worst it had ever been they didn't bother to disable the DC penalties for everyone (except for select FW's) yet people were being held hostage and experiencing hackers much more often than usual, yet the DC penalty is disabled now... what's the reason for it being disabled right now? Genuinely curious.

    I think it's for crashes.

I've crashed a couple of times on the Series X even though I haven't been playing too much recently.

Two possible speculative reasons floating around about it

    • The event seemed to be causing a lot of people to disconnect
    • There's also a rumor hackers found a way to force other players to disconnect.

If either or both of those is true that would explain why the DC penalty is off right now. They've turned it off temporarily in the past for similar reasons (with similar unfortunate spikes in people disconnecting on a whim.)

Unless the developer mentions it, I can only speculate, but it is still a crash issue.

Or there may be a reason for that, since there have already been several discussions erected about cheaters being able to intentionally DC other players.

I've heard it has something to do with how unstable the connection to the servers has been since the latest tome release, even more so since the ranks reset. I can understand why the DC penalty has been removed, but all it does is encourage unsportsman-like behaviour. Especially against Nurse, I'm trying to learn her, but it's been impossible to get a game because everyone keeps DC-ing.
