Cenobite vs Dredge

So another killer vs killer. I make this after the seeing the new stats saying Dredge has 1% higher kill rate in high MMR, while Cenobite has 2% higher kill rate overall so they are very close there. Oh well same two questions as always:

Who in your opinion would you class as the better/stronger killer of these two and why?

And which one of them is most fun to play?

Powerwise their anti-loop are about the same in that if you mess up you let the survivor get to a new tile, but Dredge's remnant teleport is easier for newer players to use consistently.

Chain Hunt is less oppressive during chase compared to Nightfall, but it slows the entire game down by interrupting generator repairs through having to dodge chains and solve the box to get back to working on gens. Nightfall makes it very difficult for low to mid skill survivors to loop without Windows of Opportunity due to basically only being able to see the tile you're on (meaning you need to have memorized the tiles on the map to loop normally) while also not doing much for high skill survivors who've already memorized the map layout and know where to loop.

Basically, Dredge is easier to get good results quickly with but has more trouble competing with higher MMR (since Dredge only really has teleports as a useful ability at higher MMR), whereas Cenobite is a lot harder to do well with but has a higher potential if you can find the box consistently.

I bet Dredge is there because of Nightfall. Many people are just not super great at knowing fully maps or you can get confused and run into a corner or something. And no, top 5% MMR (as you can see thanks to the stats as well) is just a big mix bag of players of decent / good / great / below avarage skill level.

Pinhead is overall stronger due to even 1 chain hunt turning the tide of a match.

it also forces at least 1 survivor to do something besides generators which can give him an instant chase if he’s not in one at the time

He also has decent antiloop and with engineer’s fang an easy way to injure them

Perhaps but it's the only thing we have to go on in terms of numbers. If many or most people think one killer is better than another, it does not mean it's true. A lot of placing killers in tier lists is a bit of guessing also since the killers are very different in terms of power and skill level. And we also see that everyones tier lists are different.

I do think they are pretty equal around B+ or A- tier, but Dredge is more fun to play for me.

My vote is Pinhead. The secondary objective will always give some value, though its mileage may vary. Finding the box is massive. And his anti-loop is solid if you are good with it.

Dredge has always felt a bit gimmicky to me. I've never really felt too threatened by Nightfall. I can still usually hear him coming on my headphones. And the lack of red stain is countered by pre-dropping and playing safe. Dredge's anti-loop really suffers in areas where tiles are close together and survivors can chain them. And mid-chase locker teleports don't really catch you off guard if you look behind you and position safely when he spawns his remnant

Pinhead feels sweatier to work because you really want to know where all 4 survivors are and contest the box while also not losing your generators, on top of having high risk/low reward chains

Dredge feels less intense to play, the only tricky part about Dredge is fully utilizing his Remnant but at least that doesn't hurt my brain.

Pinface is probably the better killer with the higher ceiling, but I feel Pinhead can be countered easier and he'll have a rougher time for it when things don't go his way; Dredges counters tend to be the map itself lol.

I guess it depends if you like the idea of a 1v4 capability through secondary objective that survivors can contest or if you'd like a gimmick power.

I suppose I'd rather have that gimmicky power on large maps like Red Forest but I'd prefer Pinhead on tighter maps like Midwich where I can more freely contest boxes.

They're both pretty even for me in terms of strength and fun. If it came down to nitpicking I'd go with Dredge because of his reliable mobility and build variety. 🕛️🌑 🦃🌫️

    Dredge, for all the reasons.

    • Mobility
    • Incredible addons
    • Very versatile
    • A lot more intuitive to play
    • Remnant is a better anti-loop than people realize

Cenobite has the Box, which melts faces at lower MMRs and doesn't do much at higher MMRs unless you get both good and lucky at locating spawns.

About all Pinhead has going for him are fantastic perks, compared to Dredge's mediocre ones.

Pinhead is by far the stronger one of them. Oppressive anti loop if you know how to use it and incredibly obnoxious slowdown. And he also has slight mobility

in terms of fun, theyre about the same level

My opinion about Dredge's placement is the same as many others right now. I believe it is due to lack of overall map knowledge of the player base. If the survivors facing Dredge have good map knowledge/awareness, Nightfall becomes a lot less oppressive.

Pinhead's Chain Hunt on the other hand, is just as effective every time it goes off. This depends on the person playing him of course. Good pressure to keep the hunt going is key.
