Should mmr rank be shown to the player?
What do you think , should bhvr make your mmr visible on your char screen ? I do not really see the cons to this. It would be a nice indicator to how well we are playing with that character. Of course it would only be visible to you and nobody else.
We already have player level and prestige level shown so why not. It would save time from keeping track of k/e numbers yourself.

Honestly MMR is so loose in this game that I wouldn’t care to see it. MM is basically just putting you in the quickest game
5 -
At least your own MMR should be visible.

Who even keeps track of kils or escapes? xD And even if you do what does that help you... I mean... you don't get the same amount of mmr gain or loss for every survivor... So even if you kept track you would if you lost or gained mmr after a game with 0 k and a game with 4k xD
Besides that I think they could show it yeah, maybe even with an option so you don't need to see it if you don't want to.

This is the only game I've played that the mmr is hidden, never made sense to me.

I wouldn't want my mmr to be visible to anyone. I already don't like prestige being visible before the match.
Also, I wouldn't really want to see it anyway. I'd probably obsess over every time it goes up or down, feel compelled to compare with my friend's mmrs... No, I'm good not seeing it.

Yeah seeing how much mmr I lose because my team all gave up or never touched a gen would really make me like the system even more...
I'd rather a better SBMM, but with devs that say stuff like "even if you did a 20min chase was it really skillful if you died" I dont see that happening.
(Obviously that's not an exact quote but its basically what he said so you get the idea)

Nah - I know I'm terribad without it being shown to me T_T
5 -
I don't see why not. It'd at least stop the "I'm at top MMR so your opinion is wrong and you just don't understand what it's like at the top" arguments once people learn that they are not, in fact, at top MMR.

True, but if recent info is to be believed (and my experience seems to support it), once you get over the soft cap it's largely irrelevant anyway.
But yeah, lots of people would be in for a rude awakening when they saw they MMR was way lower than they thought. And for some (fewer), the reverse would be true, I think.
And semi-related, I would love to be a fly on the wall when certain streamers whose entire schtick is built around playing at "TOP MMR" found out that:
- There is no "top MMR" for matchmaking
- Even if there were, it wouldn't be them
2 -
I don't really see any reason to show it? I can't think of any other game that would show you the inner workings of its matchmaker like that, the only time you'd see a number in that general area would be in a ranked mode.
Besides, thinking about the knock-on effects that it'd have makes me shudder. "uhm actually my MMR is [x] so i know better than you" ad nauseum, eugh.

Yeah, giving people another metric to be elitist about and lord over each other isn't what we need. People do it with grade and that's irrelevant, imagine what they'd do with MMR. Especially above the soft cap, people would be harassing each other to share their MMR so they could assign blame. No thanks.
Some people say BHVR doesn't show us so we can't see that matchmaking doesn't work all that well, but the animals are already out of the metaphorical barn on that front.

Almost every other game hides MMR unless you choose to play ranked. You see have an MMR in unranked modes in other games, but they keep it hidden.
Behaviour has made it pretty clear they want the game to be more casual with the mindset of having fun instead of sweating to make a number go up. That's why it's hidden.
4 -
Or conversely that everyone IS at "top MMR" (1600+), which is basically like old red ranks, useless
0 -
That doesn't really work when MMR is a zero sum game. The ranks weren't, and rank 1 was too accessible for it to function as a proper matchmaking variable. But for your MMR to go up, someone else's MMR has to go down. It's possible everyone on the forum is the grizzled DBD veteran they envision themselves to be, but for every single player who's moderately competent at the game to be at the soft cap like the old system did - that's impossible.
Granted, I'm not saying MMR is good at matchmaking, just that it doesn't share that problem from the old system.

Only reason I want to see it is so I can pin point when sbmm is throwing me under the bus for the survivors. Don't care if I get mismatched as survivor, strong killers make things more fun.

I don't mind mismatched killers as survivor, but I do mind mismatched teammates. Getting babies on your team is a one-way ticket to a miserable match you have no hope of winning - same with serial quitters.

I'd like to see an emblem for the MMR bracket at least. But it doesn't seem like the devs have any interest in having the game go in a more competitive direction.

wouldnt make a difference
0 -
no, it would just be used as a "im this good" tool on the forums and a basis for acting like someones opinion is more valid on a game they enjoy like with overwatch.
3 -
No.

That is the worst, but it's also the area where being able to see MMR would lead to the most abuse, imo. People would be pointing fingers at and crapping on each other constantly, because having mismatched teammates is so common, especially in recent weeks/months.
Obviously that's matchmaking's fault, but tilted people are just gonna get vitriolic with the poor person who ended up out of their depth through no fault of the own.
I think that until matchmaking is finely tuned (not holding my breath), MMR ratings should be hidden. It would be nice if we could have them, but people suck.
3 -
On the flipside, anyone at top MMR would be trying to invalidate anyone else's opinion entirely with some clout behind it.
0 -
There should be an option to show it. With that, every Player can choose for itself to let the game show it or not.
0 -
But like it would be with voice chat, anyone not having it enabled would catch hell for it. It doesn't take much imagination to see how that would go, unfortunately.
0 -
Is it really zero sum though? Is the amount lost by 4 survivors equal to the amount gained by the killer and viceversa? I don't think it is
0 -
I don't think MMR should be visible to other players. We don't need even more bullying. Also I'm fine not knowing my MMR. Makes me focus more on each game individually instead of losing my mind over a number that somehow influences matchmaking.
4 -
No because then people will be able to figure fully how to Smurf themselves in such a way that they could easily control their MMR and make matchmaking pointless.
1 -
Your own MMR should be visible to you, and at the end of the match you should see the MMR of other players as well.
0 -
I would like something like "top x%" or something.
But not visible to others because we all know that people will just complain about matchmaking more.
0 -
It is zero sum because the matchmaking system treats every game as four separate 1v1s. Even in the case of a 2k, the killer stays the same MMR but the survivors who escape get roughly the same MMR from the killer that the survivors who died lost

I feel split on this issue. On one side, I agree that knowing everyone's numbers would cause some players to trash talk others and brag about their own numbers, like they already do with their assumptions on these forums and in streams.
But it would also be nice to be able to actually call out BHVR for such a loose matchmaking system with actual proof too.
Some people just have no empathy or respect for people just trying to learn and get better at things. As long as someone is trying their best to help out the team and not just trolling players and throwing everyone else under the bus to save their own skin, I'm ok with them not being on my exact skill level in my trials.

Your own should, I don't really care about other people's but knowing your at least would hurt no one and be useful to determine how actually useful the system is. Right now it seems that in general that system is about as useful as the pip and grade system but people play sweater because they think it matters.
