Self unhook and hook states bug

I had a friend who unhooked himself but died immediately after getting hooked the 2nd time because on his screen he hit 2nd stage despite unhooking himself, on everyone else's screen he was on his first hook state. This means that the game somehow validated the hook states and skipped over one hook state entirely. Resulting in immediate death on getting hooked the 2nd time despite not hitting 2nd stage on first hook, because we all know you can't unhook yourself on 2nd stage.
