Steam v Epic

I've bought DBD for my laptop on Epic game store and bought a few killers in the sale. I'm currently debating whether to buy all the killers in the sale just now, but would like to know if there's any benefit of being on Steam over Epic?

I also play on console and have invested a fair amount of time and money into that account. Ideally it would be nice to have all platform progress shared, but I can't see that happening anytime soon.

Steam as a platform is generally just better and I'm not 100% sure if Epic has the PTB but Im pretty sure its Steam only.

you shouldn't buy dbd on steam if you already have it on epic. just have both platforms, it's not like you have to devote yourself to only one platform.

the difference on steam is that you will see more of the community and there will be steam profiles, but honestly none of these are that important for many people.

PTB is another advantage of stream but I agree if you own it on epic no need to buy it on steam.

I think it depends on how much you have invested in Epic DBD and how much of a gamer you are. I wouldn't change platforms if you are just going to play DBD solo, and very casually, but if you plan on playing with friends or finding people to play with, it might be easier on Steam. There's so much Steam offers over EGS that if you only have $20 put in, I'd say switch, but only if you're going to really get into DBD or get heavy into PC gaming.

Would recommend Steam over Epic for pretty much everything. Better service/system/support, and no cross progression BS.

I'd be more worried about buying a pc rather than playing on a laptop.

  • Epic is garbage. Scummy business practices and bad consumer support.

Now, the good thing about Epic is that they give free games, and some of those are legitimately good. But they go out of their way to not support Linux, which means that even games that have native Linux binaries on Steam don't have native Linux binaries on Epic, so I've actually bought games on Steam that I've gotten for free on Epic just because the Linux binaries are available.

I also bought Evil Dead from them (first and last purchase from Epic, let me tell you) at full price on release date, which is something I never do, and a few months later, the game added added EAC, and since Epic refuses to support Linux, I don't get to play anymore unless I want to use GFN, which has horrible input lag on that game. And I can't even refund it at this point.

So now I get to buy Evil Dead at full price again from Steam, which does allow its EAC games to offer Proton support, in a year or so if I want to play it at all.

I gave 'em a chance. I'd advise you to learn from my experience and not do the same. Buy the stuff on Steam. Take Epic's free stuff and buy an exclusive if you absolutely have to, but that didn't work out for me.

That's the only reason I have epic lol the free games every week and some of their sales are a bit better than Steam...I got Rainbow Six Siege when it was on sale on epic and got all the 1st year realesed operators for free.

But other than that nope I go with steam.....but to go with what OP asked and like many have said if you invested a lot of time and money on Epic don't switch over there's no cross progression except for Stadia users

Personally playing on Epic, because no one can check my profile and write whatever they want. xD

It's a work thing only really. I work away from home for 2-3 weeks at a time about 5-6 times a year so it's only really for that. I usually play on console at home.

I went for epic, unfortunately they block Steam when I'm at work so I can't access the platform (I work offshore on an oil rig).

I guess Epic gaming must have slipped under the radar lol.

To summarize my opinion, I will not buy a game if I can't buy it on steam. I know that sounds extreme but it's miles ahead of every other platform. I refuse to support origin, epic, and even the blizzard launcher can go kick rocks.

You realize that you can make your profile on Steam "private"? You can also only allow "friends" to comment on your profile. You can also "delete" any comment made on your profile. That is not a valid reason to not use Steam. But if you like Epic, go for it.
