DBD's biggest problems.
I think that DBD is probably in it's most balanced state, but it still possess many issues that need to be addressed.
And i wanna talk about them.
- Map design. I don't think i need to say much... most maps are way too safe, open and sometimes even too big. The Eyrie of Cringe fits perfectly into this description. Haddonfield, the latest map that has been reworked, still has it's problems. It is much more open compared to the old one and windows are still fairly strong, like there are infinites on this map...infinites in 2022. The newest map from "Forged in Fog" chapter seems to break a bit of a trend of terrible maps, it's decently balanced. Maybe slightly too big and open but it is a much better map than Badham or Ormond. Map offering shouldn't exist, since they can be abused. Example? Here ya go. Sweaty Nurse sends survivors to Midwitch, sweaty survivors send killer to Autoheaven just to get ez flashlight saves.
- Lack of buffs to Solo Q. I think it isn't too hard to just give Kindred (besides the 16m killer aura reading part) as base kit to survivors and let survivors see eachothers auras for another 10sec after survivor is unhooked. Maybe Bhvr should even add little icons so we can tell what our teammates are doing.
- Lack of base kit counterplay to Boons. Now technically we do have Shattered Hope in the game, but besides killers who really suffer from COH and/or Exponential like Twins, as average killer you are waisting one perk slot to counter Boons which only one person can bring to help their whole team. Wow, amazing value. Let Boons be on token system. Let's give 3 tokens, each time a killer snuffs out Boon 1 token is removed, you gain one extra token when Exit Gates are powered. So killers have counterplay and survivors have reward for completing their main objective.
- Pushing killers to using only slowdown perks. This is the effect of both buffed OTR, Distortion and Hyperfocus/Stake out combo. Killers are heavily punished for using aura reading perks/add-ons, Hyperfocus/Stake out combo and spike in lobbies with toolboxes also discourages killers to bring anything alse other than slowdown perks.
- Nurse. Now this might be my hottest take, but i do believe she is a problem is DBD, Awakened Awareness was nerfed just becouse it was busted when it was combined with Starstruck on Nurse. She should have blindness status effect when she charges her blinks and blinks themselfs should act just like Blight's rushes. She would attack only from her second blink, their recharge would be similar to what Wesker has and her attacks would count as special attacks.
- Strong add-ons/items.
For Blight obviously Alchemist Ring, Compound 33, Blighted Crow, Iredescent Blight Tag.
MDR, Dried Cherry Blossom and duration add-ons (since they also apply faster recharge) on Spirit
Torn Bookmark and range add-ons on Nurse should be toned down a bit.
Iredescent Uroboros Vial (Wesker) and Engineer's Fang (Pinhead) should have more downsides.
These are good killers already, they don't need this.
For survivor side:
Medkits heal too fast, they provide excellent value and are fairly common compered to iri add-ons for killers.
Same goes for toolboxes. Speaking of fast gen repair speed, Hyperfocus shouldn't combine with Stake out.
Thank you for reading this long post.
