Why did flashlights need buffing?

but...but...slugging is toxic

It was a positive skill floor improvement, so it is a buff. You're absolutely correct in that its not as big as people on both sides have been reacting to though.

They’re still the weakest item in the game. Would you rather everyone use toolboxes and medkits? The buff was overdue tbh.

yes, i hate having to constantly drop srvs im carrying or being blinded at every pallet

Flashlights were, and still are the weakest item in the game. They deserved a small buff, and it really is a small one.
If you are consistently getting flashy saved on, you should look at your playstyle and learn where you're going wrong.

Lol I often hear them well in time. No every time but a lot of the time. It's not like you can prevent every single flashlight save but i don't lose many hooks to them nowadays. Decent headset and situational awareness. Plus if you know a surv is going for flashlight saves you can be prepared for it.

That doesn't do much if the survivors good. "Slug and build pressure!" The survivor with the flashlight can just take chase while the person on the floor gets picked up right away and then it's just a reset. This mindset doesn't work when survivors taking a few seconds to heal another survivor off the floor, is much less detrimental than the killer having to restart a chase with another survivor.

Because getting a flashlight save is hype enough that people are willing to try.
Flashlights are fun, they're just not good. On no planet would you rather see 4 medkits than 4 flashlights.

That is an opinion you don't share with a lot of people.

That’s a minimum of 3 survivors not on gens. Between that and pallets being broken it’s still a net gain for the killer

A green key with no addons definitely is much stronger than a green flashlight, for sure.

If the first thing really happens "constantly", then it is a big fat YOU-Problem. Flashlight-Saves are super rare, especially against Killers who are mildly competent. If it happens "constantly" to you, then you might want to stop staring into the Flashlight like a moth.
Blinding at Pallets - this is not that bad, it is more beneficial to the Killer than if they get distance.

Thats my point. Is that its much more affordable for a survivor to hop off a gen real fast, pick someone up, then hop back on than it is for a killer to start a whole new chase. In that new chase, most likely another gen will pop off and depending on where the survivor you chased off is, possibly another gen will get done when the other person returns. Then the person who is now up has started a gen. So essentially, 2 generators + a new one being worked on is starting up before you can get your next hook.

That’s a worst case scenario after 16 seconds of healing on the ground. They could heal up fully which is another 16 seconds of 2 people and one of them might be coming over to you to set up a save. Also even a 180 turn before pick up can be enough to stop a save if you know the direction they are going
Flashlights are way more inefficient than medkits or toolboxes and are the 1 item that can cause a game ending loss for the survivors

a little thing called hyperbole.
flshlight saves arent rare against people who bring them and are good at using them, though sure overall they are rare. but when they are in play yea multiple times a game they will get me if dont get them chased off beforehand.
and yes, they dont get distance if they pallet blind, that doesnt make it any less annoying to me personally

It honestly does not really matter if the Survivor is good with Flashlights or not. If you are bad at avoiding them, this is still on you. You are the one constant thing in your games, if you are bad at the game (and many players in DBD are really bad at the game), you should improve. E.g. not picking up someone in the open if you are not sure if someone with a Flashlight is nearby.
Furthermore, if you get annoyed by Flashlights at Pallets... Well, this is again, a YOU-thingy. Usually Killers benefit from Survivors doing blinds at Pallets. If you are that bothered by Flashlights, just bring Lightborn into every Match.

did i say it was the survivors fault? no i did not so not sure why your trying to be condescending.
if 2 or more survs bring flashlights i bring lightborn. your not telling me anything new.

Whether it's easy or not is another question. But why did survivors need to get handheld yet again for no reason lol?

It is not really "handheld", it is to compensate for Lag. If you are somewhat competent and at least not suck completely as Killer, you will be the victim to the same amount of flashlight saves as before - roughly 0.
