One more word on Cosmetics
It should by now be pretty apparent that a big chunk of the community is NOT happy with the absurd and frankly insulting FOMO tactics applied to cosmetics recently.
But I'd say if we look closer (not much closer, it's pretty obvious, really), we should have seen this coming:
BHVR has proven incapable of putting rift cosmetics into the shop on a regular schedule, or put them back in the rift in a steady rhythm.
Then there was the whole nfts crap where they pretty much broke world-record in backpeddaling when the community gave them the finger over it.
So applying FOMO tactics is unfortunately no surprise.
And it is a horrible decision that no one (except a pretentious few and potential investors/shareholders with no grip on reality) wanted.
There are better ways to handle cosmetics (these are ANDs, not ORs):
- Rift cosmetics should hit the store at least two rifts after their initial release
- Rift cosmetics could/should reappear on the premium rift again after a while). (giving people the choice between buying now or buying the rift)
- Rift cosmetics recolours could be put into bundles (like the 80s suitcase back in the day) instead of being rift fillers.
- Holiday cosmetics should not be limited in the store BUT one thing where FOMO would be fair is if these cosmetics are packed into bundles on the holiday (like, instead of buying a single outfit for 10-15 bucks, you get 3-5 outfits for 15-20, for example) (EDIT: Meaning you could buy the individual cosmetics all year round, but get bundles on the holidays, leaving the choice to buy or wait to the player, with no 'missing out' factor)
- generally more outfits bundles (themed) instead of new chapters. Give the coding team more space to breath and squash more bugs, it's absolutely alright. QoL before FOMO
Especially point 5: At the end of the day we love the game, and we are willing to give you money. But you, bhvr, have to be willing to give something worthwhile in return. and right now it doesn't feel like it.
EDIT:
Point 6: Break up linked sets (or parts thereof) that don't need to be linked. Kate's Oktoberfest Dirndl for example: The Dirndl is okay to be linked, but there's no need for the head to be part of it. And it's similar/the same with other linked sets. Only link the parts that need to be linked due to meshes meshing.

Sorry but bundles are an even worse idea. They are a way to force people to buy other stuff that they didn't want to buy in the first place to get people to make a larger purchase. Apex and Overwatch 2 the communities have a lot of issues with them.

And here I thought, after countless terrible decisions and unnecessary changes, BHVR couldn't possibly do worse.
They did worse.

Alright, just to make sure as I don't play either of those:
Do they ONLY have bundles or are there bundles and standalone cosmetics? and if it's the latter, what's the pricing difference between them?

I agree with the entirety of those demands.
I assume OP means without removing the possibility to buy each cosmetic separately from the bundle.

For me the main issue is that the new holiday comsetics are auric cell only. I am kind of ok with NEW special themed cosmetics being availble for limited time provided that they will make a return.
But the ideas that you proposed are also great. I also really like the idea of limited time bundles, with keeping every cosmetic in the store

Just gonna say that the NFT business was not BHVR’s call. It came with the license holder at the time.
The outrage was very much justified, but again, it wasn’t BHVR pulling that one.

Yep (I'll edit the post to make the wording clearer).
It'd be like
'you can buy these single holiday cosmetics throughout the year, or wait for the holiday for a bundle with several/all of them'

Well this is what the halloween shop looked like in overwatch 2
Both are available but it's often the skins in bundles are not available for purchase standalone.
100 coins is roughly = 1$
The discount is always different/whatever price they wanna try and sell it for
The difference between the witch bundle with a skin, potg intro, weapon charm, player icon and name card compared to other legendary skins is 700 coins/7$ The discount is artificial because those items were never for sale individually in the first place.
The defenders in the castle bundle in this screenshot is not actually 85% off it's because the player already had 3/4 of of those skins but full price that bundle was 4400 coins IIRC. So it was 1100 per skin
I haven't played apex in 2 years so i am not up to date with that game.
When bundles offer exclusive skins then they are usually just a way to make more money rather than give the consumer value. They are designed to look like they give a lot of value but in reality they don't.

I see, thanks for the explanation.
I edited the initial post to make it clear that holiday stuff would still be in the store all year round, but that the bundles would hit on holidays. it is a more consumer-friendly kind of 'fomo' in lack of better terms, leaving the decision with the player without artificial pressure

Apex basically does the same, but they kept the lootboxes.
